Sunsets!

Hello, everyone! Did you have a wonderful Mother’s Day? I sure did and I’ll show you what the kids got me in another post soon. Today I’m joining Tracy’s Trinkets and Treasures for the Sunrise, Sunset or Sun Flare Photo Party, stop by to see some great photos!!!
I took these two sunsets while on vacation in Jamaica using the sunset setting, for the first time, on this camera of mine. Someday I hope to get another more powerful lenses for it but I’m still learning and before I put more money out I want to learn everything about this one first!

Happy Mother’s Day and My Mom♥

Mom has been gone going on ten years now, can't believe it! In the picture below she is in her 20's.

Good morning blogger friends,
This is a post I did a couple years ago on my old blog and as I reread it I found out I still feel the same way two years later:)

Actually I wanted to blog about my mom...she has been gone for seven years now, there isn't a day that goes by that I don't think of her... we were very close, my best friend, she loved me no matter what and I knew when she passed away I had lost that kind of love. Sydney was born a week before she died...God giveth and takes away but oh, how good He is because He knew that Sydney would help me in my grief :) To this day I still grieve for her in my own silent way, mom was a 50's mom such good memories of her when I was little, I get my decorating skills from her too...I remember she wanted a half wall put up between the livingroom and kitchen (when it wasn't the thing to have like that) and I guess my dad just was taking his good old time about putting one up so she ordered 2x4's and drywall that was delivered and while my dad was at work she built one herself!!! I'm like that too, I like to do it myself if I'm able.lol Mom also sewed my clothes and when I was in Jr. high and high school she would make my A line skirts then buy the sweaters and knee socks and shoes to match...I'd just show her an outfit in Seventeen magazine and I'd have it sometimes by the time I got home from school:)

I'm named after her mother who died suddenly when my mom was 27 about ten years before I was born...from what my mom told me they also had a good relationship and it comforts me to know that mom is now with her, I know my mom is so happy!
Happy Mothers Day to all of you and to you that still have your mom here with you...give her an extra hug and kiss, I always did that and now I can miss her without regret or guilt...Happy Mothers Day mom, you were a great one!
A poem from Google that I found that I posted last year!

You were my mother and my friend,
Which was unusual.
Somehow our characters still blend:
Your wisdom and my will.

I turned, and you were there for me;
I spoke, you understood.
I felt cared for, but also free;
You loved, and I was good.

I'm fortunate that I was born
To someone just like you;
I love you still. Though you are gone,
You live in what I do.

A Little Here and a Little There!

 Can't wait to open this:)

Hello everyone! We had a beautiful day here today 63 and sunny, it felt so good to have the sun out all day long. So today we cleaned the back patio, power washed the outside walls and floor and put down my outside rug that I found at Lowes for $40.00 this past February:) I’ll show pictures when we are done with it.
Yesterday though I took everything off my shelves and mantel plus coffeetable , I had read The Nesters one post, it’s here if you would like to read it, so I thought I’d give it a try…here it is, everything on the couch and diningroom table, I didn’t show that because I didn’t want to scare any of you just think piled with stuff plus laptop and camera plus pictures all over it that I had printed out:0

The fireplace, the sorriest thing in my livingroom, I got the go ahead to paint the brick but now I’m afraid to even try, you see we are having a wedding/picnic on July 9th for my stepdaughter Jennifer and alot of people will be here! I just don’t want to ruin it and there’s that wood burner that I have a love/hate relationship with 1. It cuts the heating bill in half 2. It’s just plain ugly!!!
P5040716
This is what I put back on it, I don’t like the mirror from Target but I have nothing else to put there that looks good, I’m on the look out for something, I think though if the brick were painted white it would look alot better.
P5050730
I put my coffee wreath back because I like it there the best.
P5050734
Changed the end table a bit, see the turtle?
P5040725
I bought him in Jamaica, he was $40.00 but I got him for $15.00. I found two other ones that were handmade and I’ll have to take pictures of them to show you!
P5040726
I put the same things back on my coffeetable, like it, see the leopard, tile coaster? Dollar Tree has them and I bought two one for here and for the other end table, oh, and they have rooster ones too if you want to take a look!
P5040728
My desk I kept the same too.
P5040729
I changed my blue cupboard though and added some glass, looking at it in real life I like it, in this picture I don’t LOL I do need to add something on the 2nd shelf there I see I only have 4 items so I have to make it an odd number right?
P5050731

P5050732
The suitcase I found at the flea market for $5.00 and the planter GW…the bottle is from PB!
P5050733
Remember this wall in the hall I talked about in a recent post? Well, I figured I’d put something there until I find the thing that I really love, I put pictures of us on our different vacations New York City, Jamaica ,Riviera Mia Mexico plus the K from PB. I like it and it does give some interest to the wall instead of it being blank and undone looking.
P5040723

P5040724
Did you see the little picture there in the first picture of the hallway? I found it at GW for .99 fits this little space so well! Love robins, they are the first sign of spring around here.
P5040727
I don’t know if I’ll leave it this way, some I like and some I don’t but it sure was fun trying:)

Debbie Do’s Pet Party!!!

