Happy Tweaking Monday♥

I had some fun tweaking my newly painted coffee table, I’m loving the neutral look of it! I just want all of you to know that I’m having so much fun redecorating in this style…I walk into my livingroom and it’s so light and airy and surely puts a smile on my face.
I wish I could make the pictures bigger but since changing to the newer templates nothing has gone right for me in that area, I did switch back to the old templates thinking that it would help shrink the picture in my header but as you can see it didn’t. I went to blogger HELP and they said I had to change it in HTML…fine, but I never did find the >imag  that they said you had to find…of course it was midnight when I was trying to find it!!! Oh well, maybe someday blogger will remember to explain things in laymen terms for all of us that aren’t computer geeks!

100_2930
I found this small wooden tray at GW a while ago for .99 and put it away because I didn’t know what I was going to do with it, as I was shopping around my house I found it and thought of shells and candles! I may paint it white but for now it’s okay with me!

100_2921
I added the tea light in a pretty glass holder, doesn’t it look so calming!
100_2924
Then I remembered the star fish my friend had given me so I included them, I think they added just the right touch!
100_2927
Here is another view…I’m loving my new carpet too!
100_2926
The top of my frig needed some attention so I added a basket I got at a community yard sale a few weeks ago, the jar full of wine corks from Walmart and in the other jar some really nice faux herbs that I got on a road trip to Deep Creek Maryland!
100_2928
My kitchen cabinets will hopefully be painted a creamy white by next spring:)

I’m using live writer today, loading photos is much better than blogger!
I hope you leave a comment, it make me smile♥

Getting To Know You!

I've been blog hopping this Sunday morning and found a neat blog MannLands go here to check it out!!!
Every Sunday they host Getting to know you and I thought I'd join in on the fun and let you know a little about me since I'm new to this side of the blog world!

1.If you had 5000.00 to spend on plastic surgery what would you have done?

Oh my, I guess it would be my stomach...after having four kids no amount of ab work will get rid of it!

2. Do you watch Soap operas and if so what is your favorite and why?
I used to watch them in the 70's and 80's faithfully, I grew up with Susan Lucci...then realized I was getting depressed from watching other people's troubles... when I had enough of my own, so I don't watch them anymore!

3. Favorite clothing brand?
Vera Wang...sold at Koel's. I don't have enough of it but what I do have I love, also some Calvin Klein. All bought at discount of course!

4. An afternoon shopping spree at your favorite store or maid service for a year?

Shopping spree of course...I don't mind cleaning.

5. would you ever vajazzle?
I'm sure I'm to old for this one so I'll say no and google it later!

6. Favorite Disney Princess?
Cinderalla, she is still my favorite after all these years!

7. Last movie that made you bawl your eyes out?
Marley and Me, although I hear Toy Story 3 is a real tear jerker! So I know I'll cry at that one too!

8. Have you ever broken any bones and if so what?
I was 29 when I had my first broken bone, my little finger on my left hand. This happened a month after having a 10lb baby boy, he used to kick it when I changed his diaper and oh the hurt!

Well, there you have it, I hope you enjoyed finding out a little about me as much as I enjoyed posting it!

Thanks Keely...and I'm now a follower!

I Finished It and Some Questions!!!

Hello everyone, I hope you are all having a wonderful summer day, it's hot and sunny here but sometimes the clouds cover the sun and it looks like it's going to storm but it doesn't. I'm glad because I've been spray painting again! Seems like I always have a can of spray paint in my hand whenever I'm able to...I have to though because I'm going to try to get everything done before fall arrives. In my last post I mentioned that I was going to paint my coffee table and hide the cut out sides that Mr. K made me, well I finished it today! It went from this to...

To this...I'm enjoying the way it is making everything so much lighter looking

I bought two of these at Lowes and had Mr. K put them on for me, for the first time I think it turned out pretty good.lol I used Krylon ivory at first and didn't care for it at all so I use the Krylon Pebble then took some sandpaper to it and showed some of the black that was underneath. As you can see I also bought a new rug, I can't believe how both the rug and painted table lightened up the whole room. Which I'm trying to go for since we live in a wooded area and are surrounded by trees so at times it can be dark in here!

Here is another look, guess I should have turned the TV off, please excuse the room it's a mess! My next painting project will be the desk in the background there on the right, I don't know what color to paint it, right now it's a dark red.

I

I found this crocheted thread and part of maybe a throw or bedspread at Goodwill a couple weeks ago for $2.00, I didn't know what I was going to do with it but I'm glad I did, reminds me of my mom.

This is what the squares look like...so pretty and just a shame that whoever was making it didn't have a chance to finish it! Alot of work went into it!
This is what I put in a large wooden trencher that I have, it's on the lower shelf of the coffee table.

Now for the questions:) I usually use Live Writer, which I really like, but I can't enlarge the pictures more because it goes into my sidebar, this also happens with blogger, what template do some of you use that you can have your picture so large?
I love to change the picture in my header but when I do it's huge and looks terrible, how do I change the pixels?
Do I have to keep this template forever? I wish blogger would have just let things alone.LOL

Have a great evening!

My First Win Since Redecorating!

