Cottage White Kitchen…..Soon!

So hard to believe but my dream kitchen is coming true, when I grab the counter to pull myself up off the floor after laying on my side painting the trim underneath the cabinets and step back, I think why didn’t I do this a long time ago? Why? Because it is hard work…my body is sore, tired and constantly having Cottage White paint on me some where that’s why, but so worth it!!! See those dishes on the top, those are coming down…I can just see the top of my cabinets with greenery and white twinkle lights for Christmas, it’s going to be so pretty! The picture below is of the side of the kitchen with the sink!

PB131653

On the other side the drawers are in but haven’t put the hardware on yet! Don’t forget new counter tops are coming yeah!

PB131655

My stove is pulled out into the middle of the kitchen, one thing though I did get to clean and dust off the back of it plus really get grease marks off the top! My stove is so close to the bottom of my microwave and that’s so hard to keep clean because it’s so close! Cleaned the floor underneath it too, I’m a cleaning, painting fool lately girls!

PB131652

I hated to even show this but it is what it is…a mess! I took this picture last night but I think you should see what it will be if you ever decide to paint your kitchen cabinets and it’s been like this for a few weeks! I still have to paint the trim around the window and yes, I’m painting the light switch covers too! LOL

PB131651

Mr. K moved everything over to the side and put at least some things in the cupboards, we have been living out of laundry baskets and I know it’s trying his patience's but so far no tears which is amazing but it’s not over yet! LOL

PB131654

A not good picture of me but remember I just got done painting and I’m heading out the door to Syd and Sam’s Veteran’s Day program! Mr. K was trying to show me how to take a close up picture, yeah sure, with a smirk on my face plus I knew I was going to have to look at my X, which is another story that would take up everyone’s day if I posted about that!

PB101640

It was also this one’s birthday that day, 10 years old, double digits, three more years and she will be a teenager, Lord, where is the time going? She was a greeter at the door for VDay, a sweet, loving little girl, she has a special place in my heart, she was born a week before my mother passed away. I think God gave her to us to help the grieving that I went thur plus she is my oldest grandchild, I call her Princess, anyone remember the tv show “Father Knows Best”? He called his oldest daughter Princess and that always stuck with me!

PB101634

Samantha, Sydney’s sister is 6 and in 1st grade, she is on the very right of her teacher, standing in the front row, with the dark hair.

PB101635

There she is singing with her boots on! I see so much of myself in her at times, I call her Honey Bunny!

PB101636

That’s it ladies, what I just showed you is what my life is like right now, I have so much to catch up on, pictures I’ve took and never posted and visiting your blogs, which I still try to do, I don’t want to miss anything, and the parties I’m missing out on but soon everything will back to normal….hopefully!

More of an Update on MY Kitchen!

Well, we are getting there slowly but surely and what a difference it has made already! The room actually looks bigger and I can’t wait to see when the other side is done, there  will be such a major impact on it!  I’m loven it!

PB051626

I’m so glad to say bye-bye to this orangey wood!

Before

PA141574

Here is the bottom part. When I stepped back to take a look at the whole of it I almost let it slip that “even the almond counters looked good with the white paint” so glad I caught myself in time! LOL

PB051625

I love how my fridge even looks so much better with the white surrounding it!

After

PB051624

First coat of paint that was sprayed on, I told him he did a fantastic job and he said tell them “What a fantastic husband you have” ! I don’t think he will be in to good of a mood today though, he went to the Steeler game last night with my son and the Steeler’s lost in the last 8 seconds of the game. I watched the game and just couldn’t believe it but that’s what it’s all about, my other son teaches in Annapolis and I don’t think he will have a good day either because the highschool kids all know he is a big Steeler fan. Ah, but life goes on.LOL

PB051627

Now back to the kitchen! Want to see a sample of my counter top? Oh, it looks so much better than the almond don’t you think? It’s black with a little bit of tan and white mixed in, the name of it is Labrador Granite, see it was meant to be our dog is even included.!

PB051628

Look how good it looks next to the fridge, I can’t wait!

PB051630

PB051631

I hope the next time I show you I’ll have the doors on and the drawers in with all the hardware!

A Cloche Party at A Stroll Thur Life!

Hi everyone! I can’t believe tomorrow is November 1st can you? The months are flying by and soon we will be decorating our Christmas trees! For some reason I’m just not ready for that! LOL

Now on to the Cloche Party that Marty is being a fabulous hostess for! Right before my trip to HomeGoods I had left a comment on Marty’s blog saying that I was going to look for a cloche while there and this one was is the first item I chose to bring home with me. I love the word Chocolate on it don’t you? They also had them with the words Pastries and another word but I forget it, darn! Maybe cake?

PA281603

My kitchen is a mess so there wasn’t any time to make anything,so when we went to Lowes and Home Depot that day, we stopped for lunch at Eat and Park where I bought four chocolate cupcakes and boy, were they delicious with a crème filled center! Hubby kept asking if I had taken a picture of them yet so he could eat them…I had one and he had three!

