Prettying Up the PB Coffee Table

Today I thought I’d give my coffee table a new look, spring is next month, although looking out the window you would never know it, just to much snow. I’ll be glad when it does go away, Monday night, coming home from work the roads were so bad, so I want it all to just go away!

I like using my basket tray, with everything grouped together, the ceramic popcorn holder crock came up from the basement to hold these green Hydrangeas yes, they are faux and I love them, to me they look so real and the green color is so welcoming. You can also see the fabric hearts in the middle there, I only have a few of them left from my prim decorating days.

Also in the upper right hand corner you can see my new pillow I got on clearance at TJMaxx for $10.00. The candleholder is from the Dollar Tree which I spray painted white a while ago.

When I was at Michael’s I bought some burlap ribbon, you don’t get a lot for $2.99 I found out so I decided to tie some around some books that I keep on the lower shelf.

Doesn’t it look like a first grader wrote the word “books” with the chalk? I’m just not good at writing with chalk. I see other’s do it and I’m amazed at how nice and pretty it looks.

On the other side of the wire basket I have my two wooden bowls and I think I need more, I should have more some where around here:)

This is as far as I got on it, had to leave for the good old mamo and GYN appt.:) Yes, I shaved my legs but forgot to paint my toenails, I’m sure he didn’t notice.lol

Review of 2012

Hi friends! From visiting all your blogs I see you all had a wonderful Christmas, so glad, ours was great too and yesterday we had another one because Michael and Corrie came home from Annapolis. Needless to say I’m all Christmased out. The decorations are all still up and will be until after the New Year.
I just wanted you to know that I haven’t been on here to post because my hubby bought me a new lap top for Christmas, it’s Window’s 8 and I’m totally lost with it. I love the speed of it which is wonderful but learning the different ways to do things is daunting to a woman of my age. So I don’t know if I’ll keep it or not, I like to use Live Writer to post to my blog but putting it on the new lap top they want my password and ID that I just can’t remember…I know… stupid not write it down :) Does anyone have windows 8? Any tips or suggestions? I’m using my older one for now!

Debbiedoo’s Copy Cat!

Well, you know me, when I do a copy cat it’s always Pottery Barn, just can’t get enough of their catalogs, but their prices are just to high for me! Just watch out if I ever hit the Power Ball though (which I don’t play but hubby does ) lol. Anyway, here is the page I copied.

This is as close as I got it! I got the brainy idea to buy a dropcloth at Lowe’s for $21.00 instead of PB’s $99.00 one! Brought it home and washed it and it did make the dropcloth really soft. I may bleach it next time it goes in the wash.

I’m a little disappointed in it but it sure isn’t blue anymore and does brighten up the room. Now for a new rug:) My husband doesn’t want to hear about that. Ha!

Remember When I Wished For?

Well, the wish came true, took me a while but I did it! This is a picture of when I did a copycat for one of Debbiedoo’s copycat party’s, it’s from a picture in a Pottery Barn catalog, and in my post I said how I wished I had the glass coffee table that was shown in the picture, well thank goodness for Craiglist!


Here it is in all it’s glass glory! Love!!!

I just stood and stared, I couldn’t believe it was in my own livingroom!

We have company from N.C. so I didn’t have the time or freedom to play around with it, see the paisley pillow cover? I ordered that from Pottery Barn a month or so ago and got it on sale for $14.99!

How much did I pay? Remember it sells for $399.00 in the catalog!

The lady wanted $200.00 but I asked if she would take $180.00 and she did!

Some changes going on so stay tuned oh, there is another copy cat party scheduled at Debbiedoo’s… it’s Wednesday, August 1st be there or be square, remember that phrase? Believe it or not it was before my time too. lol…

Top Projects of 2011

Hi Blog Buds! Did you have a wonderful Christmas? We sure did here, came so fast this year and it was such a whirlwind wasn’t it? I received everything I wanted and more, hope it was the same for you! Having everyone together was just wonderful and we also celebrated Nicholas’s first Christmas, how blessed we were!
I thought I’d list some of my favorite projects from this past year, changing from one style to another was hard work but fun, I have never painted so much as I have this year but so worth the time and trouble it took to achieve the look I’m going for. I’m not done at all but will I ever be? I doubt it. LOL
So here they are in no particular order :
This was a quick transformation but I think it turned out just lovely! Amazing what a coat of paint and embellishment can do! This is in the guest room! Read about it here!

Found this on Craigslist, Stush bought it for me for our 5th anniversary! Read about it here!

Thinking on moving this table into my diningroom, I’ll have to see what the man says about it! Read about it here!

Craigslist Desk!

Hello everyone! Saturday was fabulous, everything went so well and all the work around here was well worth it, I have a few, not alot, of pictures that I’ll show in another post, I was just to busy with things to take alot of them.
This is one thing I did complete before the wedding/picnic…my desk that Mr.K bought me for our 5th anniversary off of CL! I used the paint that I already had on hand Cottage White and Jade Bath.

Here is the Before

It’s the first time I’ve ever tried doing drawers a different paint color then the rest of something so I thought I’d give it a try and if I didn’t like it I could always paint it the Cottage White like I was going to in the first place…so here it is! I think it turned out so nice and pretty, after I painted it I used my detailed sander and then did a thin coat of mocha glaze, after that I used a clear wax on it. I hesitated painting the hardware on it but to me they were outdated and thought they could use some prettying up! I love how they turned out!

I love it!

I still need to find the right chair for it, there is one in the basement that is a desk chair that was Mr.K’s mother’s and it has a spindle back on it and a seat that would need covered so I may do that one.

When I first showed this desk in a post on here, someone said that it was a vanity not a desk so I looked on the back to see if there were holes for a mirror and they were right it is a vanity! The guy on CL said it was a desk so that’s okay, it’s working for me and now my diningroom table is cleared off and not cluttered anymore so it’s worked out great! The bedroom is still a work in progress I’ve had my shabby chic curtains for months but just got around to buying the curtain rods this past week but I think Mr.K needs a rest before I ask him to put up curtain rods! What do you think should I let him rest at least a week or what? LOL

Summer Mantel and CL Find!

Here is a sneak peek of my little flower garden by the pool house, I know my mother would be so proud of me and my Climitis.

Hi everyone! I’m back today to show you my summer decorated mantel, I think this is the best yet but yet again I always think that:)  I went with a white and green theme, even bought me some real ivy from Lowes, they say it’s hard to kill so that kind of plant is so right for me! I think it looks great in the bird planter. I don't know if I should add more or not so for right now I'm leaving it this way, for one thing it's not cluttered looking and that's a good thing!
I painted this mirror I posted about that I found at GW for $3.99, I painted it Cottage White, because I still have some left!
 
I added some glaze to it to give it a little tone down.

Here is the ivy, I like it because you have to wait until the soil is dry before watering, yeah!
 
I put some moss balls from the Dollar Tree in this GW vase/glass urn.


Two starfish from Pat Caftan's really finishes it off I think. I looked for white starfish in Jamaica but do you know I couldn’t find even one!

Mr. K asked what I wanted for our anniversary and I told him a desk from Craigslist, nothing expensive because I wanted to paint and distress it. We found this one for $40.00 already stripped and ready to be painted:) I don’t know what color paint I’ll use on it, I just have to keep looking at her and decide! For now she’s in the garage.

She also has her original hardware on her and is in great shape! Here’s a pic of her hardware I don’t know if I’ll keep them or not. I think they would look good painted or maybe those glass handles that are out there, I think Target sells them. What do you think?
