What I’ve Been Up to and Nicholas Won!

Nicholas won and I’m such a proud grammy , look at the cute button Danice of Blessed Holidays and Baby”s Blog made me, isn’t it cute, I love how she put Nicholas in the baby carriage too! Thank you Gina, Debbie, Martina, Debbie Do, Gail, Diana and Mary for taking the time to vote for him♥ Danice is also sending the cutest picture frame with his name on it, I can’t wait to see it! Stop over at Danice’s blog and follow her she has the Linky Follower on her sidebar♥

I’ve been just trying to get some things done around here, it seems every room needs something done, mostly painting trim which is my least favorite thing to do. So I did a little crafting in stead and made this pillow, did I sew it NO just used this handy stuff from JoAnn’s Fabric. Neat stuff and worked really well I was surprised actually.
P2162335
I had this kitchen towel from Target for months and didn’t know what I was going to do with it so I stuck it in the cupboard. I found a small pillow form at GW and figured I’d give it a try. It turned out so cute I think, the directions on the fabric fusion said to pin after gluing until it’s dry so this picture is still with the pins in it.
P2162334
Looks good on the chair I found along side of the road.
P2162333
As you can see it dusk outside so the pictures aren’t the greatest but will give you an idea. Mr. K finally, finally put my curtain rods and curtains up they are the Shabby Chic ones from Target that I’ve had for almost a year still in the package, come April and the rods will be a year old in July.LOL
P2162353
You don’t know how many times I’ve been tempted to do this myself but I just knew it would be a disaster so I waited and waited!  This is the guestroom and as you can see the trim in here is just waiting for some white paint…Gee, I just noticed the drill on top.
I’m thinking that painting the kitchen really took the omph out of us.LOL
P2162351
They do look pretty though don’t you think?
P2162338
Now maybe Saturday we can do the other bedroom, I won’t hold my breath though on that one!
One more thing and then I’ll let you go, if you have joined the Linky Followers on my sidebar and haven’t left a comment telling me it’s so very hard to follow you back which I really want to do, let me know if you have and I’ll follow you right back OK?

Shabby Chic Table!

Hello there bloggy friends! Another warm day upon us and it’s just 10:45 in the AM, that’s fine, so much better than winter.LOL

Would you believe I’ve had this table in the basement for over 6 years? Mr. K and I bought it at a estate sale for $20.00 when we were just dating, it was painted a very dark brown but I could see the potential every time I would go in the basement and put something else on top of it.LOL It was just getting it up the stairs that always turned us away from it, so it took having alot of people here at one time for me to say to him “It’s time!”
I painted it white but can’t remember the name, I know it’s by Valspar, I have to work today so don’t have time to look, I know it’s not Cottage White that’s by Behr anyway!
Here it is……do you like?P7151118
Another view of it!
P7151120
For the wedding it was set under the ferns hanging there with Jenn’s birdcage for the cards and a video of the wedding in North Carolina! Also had pink and white balloons on it.
I thought I got a picture of it but didn’t…just checked:) you can see the shabbiness of it better here. It took three coats of paint, actually I could have got away with two but I thought what the heck it was so easy to paint because you didn’t have to be so very careful.
P7151117
The top of the table! I took the detail sander to it in some places but then ran out of time, company came and I just finished it on Friday in the nick of time!
P7151123
Threw this together for you to see, the impatients always do so well for me in little containers wonder why?
P7151121
Another view!
P7151122
Remember when I showed you this pic of the potting bench? I had started to staple and gather left over drop cloth but didn’t have enough to finish, well, I bought a drop cloth bigger this time and just didn’t get it done.
P6241004
The morning of the picnic my two good friends Betty and Paula who helped me get everything placed decided to do this just to get it covered for the day. Now a decorating question for you…what can I do to it now I hate to take it down, getting it gathered is hard because there is only a half inch or inch to attach it to, I would so appreciate it if you had any ideas…..what could I add to it to enhance it? My decorating brain is froze!!! Dosen’t look good I know but was okay for the picnic. The drop cloth is double in half and just fit it all the way around, what would you do?
P7151124
Here’s what the shelf looked like for the picnic.
P7151125
The pool….alot of work but oh, so worth it!

Shabby Chic Curtains~Sunday Favorites

Hi everyone! I hope you are enjoying your weekend, I'm very busy what with getting everything ready for the trip. I'm participating today with a great linky party Sunday Favorites the 98th one!!! These pictures were taken with my old camera, wow, what a difference! Stop over today to see some great posts, thanks Chari for hosting♥
Or as Mr. K would say “Shabby Sheick”… gotta love him!
I finally got them up today, the windows are all open and the AC is off and it’s a beautiful day! I love them, so what do you think? I just wish I had a better more expensive camera, the walls look like a pale yellow but the paint color is called Buff.
 100_3287
Here is what it looked like before the shabby bug bit me, I don’t miss it though, that’s how I know it was time for a change.
 100_2585
The chair I had found along the road years ago and had it stained and I had also given to my daughter, since she wasn’t using it and was in her garage I knew it was destined to be painted white.
100_3272
Here it is distressed and the pillow I found brand new at a yardsale for $3.00 it’s black ticking!
100_3273
Now I’d like your opinion…I only used one panel where ever I put the curtains, do you think I should use two? I just don’t want a drapey look I still want to be able to view the outside. This is one set of doors on the left side of the fireplace…
100_3279
In the picture below, door is on the left of the picture and the window on the right is where my dining room table is, so you see I don’t want a wall of curtains, if you know what I mean. The doors only open on the side without the panel. I hope I haven’t totally confused you.LOL
100_3276
I couldn’t resist showing the chandy again, the computer in the corner is my Mr. K’s he wants a roll top desk for the bedroom so that hopefully will be out of the corner someday, my lap top is on the table. My dream is to paint the Hoosier white and put the laptop on there, the thought of painting it is tiring though but it needs to be done.
100_3277
Thanks so much for stopping by I so appreciate it and BTW I love your comments too♥

Working on My Bedroom!

