Random Things Friday

Hello everyone!
It’s beautiful here in Pennsylvania, the sky couldn’t be more blue and the mums are so pretty, I’m going
to enjoy fall just the same as I enjoyed this summer.

I’ve been exercising ( Turbo Jam ) and walking/jogging watching what I eat plus drinking this:

XO 006

I chose to drink the chocolate vegan which is so good, it has also
given me energy which I forgot what it was like to have.
I’m still on my first bag of Shakeology so I’ll let you know my progress
in a couple weeks.

I stopped by Goodwill a couple weeks ago and found this bamboo mirror for
a couple dollars, I don’t know whether to paint it or not so right now I’m
keeping it the way it is.

XO 004
Here it is in the diningroom, I also found the hanging cornucopia for 1.00 at a yardsale. I forgot to remove the
photo albums on the table, we had company from Vermont last week so they were brought out!
XO 005

I’ve also been to Michael’s and used a 40% coupon on these metal letters, you can hang them
on the wall or have them stand like I did. I chose the X and O because there weren’t many letters
left.
XO 001
I finally found this stashed away in a box, I was so happy to find it… I thought
it had got thrown away by mistake.
XO 009
Now I can’t find the blue pumpkin I painted last year.Sad smile

I’m also loven black and white

Have a wonderful weekend… there is a neat yardsale tomorrow that I’m going
to go to, hope I find something!

Mirrors in My Bedroom

bedroom 2 012
As I said in a post a couple days ago I have just been trying to find something for my wall
above my bed, I’m not very good at this it seems but when I saw Angela’s( Number Fifty Three) wall in her
diningroom I drooled and decided to try it in my bedroom. Love, love her home! I just adore how
Angela combines different decorating styles in her home…perfection! You can see in the photo
below how neat this wall looks!

I changed the nightstand again!!! Just trying to find what works, it needed something because of the dark
wood top, I found this tray at Kohl's that did light it up a bit.

I moved the picture over by my mirror/jewelry holder
bedroom 2 008
and moved this black stand in front of the window.
bedroom 2 011
I’m certainly not done with this room it needs painted and a dresser that has been in the basement painted and brought upstairs and another one taken out of the room. Things that will get done just not right
away, especially with warmer weather coming, we are hitting 63 today and it is so welcomed!

Peacock Blue Pumpkin

Hello everyone! A little chilly here today so the windows are closed and an extra blanket is on the bed.
I had some Peacock Blue spraypaint left from when I did my desk chair here, and decided to give this lonely old pumpkin a coat of it. It’s now sitting on my mantel along side a very old lantern that I found at auction, it has very sharp prongs on the bottom so a candle can be used inside.
I think the pumpkin turned out cute don’t you? Also wrapped
some twine around the stem.

I brought out my Halloween guy that I had found at GW.

I think he’s a cutie! I like happy Halloween
not scary!

Pumpkins seem to be all over the place here, I never know how many I have until I get them all out.

Mantel Love

Hello there! Hard to believe tomorrow is the first day of October, right?
I’m really liken my mantel this year,
I used four of my crocks that I have had for years, you wouldn’t believe how many I do have down in the basement.
Anyway, I thought I’d use a few this year for a little bit of a rustic look.
Oh, and while I’m thinking about it the owl pillow on my sofa in my last post I bought at TJMaxx or Marshall’s, a few of you asked about it in the comments.
 009
Actually the two on the mantel and one on the left side at the bottom are called salt jars, a primitive mason jar if you will, you can feel the salt on the sides of them. Found these early in the 80’s so only paid a few dollars for them.
I think it all looks so nice against the white brick, one of the best things I ever did was to paint that fireplace, smile!
I’ve had the grapevine wreath and wanted to use it this year so wrapped some faux bittersweet from GW around it and added the blackbird from DT.
005
Believe me that is one budget friendly wreath!
PicMonkey Collage
004
Always use the checked pumpkin from Target…this is the left side of the mantle. The grapevine pumpkin is from JoAnn’s I bought it last year!

006

I wanted another pillow with just a bit of blue in it so found it at Walmart.
002
I think it goes so well with the Peacock blue chair, don’t you?
003
001
I hope you are having a beautiful Fall Monday!
I’ll be joining these parties…I can’t wait to see all the Fall inspiration out there!

Thanks so much for stopping by for a visit!

Loven McCoy/USA Pottery @ Goodwill

Sometimes I go to Goodwill and find so much that I can’t buy it all and then there are those days when I come out of there empty handed. On only a couple days has this happened to me, coming out with something that I was hoping to find, well, this past Wednesday was one of those days where I found exactly what I was looking/hoping to find!!! I’ve always loved McCoy/USA pottery, it always reminds me of my mom and our back patio…
This isn’t a McCoy but the bottom is marked USA 455.

kitchen 2013 and McCoy 001
So I’ve decided to start collecting it, I’m missing those days of the hunt and I’ve decided to get back into it. I’m missing the flea markets and yardsales so I’m really looking forward to some Sundays for the flea markets and the weekends for yardsales! The route 40 two day yardsale will be soon can’t wait for that one too!
My blog will be getting a change here and maybe having a name change in the up coming weeks, I have to figure out some things yet…that’s why I took a blog break so that I could sit back and figure out what I wanted to do with my blog. I have some ideas so hopefully it will all work out and it might not happen until fall because it is finally spring here, yeah! and I so want to enjoy the warmer weather and the upcoming summer. I just wanted to let you know because I love having you come here to visit and read my ramblings.
I’ll keep you posted, pinky promise!
kitchen 2013 and McCoy 003
I haven’t really thought of what I’ll buy as far as shape and color of the pottery because I really do love the different colors of them, I read where one woman only collects the white… making the hunt for them harder to find. I know when I was in North Carolina in the antique shop they weren’t cheap, so I hope in my wanderings I’ll get some good prices on them. This one was $2.99 just sitting on the shelf waiting for me! It’s a pretty raspberry shade, cute and delicate!
I have found two blogs who have a love for McCoy Pottery, Mary @
http://www.athomeonthebay.com/ and Liz @ http://mabelshouse.blogspot.com/ great blogs, I know you will love them too, so check them out! Plus if you know other blogs with this collection please let me know okay? I’d love to stop by!
I’ve missed each and everyone of you during my bloggy break, I never thought of quitting my blog but knew I was unhappy with it sooooo…I’ll be changing some things in the near future or maybe not till the end of summer!

