Happy 2016!!!

Happy 2016!!!
The year 2015 sure went by fast it wasn't good health wise for me so I'm hoping and praying
that 2016 is a healthy one. Right now I'm nursing a cold and happy that is all it is!

I thought I'd show the rest of my Christmas pictures and then my newly painted bath
room next time.
I have this red mirrored tray sitting on my coffee table and did it a little different s
this year by scattering bells and and snowflakes on it. The berry ring and candle/vase
are from Target!

Here is another tray that I have on the diningroom table...different candle
sticks and greenery plus pinecones made a great diy centerpiece!

.Remember when I bought the birch logs? I still use them all year long!

A little of my entryway...with the door open! I got the hubbs to put this mirror
back up so now I'm looking for a narrow bench or table for in here.

I'll be back to show you my newly painted bathroom!

See the white vases in my hutch? They are now all sitting on top
of my gray chest of drawers, I’ve seen that in a couple homes and
always wanted to try it! I moved furniture around in my bedroom
so I’ll have to take some pictures for you!

My coffee table with the lantern from Target and the ceramic leaf
that I found at a yardsale for $3.00, I almost sold it last year but
decided to hang on to it, I like the white pumpkins on it.

My livingroom, the little pumpkins I got at TJMaxx and the galvanized container
I found at Goodwill. The basket on the hearth with the birch logs in it I found at
a church sale and painted gray!

Snowy February

Hi everyone! Well, we woke up to more snow and the schools had a two hour delay!
Plus cold temps…someday it will be over and I can look out my window and see green.LOL
In the meantime I’ve been playing around the rooms in my home,  seeing what I like and
don’t like. In the livingroom I didn’t like the burlap and red lampshade that was on the
lamp so I had this lamp in my stash and decided to use it instead, the lamp that was there
originally is now in the guestroom and the snowball wreath is hanging in there, I’ll be so
happy when I put that away! Anyway, I think this lampshade goes with the black and white
I have going on in the room!

I finally decided to paint the bamboo mirror, my hubs spray-painted
it in the garage for me since it was so cold out, I used flat black, do
you think I should have used the enamel one?

Here is my mantel nothing spectacular but you can tell I do love the black
and white.

Changing Décor for Christmas

Next year I’m going to start Christmas decorating earlier than the day
after Thanksgiving! I just change things around to much…I just finished
up everything that was bothering me!
Changed out the boxwood wreath for the black star!

045

Added bows that I made to each side of the mantel and a picture I found at Marshall’s
also red beaded garland that was my mothers!
047

I love these cute little chalkboard clips with the grandkids name on them!

051

I’m really liking the black in with the red and silver so I got out these
old plastic snowmen…maybe from the 40’s or 50’.
049

I also love some sparkle so I used this gift box from Dollar Tree to give the old
bottle brush tree some height!
050
Pillows are such an important part of decorating for any
style, I had this ticking stripe one and tied a red, velvet
bow around it!

054

Here it is with the other Christmas pillows!

053

I hope you are all having a wonderful Sunday before Christmas, cold here and
we are supposed to have snow for Christmas Day!

Merry Christmas!!!

A Little Bit of This and That

I’ve had this post saved and just have been busy so I’m going to go ahead and hit publish it without any changes to it, hope
you don’t mind! I don’t have to much to do on my project it’s just getting the time to do it!
Hi everyone, it’s been a busy month for me and probably for you too!
Thanksgiving is next week, our 21# turkey is in the fridge thawing out for
the big day. Until then I’ve been trying not to get overwhelmed/stressed out… just
trying to enjoy the days whether they are spent Christmas shopping or just being at
home. I usually wait until the day after Thanksgiving to decorate for Christmas
but was getting my fall dishes out of the cabinet when I found these Williams Sonoma
mugs I had found at Goodwill a couple years ago and decided to enjoy them now

iphone2 002
I also decided to move my cookbooks from above the fridge to up above my
stove and I couldn’t resist putting a faux poinsettia up there too. Once I put the
lighted garland up there it will really look nice!

iphone 3 018

I have most everything out just waiting to be put in their special places…things
from Target, TJMaxx and Walmart! I’ll get it all put together right after turkey
day, it’s so hard to wait when I see all the great inspiration out there in blogland
and on instagram!

