Update on Entryway

Hi everyone! I hope you are having a wonderful Valentine’s Day, we stayed home tonight
the Mr. has a cold and we all know how it goes when a man has a cold! Complete baby!

I am taking decorating the entryway slowly seeing what works and what doesn’t plus seeing if I
like it for a couple days…so far so good.
I added a vintage crocheted runner that I found at an estate sale for a $1.00 on the washstand I
painted a week or so ago with the American Deco Paint Treasure.

I had this frame from Michael’s for a few years and just never knew where to
put it, love it here on the door.

Found this picture at TJMaxx I bought it because I liked the blue in it and thought it
would go well in my bedroom which it would but when I put it in the entryway I
knew it was staying.

I’m looking for something to go under the clock on the opposite wall but I’m going
shopping this weekend and I hope to find something but first I’ll shop my house.

Decor Art/Treasure Blue Chalkpaint

HI all, how are you? Has anyone babysat ,more than 2 times this week?LOL
It has been so cold …I read where some of you are at –40 below and I just
can’t imagine being that cold. At –2 degrees I’m shivering!
First I’d like to thank Jamie-So Much Better With Age for featuring my Valentine mantle
at Give Me the Goods linky party. Thanks so much Jamie!
For Christmas I had on my list a gift card for Home Depot so
that I could purchase the Décor Art Americana Chalkpaint.  I ordered
the chalkpaint named, Treasure, I really loved the blue for my washstand
that I was not liking at all in the white I had last painted it.
foyer 015
I waxed the top with clear and the blue with the brown wax.
I really like the blue washstand in the foyer I think it needed it!
I do like the paint, it covered in two coats and went on smooth. The wax is very nice too
but I’m going to order a brush from them because I don’t think I did a good job with
the brown wax and cloth…maybe I’ll try it again.
bar cart2 001
Hard to take a picture in my entryway because it is either to
light or to dark.
foyer 005
I still have to fiddle around with it but wanted to show you what I’ve
been up to. The black hook laying there I think I’ll use on the wall, have to see about
that though.
foyer 006
My husband was glad for a mirror to be back on the wall. Found the
cute owl at Kohl’s.
foyer 008
foyer 009
I bought the handles at Target.
foyer 010

I had this washstand painted blue a while ago but got the bug to paint it white with
black handles…didn’t like it at all so I went with a different color blue.

That’s about all I’ve been up too lately besides watching kids, thanks for stopping by and
visiting my blog!

Paris Grey Basket and White Owl Lamp

I found this basket last November at a church sale for $3.00, a nice sized one too!
I’ve always wanted to paint it so today after getting the girls on the bus after a 2 hour delay ( because it was about 8 degrees this morning ) I came home and started on it. I used the rest of the Paris Grey, well maybe I have enough to paint an urn that I found there too!
I think it turned out really nice!
Owl lamp and basket 001

This is what it looked like before, it’s plastic lined so I guess you could put a large plant in it if you wanted to but I kill plants so I won’t be doing that!
007
I’m keeping it in my office, gee, it sounds so good to write that.:) Right now I have my burlap stored in it.
Owl lamp and basket 006
Here is a close up, I just dry brushed it on letting some of the finish show thru  ASCP just went on so smoothly too!
Owl lamp and basket 005
Now here is the sweetest lamp ever that I bought to go on the desk, whenever I get that started, they have a 2 hour delay tomorrow too!
Isn’t he/her the cutest, love his/her face!
Owl lamp and basket 008
The shade is burlap and I found him at Burlington for $25.99, I didn’t think that was a bad price for both the lamp and the shade!
The taller lamp is just to big for the desk, you can see it on the floor back there. Yes, I still have to do the trim in white, maybe once I get the room going I’ll get it done, It’s like #1,000 on my to do list:)
Owl lamp and basket 007
Here’s the desk that I found in a dumpster when the college here was done for the summer, the best thing is that it was free!
The girl that used it and thur it away must have been an art major don’t you think? I have it all sanded and I’m going to prime it because the top is some sort of laminate plus all the magic marker art too. I have a quart of gray paint that I bought a while ago so I’m using what I have. I’d like to find some neat hardware for it also!

Thank you for stopping by and I hope you have a great evening!

Tweaking is All I Can Do

Things that don’t require a lot of energy but things I needed to do, it bothers me to just sit around. So I ‘d tweak something little and then rest, it has taken me all day to do these few things.
The picture is sitting there and has to be hung but I did put the clock knobs from Hobby Lobby on this stand in my entryway. I had glass ones from Target on there and got tired of them, this gives it a more Pottery Barn look! The little tray I painted with homemade chalkpaint in Cottage White