Desk Finished…well almost!

I sure hope your not getting tired of seeing the dumpster desk, it’s taking so long to complete what with being sick and then lack of energy. I do want to thank each one of you who commented for your get well wishes, brought a smile to my face and I think that is so important when you aren’t feeling well. Now I’m feeling better so I did manage to finish (all except for the waxing, which I do not like to do) the desk.
I think she turned out adorable and I can’t wait to start using her.
Dumpster desk 002
I had the two glass knobs and I’m thinking of going with the cup handles for the three drawers like I have on my kitchen drawers.
Dumpster desk 001
Hard to believe it’s the same desk that I dragged out of a college dumpster! There was not a thing wrong with her that a little paint wouldn’t fix!
PicMonkey Collage
I have also been playing around on the bookshelves and referring to my Pinterest board Shelf Styling here if you would like to take a look at my pins. Having these boards have really helped me with trying getting it right.
I moved my GW basket onto the shelves with the green apples that I bought at Walmart for a $1.00 a piece and you also can see Miss Mustard Seeds book “Inspired You” which I love!
Dumpster desk 006
I’m painting the hoosier now, this is just the first coat!

Thanks so much for stopping by, always enjoy your visits and comments. Oh, did you watch Downton Abbey last night? Loved it!
I’ll be joining these great parties, stop by each one and get some inspiration!

How Do You Like it Now

WhooHoo! I’m really sticking to my word, organize, so much so that I’m surprising myself. I sure hope I keep it up, today I took down all the inside Christmas décor and packed it all away in the basement (also taking the time to wrap things with tissue paper). I didn’t put it with the other Christmas things I haven’t used for a few years though, I’m keeping the old out to go thur and throw away or give to GW. I so can’t wait to get this house organized, I didn’t even tell my husband that I was going to do this, I’m just going to do it on my own!
I also did a little sprucing up on my open kitchen shelves after I took everything down to clean. I’m really in love with them now, you can also  tell what time I took these photos the lighting at this time of day isn’t that great but I wanted to join in on some linky party’s, if I don’t I always feel like I’m missing something:)

after Christmas 005
I got tired of the bottles on there so it was time for a change!
christmas 2012 002
after Christmas 006
I found this cloche at GW a while ago and used a large pinecone for the winter months, the cow is also from GW and the breadboards I’ve had for years, love the scorched one in the back! I think I bought that one from Ebay! Do you think it looks like farmhouse style?
after Christmas 003
This silver dish, top and plate and glass dish inside, came from GW too I usually kept in the diningroom hutch, I but decided to shop my home and you know what? It was fun! Love the knob on it!
after Christmas 002
I think the little clock that I found at GW not to long ago looks cute next to the big one!
after Christmas 007
I only worked one day this week and one next week, so I’m going to enjoy organizing and decorating all day long:)
after Christmas 004
Thanks so much for stopping by, I hope you are having as much fun as I am! If you would like to see my Pinterest board “Shelf Styling” you can see it here.

Diningroom Ready for Christmas Day

Hi all! Are you ready to see my diningroom decorated for Christmas? Well, I’m ready to show you…I really like it this year although some things I did the same and some things are newly done! I’m still loven the table legs painted with ASCP!
Christmas 2012 002
This wire basket I had found at GW last year, I’ve used it in the entryway but decided to use it here this year, when I found it I didn’t have to do a thing to it, I always love that part of finding a treasure don’t you? The handles on each side go up and down. I filled it with faux holly in a pot that I found at the flea market years ago, wrapped it in some left over burlap, used my burlap ruffled runner this way on the table and I was done!
I used DT snowflakes on my chandy like I did last year.
Christmas 2012 008
This is something new I did this year too, bought the small wreaths at DT and tied the black polka dot ribbon on, cute huh?
Christmas 2012 009
Next to the hutch, in the corner I added the wreath that I never know what to do with, on the shutter and the green plants from Ikea! I really like this corner this year for Christmas.

Christmas 2012 003
With my collection of old bottles I just added Santa and pinecones plus garland!
Diningroom 2012 005
I used different candleholders this year on the hutch white one from GW and the glass one from DT!
Diningroom 2012 004
On my mom’s piecrust table I made this vignette.
Diningroom 2012 001
Candles on a white ironstone platter!

Candlelight at Dusk

Candlelight, don’t you just love it? That’s one of my favorite things to do in the fall and winter, light candles and tea lights, as you can see it makes for a cozy home!

Picmonkey Photos 004
Owls a plenty on the mantel! Found the green tea lighted owl at GW for .99!
Picmonkey Photos 003
Here’s a little project I did, I framed a faux leaf onto some burlap. I’m also thinking of painting the shutter with AS Paris GreySmile I’ll let you know if I do!
pictures for blog 005
These pumpkins are the real deal, I think they are so pretty, I put them in a nice sized leaf plate that I found at a yardsale this summer for $2.00!
Picmonkey Photos 009
Thought I’d add a picture without the candlelight!