My oldest grandchild Sydney turned 13 this past week… I can’t believe it! We celebrated by
having her friends and family at the bowling alley to bowl and have pizza! I’m so proud
of her she does so well in school and sports.
iphone 3 022

Here are her friends , they had such a good time, and  it was fun for me just
to sit back and watch Sydney have such a good time!
iphone 3 023
My Fridays have been taken up by football, my oldest son coaches a highschool team
and they made it to the semi finals , here he is talking to a reporter. I will say that I
froze at every game that we played lately, I don’t do cold very well! Well, the
game before we would play at Heinz Field we lost, he did such an incredible job
with those kids. No matter how old your kids get your heart still hurts when they
hurt!

I’m glad I’m caught up now, I’m decorating for Christmas and I’ll be taking pictures
for you to see!

Fall Love

Hi Everyone, It’s getting colder here…Saturday night down to 37, it just came to fast for me.
I’m in the house today because it’s really windy out and hard rain coming in as the forecaster
says, so I’ve been taking a few pictures of fall around here for you to see!
Fall vintgnets 012
Since I’m stuck in the house I wanted to see if my fall plates and glasses were okay for the holidays, plus found and washed the napkins.
My centerpiece is from around the house this year also except for the mini pumpkins I got those at Walmart!
Fall vintgnets 006
Love the glittery pumpkins on the tea cart they seem to shine on the tray!
Fall vintgnets 011
Fall vintgnets 010
I’m thinking of painting the hutch a light gray because when the walls in the kitchen
and where my desk is are gray we won’t be painting the livingroom or diningroom…so
I’m thinking that it would be a good idea to do the hutch gray! I do like it white but I
think it’s time for a change.
Fall vintgnets 002
My son was throwing this rug in his garbage when I stopped him I’ve always loved it and
now it’s in my diningroom!

The hoosier always gets a pumpkin and an old pumpkin pie spice tin!

I hope you enjoyed my fall vignettes, thanks for stopping by so appreciated!

Nate Berkus Rug

If you have followed me for a while now you know I change the rug in here almost monthly,  I
just couldn’t find the right one that had all my requirements for this room.
It needed not to show dog hair and not show the crumbs that come from the kitchen that is off of it and has heavy traffic from the garage,
so I had to deal with the dirt and grease that comes from there. Couldn’t use a light colored one and it was hard to find a darker one
that I liked.
A trip to Target solved the problem, a Nate Berkus rug (I think you have all seen this rug in the rug aisle.) I loved it but not the price!
I walked out of there with it for $28.99 on sale.
And it’s reversible!
Nate's rug 008
I took a picture of the whole room with the rug but it just didn’t turn out, the sun was shining thur the big window with no curtains
that I took down, getting ready to paint here guys…so happy the colors on the walls will be gone that I have grown so tired of!  I’ll
try to get better pictures of the rug in the room and post them. You can see a little of it below.
Now here is my dilemma with lamps…remember the crock lamp that I talked about here?
Well, now I feel it just doesn’t go but Nate says to decorate with the things that matter and I do love it
but I feel it would bother me every time I looked at it.
hoosier 1214 019
Here is one that you can see a little of the rug also the paint swatches I did, none worked, to much blue
which I don’t want!
I have this lamp on there now.
Nate's rug 004
Tried it with the burlap shade and didn’t like it with the lamp base.

I’ve also been busy with my gallery wall in my diningroom, adding pictures here and there to get an “added as
time goes by look.” Different frames and colored and black and white photos all mixed together.
hoosier 1214 022
Loving the simplicity of this centerpiece
and the vase I used rope on.
hoosier 1214 024

I took down a tureen to put a basket of faux hydrangeas on top of the hutch.

I hope you all had a wonderful Easter! I can finally say that spring is here in Pa.

Christmas Home Tour 2013

I’m joining the Nester’s Christmas Tour of Homes like I do every year, wouldn’t seem like Christmas without her tour.
I’ll start with the livingroom, my mantel constantly gets changed around and this year I brought more red into my home,
so when I saw the wreath at Target I had to get it along with a couple bottle brush trees.

Christmas 2013 002
Here is my newest Christmas pillow isn’t it cute?

Christmas 2013 008