PA281604

I also tried a couple more plates under it to give it more height!

 PA281610

Then I thought about my black and white checked pumpkin that I bought at Target last year and placed it underneath the cloche! I took the bow off that had came with it and added a black one…cute!

PA281611

Here it is with the wording on the other side, the cost of the cloche at HomeGoods was $12.99, I didn’t think that was bad at all!

PA281612

I’m going to be working on my kitchen tomorrow since I’m off, I just can’t wait to finish it!

Stop by A Stroll Thur Life to see all of the beautiful cloches and while your there join in!

I’ll also be at Savvy Southern Style for the WOW Us Wednesday party!

Happy Halloween You Guys!

Yep, that’s me…a chicken, never thought I’d ever wear a costume like this one, he had to bribe me to be one! Doesn’t he just look like Colonel Sanders of Kentucky Fried Chicken? When he came out of the bedroom I howled, just couldn’t believe it.LOL He said we would win first prize where ever we went, he was right, we won grand prize and I got to keep the money…that was my bribe! This picture is taken at my daughter’s house, we stopped by to show them!
PA281615
Not easy having claw feet let me tell you! Sam was fascinated with the rubber chicken!
PA281617
A fun night!
PA281616
When I showed you this picture in another post I realized that the plantstand holding the pumpkins looked a little bare…
PA191583
so I bought this at Lowe’s which was on sale for $3.49, here when we got home the kid only charged us $1.98! So I got the mums and the pumpkin container for so very little. It dressed up the stand a little better I think!
PA291623
I woke up Friday morning to this! So pretty though!
PA291621
Our boat isn’t put away yet even and it snowed, I know others got it worse, thank goodness by evening it was all gone, just not ready for it yet!
PA291622
Chris showed me how to load my phone pictures but now I have to figure out how to get them on my blog!
Have a great Sunday and thank you to my newest followers, I so appreciate all of you!

Update on My Kitchen!

Hello everyone! Well, I’m still plugging away on the kitchen, with each stroke of the paint brush and each roll of the little roller I come closer to my dream kitchen! There are so many decorating ideas swirling around in my head even when I’m trying to go to sleep, it just won’t quit! LOL I know you know the feeling! It’s a big project but after seeing all of you who have done this before with your kitchens and reading about all your tips on it, I feel like I’m finally ready to do it.

I’ll show you what I did last night, this is going to be a long project and the kitchen is a mess and it’s going to stay that way until it’s done! So far Mr.K hasn’t said a word about the mess and I’m so thankful for that, I don’t need that kind of stress right now and so far no tears have fallen!

I’m also taking Lou Cinda from Tattered Hydrangea’s comment to heart, where she said she did her’s one section at a time so that’s what I’m going to do. This is the side of the kitchen where the fridge is, this is with two coats of primer, should I go for the 3rd coat? or is two enough?

PA281600

You can see in this picture what I’m trying to cover, I don’t want any grain to show thur!

PA281599

I’m pretty sure I’ll be leaving the doors off the cabinets above the stove and using these zebra baskets/containers, I found them at Burlington Coat Factory at a great price and love them. I’ll show you what they look like with the white in the next photo below.

PA281601

Looks great with the white doesn’t it? Of course this idea could change by the time the kitchen is done, like I said decorating ideas are swirling around in my head!

PA281602

This is what we are living out of but you know what, it’s all worth it, ask me though in a couple of weeks, LOL,there is still more on the counters oh, I almost forgot to tell you this, yesterday we went to Lowes and Home Depot and while in Lowes Mr.K asked me to follow him, that he wanted to show me something, I had know idea and actually dreaded it thinking he wanted to show me a tool of some sort! But we went straight to the kitchen counter selection!!!! Evidently he had been there while I was at work one day, ( I thought my stuff on the counters had been moved, here the sweetie had measured the counters)he knew I wanted black so there was one with a fleck of tan in it. He asked me if I liked it and guess what? I did, know hesitation at all…YES! My dream kitchen is coming true!

A Quick One Today!

Hi everyone!

I’m working on my kitchen today so this will be quick post!

HOMEGOODS was fabulous but wasn’t expecting the lines that were out the door at  11:10AM, they had opened at 8:00AM! People were coming out with carts loaded and we wondered if they would have anything left in the store! I did forget my camera but did take pictures with my new phone, I just have to wait for my son to get here to show me how to load the pictures onto my lap top, I tried but it didn’t work and of course there is  no instructions in the little book that came with the phone! Wish the store was closer I’d get a job there of course I wouldn’t have much of a paycheck left.LOL

I’ll leave you with pictures of Nicholas at 8 weeks now, he just looks like my son who is just thrilled with him!

Here he is at two days old!P8291333

8 weeks, wish I had got some when he woke up but was having to much fun with him to think of pictures
