Making a Warm Cozy Livingroom

Well, the snow came and we survived, we got about 15 inches which was enough...

instead of 2 feet, we did have to dig out the driveway and down the road to connect

with the main street. So it was a crazy few days around here but I kept myself busy

by warming up my livingroom with new pillows and throw.

Pillows from Pottery Barn

In this picture you can see the new, red, plaid throw and red pillow, the

the pillow in the middle is of New York City.

The tray I used for a centerpiece on the diningroom table was a thrift find and I

painted it with homemade chalkpaint.  I think my deer antlers and pinecones with

a prim candle holder and greenery looks wintery, I love putting things together

that I already have! I forgot to move the puzzle box, I always want to put one

together but I seem to get to impatient.

I had some TJMaxx gift cards and loved this lamp, the bottom is a dark red
with a neat shaped burlap shade!

My rag heart that I love, I made it about two years ago and always bring it

out for Valentine's Day!

Thanks so much for stopping by!

I'll be joining these great party's:

Sunshine in the Kitchen

Hi Everyone!
I wanted you to see my kitchen with the sun shining thur the window. Feels so good
to see the sun shining again, anyway I’m in love with my kitchen so much now, I don’t know
whether to decorate it or not because right now I’m just enjoying the clean look of it!
IMG_20150408_084743
I’m liking the top of the cabinets bare, if I do put anything up
there it will only be one or two things. Oh, the towel is from
Target…gold metallic dots!

This is my coffee bar with a brand new coffee maker

Here is my lamp that I got on sale at Target, when the light is off the
design doesn’t show! I still don’t have baskets for my TV stand/dresser, found
two at Marshall’s but they were to tall so I had to return them, I think my best
bet is a trip to Michael’s.

Have a great week ahead and enjoy this spring weather!

Snowy February

Hi everyone! Well, we woke up to more snow and the schools had a two hour delay!
Plus cold temps…someday it will be over and I can look out my window and see green.LOL
In the meantime I’ve been playing around the rooms in my home,  seeing what I like and
don’t like. In the livingroom I didn’t like the burlap and red lampshade that was on the
lamp so I had this lamp in my stash and decided to use it instead, the lamp that was there
originally is now in the guestroom and the snowball wreath is hanging in there, I’ll be so
happy when I put that away! Anyway, I think this lampshade goes with the black and white
I have going on in the room!

I finally decided to paint the bamboo mirror, my hubs spray-painted
it in the garage for me since it was so cold out, I used flat black, do
you think I should have used the enamel one?

Here is my mantel nothing spectacular but you can tell I do love the black
and white.

so sleepy how about you?

Lamp and Boxwood Wreath

Hi everyone, how are you? I’ve been reading how the tree leaves are finally
turning in some of your states, ours trees get more naked everyday what with some
of the windy weather we have had.
I did want to show you what I did after seeing this on 21 Rosemary Lane,
I loved the look of Rosemary’s lamp so I decided
to do the same but then remembered I had one in the basement that wouldn’t need the
spray-paint.

Boxwood wreath 007

Didn’t take me long to wrap and hot glue the twine, I also took the burlap shade
from another lamp and put it on this one. The only thing I’m missing is the cute tassel
Rosemary used on hers.
Boxwood wreath 008
I think it turned out great and such an update on something that I already had and
didn’t cost a penny! Do you like my two little pumpkin spice tins? I’ve had them for
years and always bring them out every fall!

Boxwood wreath 010

Now I want to show you my boxwood wreath that I got with my credits
from Josh and Main,  I’ve always wanted one! I have it hung on my window that
came from an old milk house.
Boxwood wreath 001

I’m trying a little bit of red in my home and remembered it was down
in the basement, at first I thought I had sold it but finally found it,
so relieved!
I love ribbon that is used on some things that you buy, this was
wrapped around throw so I always save them to use.

So hard taking pictures of this wall! I hung on the narrow wall
coming into the livingroom/diningroom

Remember to stop by Rosemary’s blog to see her lamp, much more amazing
then mine I promise!

Thanks for stopping by hope you have a nice evening!

Freshened Up the Hoosier for Spring

Hi everyone, how are you… I hope good and that you are enjoying some spring weather! Right now we are having sunshine, Yay!!!
I repainted the hoosier with Polished Pearl by Behr said to be a match of ASCP old white.
hoosier 1214 012
I had painted it with a shade of gray from Valspar and really didn’t care for it, it had to much blue in it for me.
hoosier 001
An artist I’m not.lol, but it will have to do, I don’t know if you know this but my favorite season is Spring some like Fall more
but not me.