He’s one of the most important part of our lives, and this week is his 4th birthday, Happy Birthday Buster! You have so filled that empty nest syndrome so well!
We got him for free from a local farm, the farmer said he had just to many and at four months he was letting them go. Buster fit into our lives right from the start, didn’t even have to train him, he knew to go outside probably from being kept outside right from the start. He loves water but not a bath or a garden hose…go figure:)
This is his favorite place to sleep when we are watching TV, right on my shad carpet:)
100_3608
Here he is this morning, drooling on my pj’s waiting to be fed, he has a pink nose and green eyes, I don’t know what type of Lab he is and doesn’t really matter, he has my heart♥
P5040708
This morning waiting for Mr.K to throw the ball!
P5040709
He loves to play ball!
P5040711
His favorite pose!
P1230146
Such a good dog and great companion.
P1210123
This is where you can find him at times, waiting patiently for Mr.K to take him for a ride he doesn’t care where either! What cracks me up is that he always waits in the drivers seat!

I hope you enjoyed seeing Buster, he isn’t camera friendly so it’s sometimes hard to get good pictures of him. Thanks Buster for filling our hearts with love!
I’m joining Deb’s Pet Party today! Thanks Deb!

A Princess Tea Party and a Matthew Mead Giveaway!

Oh, to be a little girl again…my youngest granddaughter Samantha had her birthday at the Serendipity Tea Room yesterday and it was just so pretty and nice…here’s the cake that they prepared for the party. Each little girl got to pull a ribbon out of the cake and on the end of the ribbon was a charm for the girls to tie around their neck♥
P4300652
The birthday princess, each little girl wore a princess outfit or a dressy dress to the party. Samantha enjoyed every detail of the party…she turned six♥
 P4300655
There were four tables for the girls and yes, that’s Cinderella came to visit, she sat by Samantha the whole time and helped her open her gifts♥
P4300664
Each table had a different teapot and the lady showed them how to drink their tea and also read them a story.
P4300694
Another table setting, look at the little teacup with the candle, they weren’t lit so I guess the lady thought they were to little♥
P4300660
They also made magic wands♥
P4300691
Now to show you how the tea room was decorated, I couldn’t resist taking some pics of somethings♥ This is the door just love it, I could also see it done in lace♥
P4300695
This was on the other door♥
P4300689
Hats on a coat rack♥
P4300653
Look at these cloches, there were three of them, I wanted to take one home with me.
P4300705
She had these signs in each window, I’m pretty sure the other one said Love♥ In fact I think I’ll use this picture for my header, love the pink geraniums♥
P4300690
A neat tea towel, love what it says♥
P4300692
Sweet pillow♥
P4300693
Love this skirt don’t you?
P4300696
Look how organized this owner must be, I snuck a pic of her back room:) See the labeled containers?
P4300697
Did it cost money? Yes, it did but my daughter said it was so worth it and it was to see that smile on her face♥ She cracks me up with those earrings on, she kept them on the whole time too♥ This is when they sang Happy Birthday to her… and they lived happily ever after♥
P4300699
Now on to a neat giveaway from Matthew Meads blog, he’s giving away a $75.00 gift card to Anthropologie!!! I’d so love to win this, keeping my fingers and toes crossed! If you want to join in on this fantastic giveaway just click on the same picture below on the right side of my blog at the top and it will take you there♥
Have a great evening where ever you are!

Thanks Kim♥

Finally Painted My Hoosier!

Going from one style to another is FUN and HARD work let me tell you! Picking the right paint colors to me is stressful to say the least! I wanted to paint my Hoosier cupboard a neat color but just didn’t know what shade it would be until I saw my free sample from Valspar's Jade Bath. So I tried it out on a cutery carrier I had had for a while and really liked the color.
Here is my Hoosier  when I was prim…yes I made that sampler you see there and I mounted on a bread board.
100_2327
I still have all my crocks and salt glazed jars which I found back in the 80’s for $3.00 each.
100_2334
Here it is now, my husband said it looks white to him but it’s not as you can tell by the runner on the table and the white single drawer shelf there to the left on the wall!
P4300638
I used a soft setting on some pictures, this is looking in from the kitchen, I’m thinking of taking the ceiling fan down and adding a new ceiling light…that would be another decision to make:)
P4300650
I like what I have here, the scale I found for $5.00 at a community yardsale last year, the bowl is from GW and the letter holder is from TJMaxx or Marshall’s.
 P4300619
We were at Pat Catan’s yesterday, my daughter had to get tea cups for Samantha’s birthday tea party today, I found these all white sea shells and three starfish(I bought all they had left) the tea light on the scale is shaped like a seashell and I found that at GW and also the S&P’s.
P4300646
Not to happy with what I have on top the two glass holders are made from Dollar Tree glassware and the rusty birdcage is from Marshall’s. Don’t you just love cool return register’s? I’m thinking a neat basket up there to hide it would be better!
P4300626
Of course I kept the original hardware which is at least 100 years old, I bought this hoosier for $100.00 back in the early 80’s from a 100 year old man’s estate it was white with black and red decals on the center of each door, I think now it is the prettiest it’s ever been.
P4300631
Here is a peek of my livingroom with the soft setting, the only slipcover I can find on the net is PB and that is about 149.00 for it! See the hall wall right between the picture of Syd and the cupboard with all my milkglass? I’m looking for a picture to go there so far no luck!
P4300651
I’m liking what I’ve done so far, seeing it on pictures gives some satisfaction, are there other areas that I haven’t done yet sure is but I’ll keep you posted on them, after all I have all the rest of spring and summer to do them! Have a wonderful day!
I’ll be at these parties!
