Shabby Chic Table!

Hello there bloggy friends! Another warm day upon us and it’s just 10:45 in the AM, that’s fine, so much better than winter.LOL

Would you believe I’ve had this table in the basement for over 6 years? Mr. K and I bought it at a estate sale for $20.00 when we were just dating, it was painted a very dark brown but I could see the potential every time I would go in the basement and put something else on top of it.LOL It was just getting it up the stairs that always turned us away from it, so it took having alot of people here at one time for me to say to him “It’s time!”
I painted it white but can’t remember the name, I know it’s by Valspar, I have to work today so don’t have time to look, I know it’s not Cottage White that’s by Behr anyway!
Here it is……do you like?P7151118
Another view of it!
P7151120
For the wedding it was set under the ferns hanging there with Jenn’s birdcage for the cards and a video of the wedding in North Carolina! Also had pink and white balloons on it.
I thought I got a picture of it but didn’t…just checked:) you can see the shabbiness of it better here. It took three coats of paint, actually I could have got away with two but I thought what the heck it was so easy to paint because you didn’t have to be so very careful.
P7151117
The top of the table! I took the detail sander to it in some places but then ran out of time, company came and I just finished it on Friday in the nick of time!
P7151123
Threw this together for you to see, the impatients always do so well for me in little containers wonder why?
P7151121
Another view!
P7151122
Remember when I showed you this pic of the potting bench? I had started to staple and gather left over drop cloth but didn’t have enough to finish, well, I bought a drop cloth bigger this time and just didn’t get it done.
P6241004
The morning of the picnic my two good friends Betty and Paula who helped me get everything placed decided to do this just to get it covered for the day. Now a decorating question for you…what can I do to it now I hate to take it down, getting it gathered is hard because there is only a half inch or inch to attach it to, I would so appreciate it if you had any ideas…..what could I add to it to enhance it? My decorating brain is froze!!! Dosen’t look good I know but was okay for the picnic. The drop cloth is double in half and just fit it all the way around, what would you do?
P7151124
Here’s what the shelf looked like for the picnic.

The pool….alot of work but oh, so worth it!

Craigslist Desk!

Hello everyone! Saturday was fabulous, everything went so well and all the work around here was well worth it, I have a few, not alot, of pictures that I’ll show in another post, I was just to busy with things to take alot of them.
This is one thing I did complete before the wedding/picnic…my desk that Mr.K bought me for our 5th anniversary off of CL! I used the paint that I already had on hand Cottage White and Jade Bath.
P7111112
Here is the Before
P5310894
It’s the first time I’ve ever tried doing drawers a different paint color then the rest of something so I thought I’d give it a try and if I didn’t like it I could always paint it the Cottage White like I was going to in the first place…so here it is! I think it turned out so nice and pretty, after I painted it I used my detailed sander and then did a thin coat of mocha glaze, after that I used a clear wax on it. I hesitated painting the hardware on it but to me they were outdated and thought they could use some prettying up! I love how they turned out!
P7111113
I love it!
P7111115
I still need to find the right chair for it, there is one in the basement that is a desk chair that was Mr.K’s mother’s and it has a spindle back on it and a seat that would need covered so I may do that one.
P7111116
When I first showed this desk in a post on here, someone said that it was a vanity not a desk so I looked on the back to see if there were holes for a mirror and they were right it is a vanity! The guy on CL said it was a desk so that’s okay, it’s working for me and now my diningroom table is cleared off and not cluttered anymore so it’s worked out great! The bedroom is still a work in progress I’ve had my shabby chic curtains for months but just got around to buying the curtain rods this past week but I think Mr.K needs a rest before I ask him to put up curtain rods! What do you think should I let him rest at least a week or what? LOL

My Front Door…Done!

