Estate Sale & McCoy Pottery

Hello everyone! Did you have a great weekend? I know I did because we had National Pike Days here. I was out Friday and Saturday. What was great also was the weather perfect for yard sales!
While out I found an estate sale…

I spent $11.00 while there! I found three pieces of McCoy pottery…  #1

I put them on my mother’s end table that I have in the diningroom…



I added to my clock collection too while there, I was lucky to find the darker face one.

Next post I’ll show what I found at the yard sales, it was a glorious two days, so stay tune for that!

Antique and Retail Finds

Hello everyone! I do apologize for not posting lately, I just haven’t felt like it to tell the truth. I still haven’t found out the results of the biopsy yet, I guess it takes more than a week for them to get the results back. I do love to blog just had to take a backseat with it.

We had so much fun in Winston Salem, North Carolina. Jennifer’s birthday surprise turned out great! The weather was chilly though and the day we were to leave there was an ice storm, not to bad but we had to put off leaving for home for a couple hours.

We did a fun visit while there… in Mount Airy, which is the home of Andy Griffith star of The Andy Griffith Show and Mayberry RFD. Having grown up with Andy, Barney, Opie and Aunt Bea, I wanted to see the place that Andy fashioned his show from. I’ll do another post on it because there are just to many pictures that I took.:)

I will show you this one picture of the antique store I bought some neat things at. Two large floors of goodies!

I had a wonderful time there just looking around and the owners were very friendly as was anyone that we talked to that day.

Ok, this is what I found, nothing big or expensive.

I found this picture of a young lady, she just caught my eye, she was 20% off so I only paid $6.00 for it, the frame is old too so I thought I got a deal on her. Next is my very first doorknob, I don’t know if it’s brass or not, doesn’t matter, I guess this is a start of a collection for me because I can’t wait to fill a basket with them.

I’m so sorry I thought I had taken pictures of the other two things I found, one is from my first yardsale of the season in N.C., oh well, I guess I’ll just go on to the retail things I found and show you the others in my next post.

The pillow I found at Burlington and thought it would go nice in my office! Do you see what I did with all the Ball jars I have! I just piled them into a wire and burlap basket, now if I need one they are there.

I bought a new bulletin board at Marshall’s and gave the one I made to my daughter, mine just looked to small on this wall this one fills it up nicely.

I stacked my two suitcases, something I’ve never tried before, at the antique store I saw one for $25.00, I paid $5.00 for the brown one with college emblems on it at the flea market one year and the turquoise one a $1.00 at an estate sale.

The small suitcase I found at TJMaxx, I had seen it a while ago and was surprised to still see it there. I just fell in love with the blue, glass jar with the rope around it on clearance for $5.00.

The room is coming along, a lot of moving things here and there and just trying to get it right I guess. My next purchase will be anew rug for in here, I can’t have anything light because this is a high traffic area so I’m going to take my time with looking for one!

My Fall Decorating

Hello Everyone! It’s been over a week since my last post and I know I missed some parties that went on but I’ve been trying to get some painting done and also decorate for fall. I’m using fall things from last year and I did buy some things from only at the Dollar Store to keep the cost down from switching from one style to another:) So here is my mantel, not the best picture but I think you get the picture, it’s a 7 ft mantel and very hard (for me anyway) to decorate but I think this turned out pretty good. Thanks to all of you who have inspired me♥

This post is picture heavy so I thought I’d warn you ahead of time…this is the middle of my decorated mantel, everything but the white pumpkin is from GW!

To the right, the clock is from Target which I broke while taking it out of the package.

Now if I turn two things around I’m ready for Halloween, the white pumpkin I bought at Hallmark a couple years ago and the gourd, with the spooky face I found at GW for .79.

A friend bought me this lighted berry garland, I guess I could clip the stars off. LOL

I have two mirrors that I painted white and I’m pretty sure I’m going to hang one here and keep the mirror that is hanging there also, sort of a wall of mirrors?

I really like how this picture turned out and love the crocheted runner I found at an estate sale this summer!

Estate Sale Today

Hello everyone,
Today was my first estate sale this summer, I was there early to try and beat the heat! Still got hot though.
I found some neat things but the prices could have been a bit lower, nothing was marked and I don’t blame them since there was a ton of stuff inside and outside, shed and basement, I wasn’t interested in tools or Christmas decorations or Halloween stuff and that’s what they had alot of. There was alot of things I could have bought but I’m really, really trying to buy only the things that I love and want in my home plus there is a garage sale tomorrow!LOL
They had one lady there who told everyone the price of what they wanted not once did I hear her say anything was under a $1.00…sort of turned me off if you know what I mean. Like this pitcher, myself I thought it should have been .50 but  nope…a $1.00! I liked it though, I think if you enlarge the picture you can see the cluster of grapes on it.


I rearranged my cupboard and have it on the top shelf to the left.
 
I think this is milk glass I really don’t know but liked it anyway and yep, it was a $1.00.
 
I dug thru alot of linens and this runner was the only one that I loved so I didn’t think a $1.00 for it was bad at all.
See the milk glass tooth pick holder? It was my mom’s and I always remember it being on the kitchen table growing up, I’m so glad now that I grabbed it up when she passed away, although I didn’t use it until now…so I guess I’m collecting it milk glass now.LOL
 
These rose printed pillow cases were a $1.00 a pair…

I saw this seashell stuffed in back of a cabinet and was afraid she would want $5.00 for it…nope a $1.00 too!

I thought these were neat, terra cotta candle sticks covered with tiny sea shells, I think I’ll use them outside.
 
I think my neatest find of the day was this aqua  suitcase for $5.00, its from the 40’s or 50’s, terrible picture of it but was in a hurry.
