Rag Heart

I’ve seen these rag hearts all over the internet and Pinterest for years now and I’ve always wanted to make one, so finally I did. I bought the white muslin at Walmart at 1/2 a yard, ripped it down the side
cut to the length that I wanted and tied it on the wire I had shaped into a heart. Easy!
Look how cute.

They look sweet anywhere I think.

You can see I’ve been fooling around with the china cabinet by putting books on a shelf and I
think the rag heart just added to it.

I love it and I’m so glad I took the time to do it, I’m working on another project so stay tuned for it.

I knew this wouldn’t be the best picture but you can see how it looks outside without me going out in it! We are still having cold temps and had more snow yesterday, I saw on the news that my
southern friends might be getting hit again, my advice is just stay in if you really don’t have to go out.

Keep warm and craft, I made the rag heart while we watched Captain Phillips
Saturday evening, what a great movie, I don’t think Tom Hanks ever made a
bad movie do you? And those Navy Seals…thank God for them.

A Valentine for MY Mantle

The silver metal tray was just not doing it for me…I tried a dough bowl but…still to dark looking.
I had to take these photos after dark because I watched the girls and also had to finish this project!
Finally learned how to take the yellow out of the pics…thank you Pic Monkey!
Valentine craft 006
Here is the mantle when I first did it and I did try to shop my home but just couldn’t find anything that I liked! Then I thought about  Valentine’s Day and how it will be here in less than a month and right away I got on Pinterest, because I knew I had pinned something the other day that I wanted to try and make.
after Christmas 001
Isn’t it adorable? Sara from Cozy. Cottage. Cute. made this for her hubby and she put a lot of thought into it, me, not so much! When I went to buy a heart punch I couldn’t find a one in my area, JoAnn’s was all sold out and only had one left but the heart on it was teeny tiny. So at the Dollar Tree I grabbed a bag of heart stickers to trace around and cut out the hearts from a  DT book. Looking at Sara’s I know I didn’t want to cut out all those hearts so I used this frame that I already had and knew I'd only have to cut out a few, which made me happy!

Looking at Sara’s I know I didn’t want to cut out all those hearts so I used this frame with a smaller mat that I already had and knew I'd only have to cut out a few, which made me happy!

I think it is just what the mantel needed, seems to give it some balance now don’t you think?

Another AS Chalkpaint Project and Some Pretty Pumpkins

Hello! I hope your having a good evening, great fall weather today and I’m so loving it and enjoying it too, it will be gone before we know it friends!
I’m showing the centerpiece on my diningroom table, I found the nice, strong basket at GW a week or so ago for $2.00! In it I used things from last year that I’ve done, I used glitter glue on the white pumpkin and the pear is covered with cinnamon it’s held up great since I did it a couple years ago.
I’ve also tried Pic Monkey as you can tell with the text in the middle of the photo. Some things on there are pretty neat I just have to experiment more.
Fall 2012 010
I’ve had this oil painting since the 70’s, I wanted to keep the frame because he had chosen it but I needed it to be a different color. So out came the AS Chalkpaint in French Linen. This pic is from when I remembered to take a picture using a piece of cardboard so that I didn’t have to take the picture out to paint the frame, worked great!
Fall 2012 007
Here it is completed! A great fall picture for the mantle that I keep changing over and over. lol
Fall 2012 008
You can see where I have to do any crafting, my poor diningroom. Yes, that’s a shower curtain that I bought at a rummage sale for .25, I use it to paint on any crafts that I do. You can see that I did darken it with a medium and black craft paint and I’ll show it when I’m done with my mantel, okay?

A Really Fast Patriotic Wreath & I Was Featured

I needed a fast patriotic wreath, like now! I stopped in at JoAnn’s to see if they had anything to make one or buy and they had nothing, you won’t believe it but they have autumn wreaths out and autumn everything being put out on the shelves! I’m sorry but let me enjoy summer first, I mean it wasn’t even July 1st yet! I couldn’t even find patriotic ribbon in there! I had been in Hallmark first and had noticed  red ribbon with a white stripe
down the center of it, but with a 40% coupon I figured why not, I was desperate plus it was hot outside and I didn’t want to be running around to different stores, so I bought a roll of it ! Also bought some patriotic garland at DT to use and some polka dotted bows.
Here’s my fast, Patriotic wreath:
001