009
Have I ever showed you my vintage fan? It was given to us from a friend of ours it works but it is noisy. It’s right off the entryway and you can see it when you come in the front door.
010
When I left work yesterday I stopped at GW, shouldn’t have bothered because there wasn’t anything there…so pitiful! Really! I have to find a new place to go because our GW is nothing but junk anymore but I didn’t walk out empty handed I found this faux fern that still had the price tag dangling off of the plant and it said it was $14.99 and I got it for $2.49!
008
I needed some height between the baskets and this worked out great! Ahh,I still can’t believe the cabinets are white. lol
004
Now lets go outside…here’s my wreath I made for spring, I took out the pink tulips and added these two pink flowers for summer.
006
Stush brought up my rocking chair from the basement and I put the same pillow on as last year just didn’t feel like going down and looking over my outdoor pillows so this will have to do until I feel like myself !
007
In the back yard my Climates is starting to bloom, it blooms in the spring but not summer and I can’t figure out why. It’s going to be beautiful when all the buds are open, I think this is the third year for it!
003
We have so much to do in the front and back yards, I never knew how you bloggers in the south got to be outside way before us Pennsylvanians until I started blogging, your homes are all so finished looking for the summer and oh, so pretty!002
Here is my Rhododendrons, blooming so pretty! Did you know this is my favorite time of the seasons? Love it! Today it was 87 here, and no humidity so beautiful!
005
I’m joining these parties and so happy to be able to , you see today I found out that an old, past friend, I think we all have those, has been really sick and I’ve felt bad but the only thing I could do was say a prayer for her.
Wow Us Wednesday @ Savvy Southern Style I know, I’m late!

Hobby Lobby Again and I was Featured!

Hi everyone, sorry I’ve been away for almost a week but I’ve been working and there just wasn’t anything I felt was interesting enough to post about. On days like that I mostly visit as many blogs as I can or you can find me on Pinterest wandering around.lol
I did finish this other little tray that I bought a good while ago at GW, I use it on the table in my entryway, I had it painted blue but just felt it would look better with the homemade chalk paint I had left. On the distressed parts I used clear Minwax that I added black craft paint to and I love how it turned out, I still have to do the end table hopefully sometime this coming week I’ll get that done!
P3102613
I was also featured on Domestically Speaking Popp Spotllight, YEAH!!! I’m thrilled to say the least, here’s the picture MaryAnn featured! Thanks you so much MaryAnn!
P3052546

I was at Hobby Lobby again, 3rd time there and I love it! We went there first this time instead of last so I got to look around more. These are the cute knobs I picked up this time, I might use them on my tv stand I’m not sure yet though.
P3102574
I picked up this cute little vase for half off of $2.99, really getting into this color! Rabbit is from Target, $2.50!
P3102581
Awww, tulips don’t you just love them? Somehow they just say Spring to me!
P3102607
Right now I have them on my little stepladder with a black ribbon tied around the vase!
P3102606
Another pic of them, the ruffled burlap tablerunner is from raggy girl vintage.
P3102611
I bought this green K letter and thought it would look good on my front door but it’s to small looking and looks lost so maybe with a wreath around it?
P3102597
We were ready to leave and go to Marshall’s when I spotted something for this little guy, don’t you just love his hair, his dad’s was the same way!
P3072550
A turtle Easter basket sooooo cute! I’m keeping it in the guest room I’m not sure if Buster would bother with it or not but I’m not taking any chances!
P3102578
After we hit Marshall’s, TJMaxx, Homegoods and Kirklands, I’ll save what I got at these places for my next post. In the mean time here is a tease of one thing!

Chalk Paint Tray and I Won!

Hi guys! Been a busy week here, have you ever forgotten what day it was? Happened to me and I missed a hair appointment, which I never do, they called and her name came up on my phone and I still didn’t connect with it, just thought she wanted to move my appt. It’s no wonder though, I’m back to picking up the girls from the bus and also was called  out to work on Tuesday so I worked four straight days, not used to that just mixed my days up in my head.lol
It hasn’t stopped me from painting though with my homemade chalkpaint, this time I did a tray that I’ve had for years. Found it at a fleamarket years ago and it was done in a patriotic style, it has served me well and it’s been inside and outside of the house! Here it is on the bar in my kitchen, I used my Cottage White chalkpaint then sanded with my detail sander, love that thing!
P3022506
I wanted it to look old like it came out of an old shed, here’s a close up of it.
P3022505
Here is what it looked like before, you can see the difference in the colors, the lightest is the Cottage White Chalkpaint.
P3012504
I also stenciled it, I don’t have a stencil brush, have to buy one of those, so I used the end of a small, sponge roller and it worked perfectly…where there is a will there’s a way!
P3022507
I also waxed it with a clear wax and added black craft paint to it and it brought out the  grain of the wood a little bit I think plus it made it so smooth.
I do love that stencil on it,I bought the stencils at Walmart and were about $4.95 for a lot of different ones! While waxing this tray I was looking at the wall right there with the pictures on it and got the idea to put two, open white shelves there, can’t wait to do that! Mr. K will be so happy…not! BTW my counters will be here in a couple weeks, can’t wait!
P3022510
Which brings me to show you my new black granite sink, Ta Da! The sink I have now is from 1983, stainless steel, can’t wait to get this baby in!
P3022509
This is with a bit of the counter by it….Thanks Lowes!
P3022508
Now I’d love to show you what I won from the DIY Showcase blog Party Hop, I was thrilled to win this because their products are so good and they do what they say too…I like that in a product.
P3012489
Here’s what was in the handy carrying case:
P3012490
Mr. K was so excited too, the T shirt is an xl so he claimed that! I claimed the wood glue and the super glue!
P3012491
He claimed the epoxy glue and the Gorilla Tape, we each promised that we could borrow off each other if we wanted to! lol
P3012492
That’s not all though, I won these fabulous adhesive plate hangers from discChangers.com, all different sizes too!
P3012493
Can’t wait to try these out!
P3012494
So nice♥ The Gorilla Glue and Discs were delivered so fast too!