Hello everyone, it’s going to be another hot one today 87 with possible storms and showers, I’d love it if it did rain, so that for just today, I wouldn’t have to water flowers! I’m trying to keep them nice for at least Saturday, so I’m keeping my fingers crossed
I’ve wanted to show you my newly painted front door for a week now so here it is…love!
After
P7061058
before painted barn red from last Christmas…liked it but it was time for a change!
005
What a difference huh?  A friend of ours spray gunned it for me and it turned out great I just had to do the outside trim of it, his helping like that sure saved me hours of time…thanks Dave!
1. black paint free, Dave had some already!
2. Welcome mat from Dollar General
3. Rocking chair from Ollie’s
4.black polka dotted pillow from GW
5. little plant stand that I painted from GW
6. flowers and fern from Lowes!
So here is a little tour around the house and to show you all the work Mr. K did!
Love to get a new door handle but out of the question right now, maybe next year! Did you notice the out of date screen door is gone! Took me six years for that one ladies!
P7061072
To the right of the porch!
P7061078
This is my window box below the kitchen window when I first planted the flowers and then painted the window boxes…duh!
P5100809
Look how they have grown! I had to take out those little red flowers, because they weren’t doing so well…yes, I went blonder!
P7061074
Stush and Dave weren’t sure about a black door but when it was up and done they both liked it!
P7061059
This is to the left of the door…

P7061086
Beginning of our driveway, Mr. K built the newspaper holder!
P7061083
Another birdhouse on another stump of a tree that the lighting got to!
P7061082
The garage door is painted khaki like the window boxes and the boat is finally uncovered:)P7061084
That’s not our shed but the churches across the road. The galvanized washtub I found at a yardsale for .25!
P7061065
Here’s a closer look!
P7061064
Under the tree here is a side of an old farm wagon, you can see the side there where a wheel would have been!
P7061062
This place always looks so cool looking even when it’s in the 90’s!
P7061071
Part of the back, you should see it now all filled with tents and tables!

I Have Never Painted So Much!

I know I’ve said this before but getting ready for a wedding/picnic at your home is just amazing, you do one thing and that leads to another plus things that should have been done in the early spring that you let go because you knew you were having a wedding/picnic in July… you let go…now were scrambling and we are also sooooooooooo tired!
Here are a few of things I’ve done…
P6090925
I’ve painted every birdhouse I’ve had for years white also did the bench you see it sitting on, I bought it at a yardsale for &10.00. It’s very heavy and a nice size bench and as you can see it was painted dark brown. That’s the nest that was in my wreath on the porch!
Here it is now, spray painted a lime green that I found in the oops paint section for $1.50, then I had almost a full can of Pistachio paint and did that over top! The hens, as I call them were from GW and had string on them to hang, I used them that way last year, but the strings broke and I thought they would look pretty this way. I spray painted them a flat white and planted some pink impatients in them, they turned out really cute!
P7021033
I didn’t do these, Mr.K surprised me by doing both of them while I went shopping with my bff Friday. I dreaded doing them because they were wood and varnished and just plain out of date looking, I’m happy with how they look… so cottagey!
P7021031
I also moved some furniture around, I moved the bench from this corner and put my washstand here instead, the one with the ribbon handles, like it so much better! The purple flowers I found at Gabe’s and the basket at Tuesday Mornings! See the old bottle there next to the flowers? I found the neatest thing at Marshall’s Friday!
P7021028
You can use it on bottles for a candle holder or tea light, the candle would have to be a bigger one than we are used to though, here I’ll show you…see how it fits right down in the bottle? It cost $5.99 but I think it was worth it! I think old bottles look neat with candles in them don’t you? They would be great with wine bottles or bottles with the wicker around them too!
P7021022
Here’s what it looks like by it’s self!
P7021023
Right now I have a tea light in it but will have to look for bigger candles! Neat huh?
P7021021
Oh, almost forgot, here is the basket with a metal label on it that says in French Fleurs and cost only $6.99!
P7021025
Well, I’ll be showing more painting projects in the next couple days, hope you will all come back soon! In the mean time I’ll be joining these great parties listed below:)

On the Boat and a Sneak Peek!

Well, here we are on the boat for the 4th of July, him and me:) BTW we were married 5 years on May 26th, I think for 61 he is so handsome! My life changed so much when we met again after 30 something years! My kids love him and I do too!

P7021043
This one is my favorite! Wasn’t very sunny that day and the sun would peek out for a little bit but was very hot and muggy, I dislike those kind of days, if it’s going to be hot and muggy than let the sun shine too.LOL
P7021044
This freaked me out just looking up at it, so high above , they are building a road across the river, it will connect us to Morgantown, West Virginia.
P7021034
Here’s a sneak peek at what we have been doing around here…
P7021031
I’ll be back later to post about some things I’ve completed, the wedding/picnic is this coming Saturday…eeek!
