Whisper Wood Cottage Talent Scouting Party ~Autumn Decor

Hi all, hope your weekend was a great one! I just got on here to blog hop when I came across Whisper Wood Cottage, they are having another talent scouting party and if you win you could be featured in Cottage& Bungalow’s magazine, the theme is Autumn Decor, neat huh? So I thought I’d dig up some fall pictures I have and join in on all the fun! The party starts today, July 16th, so here’s a few picks of my fall décor! First is the diningroom:
I love my black pumpkin that started out as an orange styrofoam but then I painted it black and tied a white bow on it!
P9281507
Full view of the room…these pumpkins were the same only I painted them white and used black ribbon on them!
P9281505
Just used some raffia (bought in a package at a yardsale) to set them in!
P9281506
Livingroom: I used candle holders from the Dollar Tree, painted them white and sat some white painted pumpkins on them, the crows are also from DT! It’s hard to see but in the lines of the pumpkin I used a silver glitter, glue pen to define them a little.
P9251501
P9221490
The coffee table got dressed too, I used two, glass pieces from DT and glued them together to put some tiny, little gourds in them, co cute!
P9171442
Kitchen: The top of the frig with faux fall stems collected from the DT too.
P9171450
We have a community yardsale every August and another lady sold next to me she wanted something of mine so we traded, I don’t know what these are but I know I like the color of them so much!
P9211469
On the kitchen counter, I used flowers and leaves and other things taken from arrangements sold at yardsales for $1.00 or $2.00 that I didn’t care for but knew I could use the stems and berries for my own arrangements!
P9221480
Entryway: The wreath is a yardsale find and just filled in the empty spaces with fall picks from DT and JoAnn’s!
P9221488
P9281504
Last, my front porch:
P9131404
Love my black door! The wreath is another yardsale find and just filled it in with some fall picks and a bow that I made!
P9131405
Although a lot of things have changed in my home when these pictures were taken last year, I’ll still use them this year again, everything I used was inexpensively done and that’s what makes it so much fun!

Have a wonderful day!

Found a New Mirror, Now Which Lampshade?

I love mirrors they can be any kind and I love them! As long as they can be painted they are a sure hit! I’ve been looking for one for the entryway and the room off the kitchen, I took both of the ones I had there and had put them on the mantel a couple months ago then when we painted the fireplace I didn’t put them back so they have been moved around…a lot! The other day I went to Marshall’s and found this mirror!
007
I’m sure it’s made of wood and covered with fabric with the French writing on it, I thought it was pretty neat. I’m using two lampshades with this mirror to see which one I like best. Do you ever do that? Amazing how pictures show you what you want to know!
004
Leopard one?
003

005
Or the black? The black shade doesn’t fit on the iron lamp… to wobbly. This is how it looks as I type this. Both lamps were from GW the wooden one I painted!
006
I  also used this idea that I found around blogland to hang the mirror and it works great!
001
Let me know which lampshade you like the best? Okay?
As always thanks for stopping by, leave a comment so I know you have been by♥

Pictures I’ve Taken and Never Posted

Do you ever take pictures and then not post them? I do, so I thought I’d show you some!
This is my livingroom, looks so much better with the fireplace white don’t you think? I want a brown leather couch with nail head trim, I’m so tired of the blue, denim one believe me it will never wear out. I also want a glass top coffee table too! I’ve been haunting Craigslist like crazy!
008
Here is my window boxes, I later added sweet potatoes vine to it.
010
Aren’t they so neat? I didn’t know I could buy them around here, I don’t think I’ve ever saw them until I started blogging.
011
Bought these green chairs at Lowes for around the pool.
006
016
017
Here are my sun faces, as I call them, the one below the shelf I bought in Cabo and the little blue one to the left of it I bought there too!
018
We went to the flea market a couple weeks ago and I got this hanging basket for $5.00!
019
Found the planter for $2.00 at a yardsale, love the dish that is attached underneath it.
012
The Vietnam Wall in Washington D.C. You can see someone tracing a name!
032
The guy in the red shirt kept getting in my way but the man in front of him stood for a while saluting.
034
This is some of the length of it…so sad and so quiet there.
036
This picture shows you the names and how close they all are together and if you look at the picture above it is mind boggling at how many are on there.
035
The Lincoln Memorial
037
I wanted to show Syd the WW II memorial where her great granddad served.
027
He was in the Navy and in the Pacific so I tried to figure out which battle he would have been in. I think it was Midway, I never ever heard him say one word about the war, nothing! The only thing I did find out … he was one of the ones that helped get the dead soldiers out of the water. It just wasn’t talked about in our home, I was the baby of four and young, then a teenager so I didn’t even think about what he may have went thur.
029
025
I’ve been here twice and both times I choke up, I just didn’t know!
028
It’s beautiful there…if you ever can go see it!
I’ll be partying here!

A Really Fast Patriotic Wreath & I Was Featured

I needed a fast patriotic wreath, like now! I stopped in at JoAnn’s to see if they had anything to make one or buy and they had nothing, you won’t believe it but they have autumn wreaths out and autumn everything being put out on the shelves! I’m sorry but let me enjoy summer first, I mean it wasn’t even July 1st yet! I couldn’t even find patriotic ribbon in there! I had been in Hallmark first and had noticed  red ribbon with a white stripe
down the center of it, but with a 40% coupon I figured why not, I was desperate plus it was hot outside and I didn’t want to be running around to different stores, so I bought a roll of it ! Also bought some patriotic garland at DT to use and some polka dotted bows.
Here’s my fast, Patriotic wreath:
001

When I got home I went to the basement and looked thur my stash and found this grapevine wreath with a rusty, star garland wrapped around it from my prim days! So what I did was get out my glitter glue and apply it to the rusty stars, I used red and blue glitter!
024
023
Not the greatest but still good in a hurry!
025
Some flags in the planter!
021

The red geraniums I placed in an old marshmallow tin on the back porch!
020
I still have to paint a few chairs for around this table but it has been so hot everyday, we lost power last Friday at about 8 PM and didn’t it come back on till Saturday at about 11 Am. So Stush made eggs and bacon on the grill plus coffee in an old tin percolator…so good too!
013
I also was so pleased and happy when Natasha from Natasha in Oz featured my Crate and Barrel kitchen rug…thanks Natasha!
004
I hope everyone has a safe and wonderful 4th of July!

A Sisal Vase

I know I don’t craft a lot just seems like I never have the time or when I do I’m just not in the mood or I don’t have enough supplies on hand. I blog hop a lot because I love seeing what everyone is doing like crafting or decorating especially decorating! Sometime last month I stopped by Naptime Decorator Liz had made the cutest vase out of sisal and I thought “I can do that” so I bought the sisal at Lowes and the vase at, where else The Dollar Tree, I already had the glue gun and sticks! Both sat on my kitchen bar till yesterday, I decided to do it because I was sick of looking at the supplies all the time and not feeling productive every time I walked by. You know what though? After I was done I felt terrific, like hey, I made this? Know the feeling?
Here’s mine and it’s so easy to do, the link above takes you right to Liz’s tutorial, btw she has one great blog too, stop by and say hi!
002
I think it looks great with the faux hydrangeas!
001
003
I like to do quick and easy crafts♥
004
Looks very Pottery Barnish too me! I have it right by the kitchen sink, I saw that idea on Pinterest!
