New Cloche

Hey everyone! How are you tonight? Got home from work had dinner and then got on here to join all the great parties going on today!
I found this cloche at TJMaxx a couple weeks ago and just put it out Saturday but really couldn’t figure what to put in it that I haven’t done before, this one is different, it has a pedestal that came with it.
So I went to my pinterest board Cloche Ideas and decided to do the one with the book pages tied with twine. It’s the first picture on the board and if you want to follow me on Pinterest I’d love it!

I don’t tear up old books just ones that weren’t a good read and are usually from Goodwill.

I also bought a white mat for the picture of New York City now just have to get a black frame. The scale I found for $5.00 at a community yardsale a couple summers ago!

Sofa Covered with No Sew Dropcloths

I don’t know if I’m the first to ever do this but I thought you may want to know how I bought drop cloths from Lowes and covered my sofa with them, maybe  you have a sofa that you are tired of and would like to try it too.
My sofa is blue denim and more then 10 years old and it’s still going strong, in fact I don’t think it will ever wear out! I’m tired of the blue so I decided to cover it with a slipcover BUT my sofa is so big 96” long and that’s the problem I have with it. The only slipcover that would fit is from Pottery Barn at $179.00… not happening!!!
I knew there had to be a way to deal with this problem, I just had to figure it out! So I bought the largest drop cloth that Lowes had, it cost about $25.00 and (I’ve washed it about 3 times so it’s starting to get soft.) threw it over my couch, immediately I liked the off white look. Then the other day I happened to find that I had a smaller dropcloth in my stash and wondered if I could use it to cover just the seat cushions. here’s how it turned out!
You can see how huge the arms are!

My husband lays on the sofa almost every evening and all I have to do is smooth it out, doesn’t really come out of where I have it tucked in!

I think it has pulled the livingroom together and it only cost me $25.00!

Here is my diningroom without the bookcase in it. Gives us a lot more room.

Debbiedoo’s Copy Cat!

Well, you know me, when I do a copy cat it’s always Pottery Barn, just can’t get enough of their catalogs, but their prices are just to high for me! Just watch out if I ever hit the Power Ball though (which I don’t play but hubby does ) lol. Anyway, here is the page I copied.
004
This is as close as I got it! I got the brainy idea to buy a dropcloth at Lowe’s for $21.00 instead of PB’s $99.00 one! Brought it home and washed it and it did make the dropcloth really soft. I may bleach it next time it goes in the wash.
012
I’m a little disappointed in it but it sure isn’t blue anymore and does brighten up the room. Now for a new rug:) My husband doesn’t want to hear about that. Ha!

Dumpster Diving on Mother’s Day

Did you all have a wonderful Mother’s Day? I did too, rained all day though and it has continued to this morning! A little tired of it so hopefully the sun will come out today for a little bit, I know one thing it sure is green outside!
Guess what I did on Mother’s Day? I went dumpster diving…we live right near a college town and Saturday was graduation and you know what that means don’t you? Everything is put/thrown out to the curb that they don’t want or can’t take back home with them. One year we found a beautiful, white lounge chair for by the pool, from Lowes and we knew it sold for $45.00. This year I found this…out by a dumpster, I had went to the store and decided to take a look at the dumpster across the street from our college rental and there she sat waiting for me. She’s heavy but I finally got her in the back of the car, poor thing look at the different color markings they/she put on her?
001
002
But wait look at the one side of her, She is a Basset and has great bones, this will be my new desk!
003
Yesterday I had a doctor’s appointment so after that I decided to go to the Salvation Army Store, a much neater and cleaner place then GW but more expensive, I did find a few things though.
This bottle, on the left, caught my eye since I need more to fill up the tray that I took bottles from for my PB Copy Cat, I still have them sitting on the table. Anyway I think I paid a $1.99 for it, it’s not old but that’s okay!
004
I found this for $1.49, I’m going to paint it black and remove the hooks, where I will put it I’m not sure yet.
010
Here was a great find, I love it and the colors in it, a very well made picture and frame and looks to be an expensive one at that. It had $9.99 on it but it was 50% off yesterday so for $5.00 it was mine!
005
A closer look!
006
I just hung it here so I could see what it would look like on my wall. If I keep it here I’d lower it a little.
As you can see in this picture I’m moving things here and there, stay tuned for my big project that Stush is doing for me!
