HomeGoods, Kirklands, TJMaxx, Marshall’s and Hobby Lobby!

First though I have to be a bragging GrammySmilefor a moment.

Isn’t he adorable, I took so many pictures of Nicholas as he was bouncing away in his saucer. He’s 5 months old and the picture of his dad, I have a picture of Nick at 4 months and they could be twins. I baby sat  him at his house Thursday, I just love kissing those cheeks.

Friday was shopping day and I bought something in each store, you see I don’t get to go to Homegoods this was just my second time there and my first to Hobby Lobby which I  loved! You ladies are so lucky to have one close to you, ours is about 35 miles away which is ok but you have to fight Pittsburgh traffic to get there and home and leave at certain times to avoid the traffic, Lynda and I already have plans to go again in the springSmile

Here’s what I bought:

First we went to HomeGoods and I found a subway art that caught my eye, it’s all about wine, my favorite wine is the sixth one down! Love it next to my white corner hutch! Not to bad of a price for it…$24.99.

P2112324

Next we hit Kirkland’s which is right next door, a lot of sales going on there and was happy to find a chalkboard rooster on clearance for $6.99. It had a homespun ribbon on it but I cut it off and used black and white French ribbon that I already had.

P2112322

Then guess what? At TJMaxx I found the hammered, silver, oval tray, Lynda found it for me, I couldn’t believe it but the greatest was that it was on clearance for $15.00 down from $19.99. Score, it was meant to be. LOLP2112315

It was made for the place that I wanted it to go I think.Smile

P2112316

Marshall’s had these wire baskets just waiting for me at $7.99 a piece.

P2112329

When I went to pay for them the cashier said that they had been very popular that day, so glad I got the two of the three that was left, later I saw one young lady carrying the last one around. I added the chalkboard tags and was happy.Smile

P2112327

Our last place to go was Hobby Lobby, what can I say, it was huge! They had everything you could possibly want, loved this framed glass with our initial on it, I hung it in the bathroom.

P2112313

Loved the clean lines of the distressing too

P2112314

I also bought some burlap and some upholstery tacks for a project I want to do soon.

P2122331

The first place in the store that I headed to was the knobs they were half off so some were either all gone or picked over and I don’t blame the person because it was such a deal! I bought these three knobs for the end table I found at GW couldn’t make up my mind so I got all three. It will be fun deciding on which one to use.

P2122332

I had a great time, sometimes shopping is such great therapy don’t you think? SmileEspecially with a great friend!

I Like This So Much Better

Hi everyone, we are enjoying warmer weather here for Pa. the sun is out and looks like spring at least from my window:)
I did redo the bookcase, somehow I just wasn’t liking the scrapbook paper idea, just seemed to clash with everything in the diningroom. I do think it would have been great with all white pieces on it but the reason I bought the bookcase from Target was to put photographs of the kids and grandchildren on it. They put alot of money into the pictures so I feel they should be out where they can see them.

P1312165
I used a sample jar of Valspar Blue Cafe on the posterboard, this is the first shelf…my oldest son’s family! The second is my stepdaughter and her husband, sorry about the chandy in the glass.
P2072283
Third is my daughter and the girls.
P2072284
Fourth and fifth Ball jars (of course) and a clear one filled with white buttons. Urn with grass a GW find!
P2072285
I think it does make it look alot better and will go well with the different runners I have for the table.
P2072286
Here is a score from GW for just $6.99, the knob and bracket I’m not sure about, I’m going to Hobby Lobby Friday, my first trip ever and I’m going to look at the knobs, I’ve seen such neat ones all over blogland! They opened this store up about 30 miles away in Pittsburgh near Homegoods, going there too and I’m so excited:) I haven’t decided on what color to paint it, ASCP is looking good to me now, just hate paying the price, I’ve entertained the thought of making my own but sometimes things like that just turn out very well for me. LOL

