Shiny Nightstand

Hi friends! I hope you all had a great weekend, we did, beautiful weather here in Pa. I think today is at about 80 degrees and a nice breeze with it too. Yesterday we worked out back to clean things up a bit, with a lot of yard you have a lot of work but we finished in time to go to a picnic!
The day before I had the bright idea to buy some Valspar spray paint in Metallic but when I got to Lowe’s all they had was metal, so I decided to give it a go on my nightstand which I had found for $15.00 at a yardsale, I’ve always loved seeing pictures of shiny, painted furniture from other blogs and thought I’d try it myself.
Here it is, not great but not bad either:
I found the gray lamp and shade for $2.00 at a yardsale this past May, I’m on the lookout for a different one and in fact looked for one Friday but just didn’t find anything I liked, I’m thinking of painting the bottom white, what do you think?
005
This is the only picture I could find that shows a before of the nightstand, painted white.

I even sprayed right over the ceramic knob!

007
It’s different…I’ll admit but I like different sometimes don’t you?

To see it better I turned the light on, I will be truthful, I gave it three coats and it came out splotchy on the top and sides and legs so I asked Stush to fix it for me and after he finished I was so happy that it wasn’t ruined.
011
Also while at Lowes I looked at some paint chips for this room I’m really tired of the Gold Sand, so I pinned this to the wall above my desk to see how the light effects the three shades of gray. I’m sort of leaning towards the middle one, Gravity by Valspar. Oh, and the cutie in the top left of the picture is Nicholas, he will be celebrating his 1st birthday this coming week! I can’t believe he is going to be one already but he’s walking around now and so sweet:) Blurred to respect privacy.

{Dreaming}

I can’t wait for this! It has rained all day today, really hard too! At least though it wasn’t the 6 inches of snow that was forecasted, people near the mountains got that.
So today I’m dreaming of this, sometimes I’ll read here swinging back and forth.

I think I’m going to spray paint the table blue, I was going to last year but we had the wedding/picnic and I just didn’t have time, I think this year is time for it!

I fell in love with the blue when I saw Mary’s from The Decorative Dreamer table, isn’t it sweeeeet! Love it! Stop by Mary’s blog, she just put in an in ground pool last year and is making the outside of her home so pretty!.

Painted Pumpkins!

I had fun painting pumpkins this year, I painted all the ones from last year and still have two more to do!
I just used good old spraypaint for the two on the table then tied with black ribbon around the stem!
P9171457
The zebra table runner looks good with them for fall!
P9171428
Painted this one black!
P9171430
Used white ribbon and a stick from my yard on it!
P9171431
These next two are on my mantel, I used a glitter pen to trace down each side!
P9171437
The candle holders are from the Dollar Tree and I spraypainted them white and tied with a polka dot bow, I think the starfish lends a neat look to it! The bottle I found at the church rummage sale for a $1.00!

Are you having fun painting pumpkins!

Shabby Chic Table!

Hello there bloggy friends! Another warm day upon us and it’s just 10:45 in the AM, that’s fine, so much better than winter.LOL

Would you believe I’ve had this table in the basement for over 6 years? Mr. K and I bought it at a estate sale for $20.00 when we were just dating, it was painted a very dark brown but I could see the potential every time I would go in the basement and put something else on top of it.LOL It was just getting it up the stairs that always turned us away from it, so it took having alot of people here at one time for me to say to him “It’s time!”
I painted it white but can’t remember the name, I know it’s by Valspar, I have to work today so don’t have time to look, I know it’s not Cottage White that’s by Behr anyway!
Here it is……do you like?P7151118
Another view of it!
P7151120
For the wedding it was set under the ferns hanging there with Jenn’s birdcage for the cards and a video of the wedding in North Carolina! Also had pink and white balloons on it.
I thought I got a picture of it but didn’t…just checked:) you can see the shabbiness of it better here. It took three coats of paint, actually I could have got away with two but I thought what the heck it was so easy to paint because you didn’t have to be so very careful.
P7151117
The top of the table! I took the detail sander to it in some places but then ran out of time, company came and I just finished it on Friday in the nick of time!
P7151123
Threw this together for you to see, the impatients always do so well for me in little containers wonder why?
P7151121
Another view!
P7151122
Remember when I showed you this pic of the potting bench? I had started to staple and gather left over drop cloth but didn’t have enough to finish, well, I bought a drop cloth bigger this time and just didn’t get it done.
P6241004
The morning of the picnic my two good friends Betty and Paula who helped me get everything placed decided to do this just to get it covered for the day. Now a decorating question for you…what can I do to it now I hate to take it down, getting it gathered is hard because there is only a half inch or inch to attach it to, I would so appreciate it if you had any ideas…..what could I add to it to enhance it? My decorating brain is froze!!! Dosen’t look good I know but was okay for the picnic. The drop cloth is double in half and just fit it all the way around, what would you do?
P7151124
Here’s what the shelf looked like for the picnic.
P7151125
The pool….alot of work but oh, so worth it!