As you can see it’s pretty bare looking but looks alot better than it did, I took my time in choosing  something I really loved for the bed and Friday I found it at Target (love that store). I had seen it on line but was so happy to see it there on the shelf to really get a good look at it and feel the material. I may put the blue washstand that I painted cafe blue (and still need to get hardware for, just don’t know if I should get black or the brushed silver) on the other side of the bed, what I have there now is to small so I’ll be on the lookout for something bigger. I can feel GW calling my name…I haven’t been there in a while, yikes!
P2280319
The two decorative pillows I found at TJMaxx, in the next photo you can get a closer look at them.

P2280315
Love them!
P2280321
I have the shabby chic curtains just need to get curtain rods, I also moved the basket I found at Michael’s in the bedroom.
P2280320
The picture isn’t good of the paint job on the washstand which was free by the way, I only spent $2 .49 on the Behr Cafe Blue paint sample:) the weather here is windy with rain so I didn’t really expect good pictures  anyway, the paint is as I said Cafe Blue. It had all been stained oak so I painted it…  then with dark brown craft paint mixed with a medium(which I already had) I did the top and all over it and quickly wiped it off…came out great and I’m happy with it!
P2280317
I thought you would like to see where I blog from, not the best home office but I’m working on that in my head.LOL  TJMaxx had a white leather and chrome computer chair, I sat in it and loved and wanted it but didn’t have the extra $125.00 to take it home, oh well wasn’t  meant to be as I always tell myself! Here is a question for you, do you think I should paint the diningroom table legs Cottage White? Looking at the picture I think I should.LOL The dry sink there is now a catch all but it will be leaving soon and the bench that I still have to do the seat on will be there in place of it.
P2240303
I love to decorate but still find time to go to Sydney’s basketball game, they won the championship and she also made a basket!
P2260310
P2260309
I hope everyone is having a good day wherever you are and I for one am so glad this is the end of February!
Make me smile today, leave a comment:)

I’m Featured and So Thrilled!

Hi everyone, Nurse Rachett here…no just kidding, Mr.K is doing fine and resting on the couch but boy have I been busy, picking up prescriptions, groceries and to the bank, I didn’t realize all he did in a day.LOL Anyway, here is my sweet hutch/china cabinet, I still have to distress and stain but loving it anyway, and guess what http://debbie-debbiedoos.blogspot.com/2011/02/something-nice-and-pretty.html is featuring me, yes, me!!! Can you tell that I”m thrilled? Thank you so much Deb, I’ve been floating on a cloud all week since you emailed me:)
 P2110237
I put these handles on myself BTW and they are on sale at Lowes too! I kept the original ones on the doors, I just couldn’t find any I liked instead.
P2110239
This is to the left…
P2110238
and this is to the right!
P2110243
Put my GW cloche in here on top of a white book.P2110247
I found this galvanized pail at a yardsale for .25 and when I did the framed chalkboard I painted a some on here and added a 7 with some chalk and do you know it’s not easy to buy white chalk, at least around here. Lowes doesn’t sell it, Walmart was all out of it and finally found one package left at Rite Aid.LOL
P2110248
This is a quick one ladies but wanted to get this post up, now I”m off to red up the kitchen and then hopefully sit and look at the new Country Living:)
I’m joining  http://romantichome.blogspot.com/2011/02/show-and-tell-friday_10.html for her Show and Tell party♥

I’m Still Not Satisfied!

This is the Before picture, to me too white…

 100_3351

and the After…there is a difference isn’t there? I do know I’ll never buy pure white again but live and learn:)

I’m sure learning and I guess that’s what it’s all about, trouble is I want it perfect like I see in blogland that just make me sigh but I’ll get there one day. Thank you to those that commented and explained how to do the glaze, I do like glazing I just have to sand alot more I think, even when I was prim I hesitated to sand alot.lol This picture was taken at night and pretty close as to the true color of the paint on the walls, sometimes it shows green but it isn’t.

100_3406

You can see some of the glaze here, do you think I need to sand more?

100_3393

The bowl I bought at Walmart the other day, my daughter is off all week and it seems that’s all we did was shop! I did pick up some stocking stuffers for the girls at Toy’s R Us so I guess I’ve started Christmas shopping!

100_3402

This tea cup I bought at TJMax I thought it would look good here!

100_3401

I also glazed my chair and the ceramic pot of tiny rosebuds I found at GW for $1.99.

100_3395

Here’s the back of it, I do love this.

100_3396

This mirror my SIL gave me, love the bevel on the mirror but looks like I smeared it when I tried to clean some glaze off of it.

100_3400

The next three pictures are of some GW finds and I have more that I’ll do in another post, getting sick sure put me back on comments and showing my finds! Anyway, I found this bunny for Easter for $2.00 I just couldn’t pass him up, he’s made of Hydrangeas.100_3398

I think I lucked out with him for spring time, he’s put away until then.

100_3399

I also found this picture at Gw for $1.99 it’s titled Afternoon Snack, I’m sort of liking the gold frame for now!

100_3394

I thought this little container for seeds was neat, inside are compartments for different seeds!

100_3403

These are from Dutch Boy, I’m leaning towards the one on the right which is called Kiss of Cream and the left one is Weathered White. I got them at Walmart but had to leave the paint area because Samantha wanted me to see Barbie’s Townhouse that she wants Santa to bring her:)

100_3397

Well, that’s all ladies for now anyway…I’m linking to Faded Charm for White Wednesday and Kim’s Before and After Party please stop by to see all the wonderful talent out in blogland!
