On Top the Old Hoosier

I’m playing around with PicMonkey this morning so please excuse the pictures as I learn how to do everything they provide, also excuse the ball jars on the floor to the left. I hate to take them down to the basement in case I would want to use them again since I’ve been playing around the rooms of my home.
hoosier 001
I like this arrangement better on top but still disliking the heat return vent, I think it’s the problem I have when I go to decorate it.
hoosier 003
I’ve been shopping my home and put a wire basket that I had under my end table on top with some books in it. Also the plant holder that I found at the church sale for .10!
hoosier 002
Two demi johns that I found at Goodwill and wicker candle/bottle holder on the left side.
hoosier 005
I added the black and white tea towel on the side but would like to get a grainsack one with a black stripe.
hoosier 006
The basket I found for pennies and for those that are new to my blog the chair I found at the side of the road years ago. Love when that happens but are few and far between for me!

Thank you to all my new followers, always appreciate you stopping by!

I love that Hoosier cabinet! I think you did a great job styling the top of it. I love the mix of the wire with the wicker bottles. I also love the chair with the basket of baby's breath in it. So farmhousey! I have the same problem sometimes with thermostats and vents that get in the way. As if we REALLY need those things! LOL!

Rondell- What a great old Hooiser cabinet. I always wanted one but will settle for looking at my sister-in-laws that came from her childhood farmhouse home- xo Diana

Great job styling the top! I have an idea....keep your eyes out for an old screen with a wood frame ( or make one) and stand or hang it in front of the vent....air can still pass but the vent is covered!

I love your Hoosier cabinet!! Love that basket on your pretty white chair too!! We have a thermostat in our dining room that drives me crazy...it is right under where my white rolling pin shelf is and I can't figure out how to hide it. Would love to have a wood cover over it, but our furnance guys said it was a no-no and that it wouldn't let the furnance run correctly. Bummer...
Hope you are having a great weekend.
hugs,
Cindy

Your cabinet set up is great! Have you thought of screwing a vintage, cast iron grate on right over the heat return vent? The air would move through it fine and it would make a neat art piece.

Pretty vignette! I really love the chalkboard paint on your hoosier. My eye keeps going right to that piece over and over. That was such a cute idea for that piece of furniture. Everything is looking so good at your home!

I think your cabinet looks wonderful and the blue jars on the floor add to the charm, I would leave them there:) I think Maureen has a great idea to buy a large iron architectural piece and place it right over the heater vent. You could still get heat but it would make it look like the piece was supposed to be there.

I had to google demi john. I learned something new from you Rondell. I love changing things around too. Your Hoosier cabinet is just grand with all the pretty things you have adorning it. Did you paint the chair? I want to learn how to paint furniture because I am getting a new craft room and have alot of pieces in the basement storage to paint to hold supplies. Thanks for visiting me!

If only I could find a place to put a hoosier cabinet. I love the way you have yours with the chalk boards. Very pretty!

The hoosier is so pretty, Rondell. Love the chalkboards. I really like the idea of adding the architectural piece in front of your heat vent. Also wondered if you could switch the demi-johns with the basket since they are taller and would hide more of the vent? Just a thought!

I love your hoosier! I love the chalkboard parts on it.
I have the top of our hoosier in the shed it needs a lot of work but we lost the bottom of it in a house fire. I'm still looking for a bottom.