As you can see!

I Have Never Painted So Much!

I know I’ve said this before but getting ready for a wedding/picnic at your home is just amazing, you do one thing and that leads to another plus things that should have been done in the early spring that you let go because you knew you were having a wedding/picnic in July… you let go…now were scrambling and we are also sooooooooooo tired!
Here are a few of things I’ve done…
P6090925
I’ve painted every birdhouse I’ve had for years white also did the bench you see it sitting on, I bought it at a yardsale for &10.00. It’s very heavy and a nice size bench and as you can see it was painted dark brown. That’s the nest that was in my wreath on the porch!
Here it is now, spray painted a lime green that I found in the oops paint section for $1.50, then I had almost a full can of Pistachio paint and did that over top! The hens, as I call them were from GW and had string on them to hang, I used them that way last year, but the strings broke and I thought they would look pretty this way. I spray painted them a flat white and planted some pink impatients in them, they turned out really cute!
P7021033
I didn’t do these, Mr.K surprised me by doing both of them while I went shopping with my bff Friday. I dreaded doing them because they were wood and varnished and just plain out of date looking, I’m happy with how they look… so cottagey!
P7021031
I also moved some furniture around, I moved the bench from this corner and put my washstand here instead, the one with the ribbon handles, like it so much better! The purple flowers I found at Gabe’s and the basket at Tuesday Mornings! See the old bottle there next to the flowers? I found the neatest thing at Marshall’s Friday!
P7021028
You can use it on bottles for a candle holder or tea light, the candle would have to be a bigger one than we are used to though, here I’ll show you…see how it fits right down in the bottle? It cost $5.99 but I think it was worth it! I think old bottles look neat with candles in them don’t you? They would be great with wine bottles or bottles with the wicker around them too!
P7021022
Here’s what it looks like by it’s self!
P7021023
Right now I have a tea light in it but will have to look for bigger candles! Neat huh?
P7021021
Oh, almost forgot, here is the basket with a metal label on it that says in French Fleurs and cost only $6.99!
P7021025
Well, I’ll be showing more painting projects in the next couple days, hope you will all come back soon! In the mean time I’ll be joining these great parties listed below:)

Chalkboard Paint for Summer!

I’ve always wanted to do this but just never got around to it last summer so when the  Summer Block/blog party started up I was bound and determined to get this done, to finally paint some planters like what’s on the paint can.
P3080371
I just did the rims of the planters, don’t ask me why maybe it’s because I ‘vet worked two weekends in a row and we are trying to get everything done before the wedding/picnic on July 9th so much to do and it’s either so hot out or like this morning rainy and cloudy! I guess it will all come together before then:)
So here they are…I know, I know to much space between the two he's I’ll fix that before the 9th…hopefully! I also used chalk ink from Michael’s, so much better than regular chalk!
P6200987
Here is a peek at my potting bench Mr. K built for me, I’m still not done adding to it. Does anyone have any suggestions, I’d be so happy to have your help on it, sometimes another pair of eyes can see something that I don’t especially with all the other projects I’m trying to get done:0  The window is from my BIL’s family home garage and heavy isn’t the word for it!
P6200986
I did find these on sale at Joann's for 60% off and hung them on the side or do you think they would look better hung on the choppy window on either side of the glass part?
P6200985
Seems like I need more color down here on the shelf too!
P6200984
I do like this arrangement but seems so skimpy or something!
P6200983

Talk about painting projects I still have these to do, I didn’t give them a fresh coat of paint last summer so this year they really are screaming for me to do it ! This yellow is called Yellow Crème!
P6200990
The large planter is from Walmart, love them because they look so real but are light as a feather! I got the top part of this vintage chair done and still have to do the very bottom. I have four of these chairs in different styles and all were given to me!
P6200988
I hope you enjoyed reading my post today, stop by the block party to see what everyone’s been doing!
