My Fall Porch 2014!

I can’t believe it’s the first day of fall and today it certainly felt like it, a high of only 59 degrees!
I actually had to wear a jacket to go to Walmart today, the sky is blue though and the sun is out!

042

I did do two different things this year I bought mums for the porch and made a
burlap bow for the wreath. I was going to buy a hanging basket of mums but
decided the fern looked just as good.

043

This wreath I bought at a yardsale a couple years ago and I just added some pics from
Joann’s to feel it out more, this year I added the burlap bow to it!

045

I still have to add faux leaves to my window boxes and next bring out a
little bit of Halloween.
Have a great Fall evening everyone!

Outside …2014

This year I decided to go with a black and white theme, I found the rocking chair pad at
Walmart and the pillow I bought at Goodwill a few years ago!

The spring/summer has got away from us, the tent/bag worms slowed us down so on
June 6th we are just getting the cover off the pool  and the back porch  settled. You
see the thing with those worms was that when you knocked the nests down they took
the paint right off of where you knocked them down from. My husband said he has
never seen them so bad!

I saw on one blog to use plants that loved the shade for the areas you
had, mine are growing so much and with out sun.

My first hydrangea, I’ve been babying it so much, so far so good’ I hope it grows into a
beautiful bush.

Here is a close up, it’s been in the ground for a couple weeks do you think it’s
doing okay?

This is on the second step of the front porch, I spray painted the pot black!

We have had days of rain, pouring so bad as you can tell by the pot and how dirty
it is.

This is under my favorite tree in the front yard, we were given a few hostas so I planted some
around the tree, I have been trying to grow some for a few years. I heard that deer don’t like
the smell of marigolds so I planted a few around the hostas, hopefully this will be the year
that everything goes well.

This year they are doing a lot better than before, a friend gave us a few and we have put
them around the house.

They are pretty and maintensce free, so next year I’ll be able to divide some and
put them along the fence in the back of our property.

This is right beside the garage door as you can see the pot is aging so well.

I did get a coat of paint on the tool box I I found a quart of opps  paint at Lowe’s
for $2.00. I can just see it full of red geraniums!

I boat is still in our drive way, it’s for sale btw, we would love to get a pontoon boat.

May in Review

Hello everyone!
Today I thought I’d show the month of May’s review of what I’ve done as far as the house is concerned, that way I can see how productive I have been too!
I’m really happy with my chalkboard backsplash, only two coats of it did the trick. I also painted the switchplates with it and sprayed them with a protective matt finish so that they don’t chip or scratch! Read about it here

005
I do want to make another banner out of burlap soon because I loved making this one out of scrapbook paper to hang on the chippy window. Read about it here

Pepperoni Dip, so good! Sorry about the blurry picture. Read about it here

Fireplace 2013 008
I also worked on my front porch for the month of May and was so happy to finally get out and do it as I know we all were, right? Read about it here

Front Porch 2 004
I’ll be doing this at the beginning of each month, maybe it will help me get more things done around here? lol

Summer Items for the Front Porch

Hi everyone, how are you today? I hope your enjoying the wonderful weather this spring has brought us.
Recently on a trip to Target I found some items for the front of the door and the rocker that sits on the porch every summer. A welcome mat and a pillow, the mat was on clearance…love when I get a deal like that!

I haven’t filled the window boxes yet because I think I need new ones and DH said he would build them for me but I have to get rid of the couch that is still sitting in the garage first.

Front Porch 2 005
I did get some flowers/hanging baskets at a nursery.
Front Porch 2 004
The one basket I may just keep on the plant stand by the door. I just hope that they don’t die on me. Do any of you use a fertilizer on your flowers? If you do what brand and how do you apply it to the plants?
This is the mat, love the colors blue and green!

Front Porch 2 003
Isn’t this one pretty? Two combinations of flowers, wish I knew what kind there wasn’t any imfo on the hanging baskets which irked me!
Front Porch 2 006

I know this one has a red geranium in it I don’t think I’ll hang it though.

Front Porch 2 007
I love Gerber Daisies and picked up two pots at a roadside stand  and planted them in the green Dollar General pot. The little heart stake is from Annapolis made out of pottery.
Front Porch 2 009
I love all the green, so happy to see it finallySmile

What to do When Your Snowed In

Why you grab your camera and take pictures and walk around the house snapping, doesn’t everyone do this? If you blog you do! lol.
That’s what I just did while still in my pj’s even went out on my front porch to take pictures of the snow that started late this morning and is still coming down. I’ll show you later.
I also put the chair cover and couch cover in the washing machine, I had the couch cover off for a while but I like it better than the blue so I figure the more I wash it the softer it will get, it’s the third time for it. I have two of these chairs that were given to me as you can see they are chippy! The desk I found for $25.00 at a yardsale.
snow 2013 and random pics 004
I really can’t decide which I like…this is when I had it in the entryway.P1302146 the cover on it or not.
snow 2013 and random pics 006