When I got home I went to the basement and looked thur my stash and found this grapevine wreath with a rusty, star garland wrapped around it from my prim days! So what I did was get out my glitter glue and apply it to the rusty stars, I used red and blue glitter!
024
023
Not the greatest but still good in a hurry!
025
Some flags in the planter!
021

The red geraniums I placed in an old marshmallow tin on the back porch!
020
I still have to paint a few chairs for around this table but it has been so hot everyday, we lost power last Friday at about 8 PM and didn’t it come back on till Saturday at about 11 Am. So Stush made eggs and bacon on the grill plus coffee in an old tin percolator…so good too!
013
I also was so pleased and happy when Natasha from Natasha in Oz featured my Crate and Barrel kitchen rug…thanks Natasha!
004
I hope everyone has a safe and wonderful 4th of July!

A Sisal Vase

I know I don’t craft a lot just seems like I never have the time or when I do I’m just not in the mood or I don’t have enough supplies on hand. I blog hop a lot because I love seeing what everyone is doing like crafting or decorating especially decorating! Sometime last month I stopped by Naptime Decorator Liz had made the cutest vase out of sisal and I thought “I can do that” so I bought the sisal at Lowes and the vase at, where else The Dollar Tree, I already had the glue gun and sticks! Both sat on my kitchen bar till yesterday, I decided to do it because I was sick of looking at the supplies all the time and not feeling productive every time I walked by. You know what though? After I was done I felt terrific, like hey, I made this? Know the feeling?
Here’s mine and it’s so easy to do, the link above takes you right to Liz’s tutorial, btw she has one great blog too, stop by and say hi!
002
I think it looks great with the faux hydrangeas!
001
003
I like to do quick and easy crafts♥
004
Looks very Pottery Barnish too me! I have it right by the kitchen sink, I saw that idea on Pinterest!

I Forgot to Show You

The sun is shining this morning, so pretty outside, trees are blooming their pretty flowers and the grass is getting greener and greener by the day! Soon Mr. K will be riding the lawn mower around this big yard. I hope it’s sunny wherever you are!
I’ve taken pictures and loaded them onto the computer and sometimes I just forget that I took them, so today I’m going to show some that I took and didn’t post.
I needed something on the small space of a wall right there between the cupboard door and the door jam, something that wouldn’t stick out and mark the cupboard door when Mr. K opened it(not me,( I’m always careful;0) I didn’t want the pear picture back up there so decided to find something that was flat. About a month ago I stopped at The Salvation Army on the way home from getting my hair done,

P2202410
I found this breadboard for a 1.39 thinking I could stain it if nothing else. Then I remembered the stencils I had bought at Walmart and my stencil sponge at Hobby Lobby and decided to stencil it. Turned out great and I love the stencil sponge that I had a 40% off coupon and got it for $1.29!
P3182665
I didn’t stain it, I just left as is, the black at the bottom was already there. It’s flat and doesn’t stick out to harm the cupboard door!
P3182667
Also took this picture, I went down to the basement and brought out my popcorn crock/vase and the hydrangeas that I had bought from JoAnn’s a year or so ago.
P3192680
A trip to Target and I found this neat basket for $14.99.
P3192681
The turtles are from Jamaica, the wood one is all hand carved and I think I paid $5.00 for it. We leave May 26th, our 6th anniversary, for Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. I’ve never been in the Pacific Ocean so I’ll have to wet my ankles, that’s about as far as I go.lol
P3192682
Here’s another one I didn’t share yet, the rattan vase that I found at either TJMaxx or Marshall’s and paid about $8.00 for it.
P3102586
This photo is a “just because” I think it’s pretty! I think it’s one of the first pieces of furniture my mom bought when my mom and dad married.
P3012496
Buster, this is where he usually is with his head on the windowsill waiting for Stush to come home, sometimes he barks when he sees an animal such as a squirrel but when he spies the blue car all hell breaks lose and he takes off running thur the house to the door.lol
P3022513
Have you seen this quote from Will Rodgers on Pinterest? Love it!

Hope you enjoyed my post today, have a wonderful one! Please leave a comment, when I come home from work it’s so nice and relaxing to sit down and read what you took the time to say♥