It’s the Little Things

I mentioned in my last post that I was going to show you something I made, just a little craft but I think it’s the little things that make a home don’t you? I had a few of these tags that I ordered off of Etsy a couple years ago and after looking at the baskets there I decided to paint the tags with chalkboard paint and tie them on!
P2052277
They were just to blah for me!
P2032219
I couldn’t decide what to write on them so I went with the alphabet since my canisters on the counter have 1 2 3 on them.
P2052270
My youngest son was here and I asked him what I should write on them and he looked at me and said “ridiculous” so much for his opinion…men!
P2052269
I would like to get taller baskets for here but so far I haven’t found any I like or maybe some wire ones would do.P2052268
Such a little thing to do but had a major impact I think.
P2052278
While I’m showing you my kitchen I’d like to show you what makes life a little easier for me, my new Oyster 4 slice toaster even has a setting where you can warm up your toast you have already toasted!
P1131919
My youngest son bought me this brew station for Christmas and I love it, it’s my last gift from him at Best Buy, after 12 years with the company he left and is now a manager at a bank, I’m happy for him, I think the grueling retail schedule finally got to him, realizing that he needed his life back.
P1131917
Well   it’s Super Bowl Sunday and although I’m a Steeler fan I’d like to see the Giants win this one, were having wings tonight! Are you celebrating the game tonight? I’ll mostly be watching the commercials. LOL

Brought My Yelloware Bowls Out

Also my old cutting boards, the top of the kitchen cabinets looked so bare, like the kitchen wasn’t finished or something which it isn’t, so I thought I’d bring them out of storage for a while. I also made something for the two baskets I have there, I’ll show you tomorrow or Sunday, I bought them at Ikea years ago.

I’ve also been learning more about my camera, thanks to Amiee @ It’s Overflowing and Susan @ Between Naps on the Porch I know I’m not an expert by any means but even I can see the difference in my photos and that makes me happy!

P2032234

Back to the yelloware bowls-  all are old but only one has a marking on the bottom, I’ll have to look it up.

P2032228

This one is the first one I ever bought, I think I got it at the fleamarket for $12.00~

P2032230

This is the smallest one.

P2032179

My favorite, given to me by our friend, he said he remembers his aunt having red apples in it all the time! I love when I know the story of something I have that’s old.

P2032177

I moved the black tray to my coffee table and like it alot better so I still need one for the old bottles to sit in!

P2032204

I’m liking the green with the blue!

P2032191

My son and dil got me this throw for Christmas and I just love it, it’s from Restoration Hardware, even the box from there was out of this world, the throw was rolled and held together with leather, buckled straps…very impressive!

P2032205

I’m joining these parties although I’m late:)

Hello everyone!  I’d like to show you my Valentines Day mantel done on the cheap!
The pink, glitter hearts are from the DT and the hearts on the sticks are from last year, can’t wait for that brick to be white!!!P1212103
Love the little black and white polka dotted bow!
P1212101
I think I moved on this photo and didn’t realize it until now, the three, little, white vases are from Target and I paid less than $3.00 for them.
P1212100
Mirrors are all from GW!
P1212102
I added little sticks from the yard and thought I took a picture but I guess I didn’t, I put those in the two white vases.
P1212099
I had these red hearts also from last year and used them on my willow tree branches.
P1302134

P1302133
Also added this Valentine bow that I’ve had for years to the rooster on my diningroom table!
P1302135

Shelf Styling Again With Pinterest!

Before I get to what I’m posting about today, I’d like to ask a question, on blogger when I try to add a blog to my blog/sidebar it won’t go thur it just says saving and keeps on saying saving with out adding the blog to my list. Has anyone else had this trouble? Hope someone knows and can tell me, it’s been going on for weeks now!
Here is what I’ve been up to today, I fell in love with this idea from Pinterest, it’s more than likely wallpaper that they used on this bookcase, I just loved the concept of it.
196047389998791538_LRyOOiWx_b
This one is painted than stenciled.
276408495849369996_JO6PbTXT_b
I think this one is just painted!
272819689896344710_oGSJqlqY_b
Here is mine I used scrapebook paper that I bought at JoAnn’s  and used double sided tape which worked really well, I had my husband measure each shelf and cut poster board to size, that way I can take it out and do again to my liking without the stress of painting inside the shelves.
P1312171
Sorry it’s blurred I’m still learning with my camera, anyway I just don’t know if I like it or not.
P1312166
So I quit right here in the middle of it.LOL I was so disappointed in it and how it was turning out!
P1312167
Just not what I thought it would look like, maybe I should paint the posterboard instead of using the scrapbook paper.
P1312165
Has this ever happened to you? To get so excited about a project that you have been wanting to do and when you do it’s not what you envisioned? Crushed!
This is real life though so I thought I’d go ahead and post this, I’m sure it happens to the best of us:)
Thanks for stopping by, love when you leave a comment telling me you were here! Have a great Wednesday everyone!
On a sidenote I tried to pin the pictures from Pinterest but didn’t work for me, so I added the imfo at the top of each picture.