I also took a picture of the wreath on my front door, I had bought this wreath about two years ago and just never knew what to do with it. This year I decided to it was going to be my “winter wreath,” goes so well with all the snow we are getting.
snow 2013 and random pics 003
The desk is coming along, this is with one coat of primer, I’m doing this right, letting it dry for a couple days between coats of primer and paint, because it will be used a lot and I want it to look good.
snow 2013 and random pics 010
I now have an empty wall in the diningroom since I moved the bookcase out, I found this oval frame at Michaels, they sell them just like this to use without a picture and it was on sale!
snow 2013 and random pics 008
So maybe I’ll do something like this with other pictures thrown in, I guess I’m just going to fool around with it to see if I like it or not. The square one is from GW for $2.99 which reminds me I haven’t been there for a while!
snow 2013 and random pics 009
So here is the snow we are getting, the tree there in the background is a Holly Tree always looks so pretty with snow on it.  snow 2013 and random pics 001
Thanks for stopping by and for your sweet comments, I always appreciate it!
I’ll be joining these great parties, stop by for some great inspiration!

Spooky Night

That’s what the sign says on my wreath, I figured I’d just go ahead and decorate for Halloween too when I did my front porch. I know I didn’t want to have a lot of stuff to take down so this is what it is:)
010
011
I bought the sign and garland that you see at the top of the door for $6.97 at Marshall’s. I thought it was cute and in my favorite black and white!
012
Pumpkin $5.99 at Giant Eagle, I almost choked.lol Needless to say I only bought one!
015
I had every intension of spray painting this lantern black but didn’t get to it!
014
009
Instead of crows this year I did owls… of course Buster knocks the bottom one off with his nose looking out the sidelight.
017
The light at the end of the driveway, the pumpkin I got a while ago at a yardsale for .25, you can use a candle in it if you want but for safeties sake I don’t .
Thanks so much for taking the time to stop by, you are always welcome! Have a great weekend too, gee, it came so fast didn’t it?

Hanging Baskets

Happy Almost Friday! Sure is gloomy here today and rained all day yesterday! So gloomy that I wish it would just go ahead a rain already!
I ‘m feeling okay, I went to the doctors Monday and I have good ole Bronchitis, so I’m on some meds to hopefully clear things up and get better, we leave for Cabo, Mexico on the 26th, our anniversary and I want to be better so I’m taking care of myself. The doctor said to rest, yeah right!
So this morning I went around and took some pictures of the hanging baskets we bought last Saturday, they are huge and were only $13.99 a piece…so thrifty I think when you compare them to ones I’ve seen for $22.99. I grabbed as many as I could!
Yes, that’s me in my work outfit! Love this one, I was going to get a Boston fern like last year but thought I’d try something different since they were so inexpensive.012

Here are my window boxes, I thought I’d try some different plants in here too, I think it will look good once they all fill in a little.
015
I think this is the last year for the window boxes they are getting tired looking, I can’t   complain though I got them a few years ago from a yardsale both for $2.00 so I’ve got my moneys worth out of them and more! They were white then I painted them barn red now they are khaki like the garage door!
016
This basket is at the end of the driveway and that’s my plum tree that we planted last year, I was so glad that it took over the winter, and it did have little pink blossoms on it last month. The tree that was there was hit by lightning and we have sure missed it.
013
The Rhododendron is a lot fuller since the last I showed it and as you can see we still need to weed out and get some new mulch.
014
We are in the back of my house now…gorgeous isn’t it? I n the back you can see one of the two Boston ferns I bought, I always hang them there because they do so well and always make it look cooler on hot days for some reason!
009
LOVE! You can see the pressure washer which Stush used last Sunday on the back of the house!
008
Now can you say Climates? lol Look at it, I just wish it would stay this way thur summer but it hasn’t yet just blooms in the spring. My mom would be so proud! The white stuff that looks like snow on the ground is from a tree that grows way to the right, it gets all over everything.
011
Red Geraniums, wouldn’t be summer without them around!
010
Here are some that I still have to plant, I fell in love with them and have never planted them before.
017
Earlier this morning I went to my oldest, Sydney, grandaughter’s spring concert, this is her last year in elementary… next year she is in 5th grade which means Middle School, just can’t believe it! She is right next to the girl with her hand by her mouth.
006
I got a shot of her when she came down off the stage.
007
I’m so happy to be back and joining these parties:

I’ve missed you all and so glad to be feeling better, it gave me a chance to think about what I want to do with my home so I’ve been writing it down and can’t wait to start on some projects that I so want to do! Thanks so much for your sweet comments and for stopping by…means a lot to me!