I didn’t change the top to much, just added a trophy that I found at TJMaxx.

I don’t know about the lampshade though, had it and decided to see what it looked liked, I have two gift cards for PB so I
may buy the burlap one, the one on it is from Target. I also need to add one more thing to make it an odd number.
funny what you see after the picture is taken;) Oh, how do you like the crock lamp on the hoosier, found it a good 5 years ago for $5.00.

Church Lamp…Score

Hello everyone, yesterday was gray and chilly but today is sunny and I’ll be heading out for my walk/run,
yes, I said run, soon. At 62 I’m adding it to my exercise routine. This will be my sixth week of doing it, meaning
walking fast and then a burst of running. My stomach has went down and I feel fit and healthy. You see almost 9 months ago
I quit smoking about 2 packs a day, never did I think I could quit but I did using the patch and a generic one at that! So,
I figured if I can quit smoking, (I can do anything!!!) I can lose this 15 lbs. that I’ve gained since quitting, believe me you gain weight whether you want to or not.
Now to the lamp, I’ve had it in the basement for close to two years, I found it at a church sale for $2.00. I
was going to try painting the shade like I’ve seen it done out there in blogland but it was to dirty and looked
terrible.
Here it is :

I have it on the end table in the livingroom, the lamp I had there was to tall, this one looks a lot better and sure saved me money!

The new lampshade is from Walmart.

One other thing I wanted to show you is the new teal pillow that I found on sale at Kohl’s, new
picture above the couch is from TJMaxx.

Desk Finished…well almost!

I sure hope your not getting tired of seeing the dumpster desk, it’s taking so long to complete what with being sick and then lack of energy. I do want to thank each one of you who commented for your get well wishes, brought a smile to my face and I think that is so important when you aren’t feeling well. Now I’m feeling better so I did manage to finish (all except for the waxing, which I do not like to do) the desk.
I think she turned out adorable and I can’t wait to start using her.
Dumpster desk 002
I had the two glass knobs and I’m thinking of going with the cup handles for the three drawers like I have on my kitchen drawers.
Dumpster desk 001
Hard to believe it’s the same desk that I dragged out of a college dumpster! There was not a thing wrong with her that a little paint wouldn’t fix!
PicMonkey Collage
I have also been playing around on the bookshelves and referring to my Pinterest board Shelf Styling here if you would like to take a look at my pins. Having these boards have really helped me with trying getting it right.
I moved my GW basket onto the shelves with the green apples that I bought at Walmart for a $1.00 a piece and you also can see Miss Mustard Seeds book “Inspired You” which I love!
Dumpster desk 006
I’m painting the hoosier now, this is just the first coat!

Thanks so much for stopping by, always enjoy your visits and comments. Oh, did you watch Downton Abbey last night? Loved it!
I’ll be joining these great parties, stop by each one and get some inspiration!

Paris Grey Basket and White Owl Lamp

I found this basket last November at a church sale for $3.00, a nice sized one too!
I’ve always wanted to paint it so today after getting the girls on the bus after a 2 hour delay ( because it was about 8 degrees this morning ) I came home and started on it. I used the rest of the Paris Grey, well maybe I have enough to paint an urn that I found there too!
I think it turned out really nice!
Owl lamp and basket 001

This is what it looked like before, it’s plastic lined so I guess you could put a large plant in it if you wanted to but I kill plants so I won’t be doing that!
007
I’m keeping it in my office, gee, it sounds so good to write that.:) Right now I have my burlap stored in it.
Owl lamp and basket 006
Here is a close up, I just dry brushed it on letting some of the finish show thru  ASCP just went on so smoothly too!
Owl lamp and basket 005
Now here is the sweetest lamp ever that I bought to go on the desk, whenever I get that started, they have a 2 hour delay tomorrow too!
Isn’t he/her the cutest, love his/her face!
Owl lamp and basket 008
The shade is burlap and I found him at Burlington for $25.99, I didn’t think that was a bad price for both the lamp and the shade!
The taller lamp is just to big for the desk, you can see it on the floor back there. Yes, I still have to do the trim in white, maybe once I get the room going I’ll get it done, It’s like #1,000 on my to do list:)
Owl lamp and basket 007
Here’s the desk that I found in a dumpster when the college here was done for the summer, the best thing is that it was free!
The girl that used it and thur it away must have been an art major don’t you think? I have it all sanded and I’m going to prime it because the top is some sort of laminate plus all the magic marker art too. I have a quart of gray paint that I bought a while ago so I’m using what I have. I’d like to find some neat hardware for it also!
Owl lamp and basket 002
Thank you for stopping by and I hope you have a great evening!