I’m so thrilled to have won these beautiful, depression lamps from Gina at Three Ring Cottage, it was her very first giveaway and I’m so honored to have won, stop over and say hi to such a nice lady…I just love them and know they will just add the right touch to my home with all the decorating I’m doing plus looking for just the right lampshades will be fun! Any suggestions as to what lampshades I should look for?
1'
In my last post I mentioned that I’d show the other finds that I found at Goodwill here they are…I found this ceramic  popcorn container and was really happy to find it because the day before I had saw someone using one on their coffee table on a blog and darn it I can’t remember whose it was…I’m going to have to start writing these things down from now on!!!
100_2907
Neat huh?
100_2906
I think I’ll be using it on this AFTER I redo it, right now it’s out in the garage waiting on me to paint it, Mr.  K made this for me a couple years ago and I’ve always loved it but it’s time for a change and I’ll be sure to show you when I’m done with it!
100_2903
Isn’t this pretty? It’s not a white, white like the picture is showing more a light ivory and marked Made in Japan on the bottom, you don’t see that to much anymore it’s always more like Made in China, what I have in it are paper roses made out of coffee filters, yes that’s right coffee filters! I saw it on someone’s blog and thought it would be easy to do and it was. If anyone knows whose blog it was please let me know so I can give them credit!
100_2910
Love it with my soup tureen.
100_2911
I also filled a little glass container with white and ivory, old buttons and yes, there is a turquoise one in there!
100_2908

100_2909
Well, it’s time for bed…finally… worked tonight again, I hope you all had a wonderful first day of summer…on the way home from work at 9pm I noticed how pretty the sky was, all pink and blue…just beautiful!

Finding Nice and Pretty Things

Yesterday I made it to Goodwill, I could go there everyday.LOL I tried today but it just didn’t happen!
Since I’ve been changing my style of decorating a whole  new world has opened up for me…I’m seeing things that I would have normally passed right on by. I did see this pillow…it’s a ivory damask??? well at least I’ll call it that. I love the fringe on the each side so sweet, I just love it and the price was $4.99 I’m sure it was alot more at one time.
100_2879
I always walk back to the frames and pictures, sometimes I find something and alot of times I don’t but it was my lucky day. I pulled this out from behind alot of framed pictures, I think the peek of the black frame caught my eye. It’s in black and white with white matting. I tried not to get a glare when I took the picture even closed the blinds but it didn’t work to well.

100_2882
Here is a closer look.
100_2881
Turned it over and this was on the back of it of course I didn’t pay $90.00 for it just $4.99!!!
100_2883
I scored with both of these… the tarnished silver platter was just $2.99 and the flowers arrangement(including the glass bowl) was $1.99, the table runner is from Target!

100_2889
I also found these sweet light pink bowls for .25 a piece so delicate looking…I just had to get them!
100_2899
I found more but I’ll  save them for another post…I worked today and got home at 9 PM and now it’s almost midnight, takes a while to unwind, now it’s time for bed.
I hope all of you have a great day tomorrow with hubby, dad or son♥

It Will Be Fantastic…I Keep Telling Myself That

I bought this wood chair at the community yard sales that I went to for $2.00…score! Didn’t know what to do with it but I had bought Mediterranean blue spray paint by Valspar last week so decided to use that just to see what the paint color looked like. Now, can turquoise and Mediterranean blue be used in the same room?
100_2872
Here’s a closer look…right now my home is a total wreck and I’ll admit I’m soooo overwhelmed but I keep telling myself that the outcome will be fantastic…I keep telling myself that over and over.lol
100_2875
I found this coffee pot/teapot at Goodwill for $3.99, it was there one week and the next week it was still there so I bought it…it was sort of calling me to take it home! It does have engraving around the top of the pot, sort of like a frieze design? It’s very pretty!
100_2873
This morning while I was blog hopping I read a post about their having a bird nest in their stainless, steel BBQ( sorry, can’t remember whose blog it was) and couldn’t use it which   reminded me of when, about 8 years ago, my youngest son and I lived together…
100_2876
which the wreath looked like this at the time, the nest was snuggled right in the center of all the ivy you see there, trouble was I had it on the front door. We both worked  retail so would sometimes come home after dark and every time my son would come home mama Robin would fly out and scare him half to death, lol. Not me though, maybe she knew I was a mother too and that I wouldn’t hurt her babies.
100_2850
Well, I still have that same wreath and the nest is still in there but today I decided it needed a facelift! I spent $2.00 at the Dollar Tree for the flowers and I love it! It hangs above my potting bench on an old, chippy window that I picked up at someone’s curb garbage a few years ago!
100_2877
I better get my house at least vacuumed…tonight I’m going to see Sex and the City 2 with a couple of girlfriends.
Just thought I’d show that I haven’t caved in with this massive(to me) redecorating.LOL

Monday Morning

Good morning, well it’s also close to noon but still morning!
Did everyone have a wonderful weekend? Ours was busy as usual  swam at my daughter’s and cooked on the deck yesterday. Friday we went to dinner with our friends at a river side resturant the weather was perfect for eating out on their deck and good food too.
I thought today I would show you some things I have found at stores or at a great community yard sale that I went to with a friend about two weeks ago, had a great time and so many people sold which makes it even better!
This is what I think started my love of changing my decorating style, I found this at Target and just fell in love with the blue/green glass, it is so pretty… in my bathroom of course. The paint is called Golden Sand  Valspar  we just painted last year so I’m hoping to get to paint the kitchen and master bedroom next year, we will see, I can’t paint worth a darn so Mr..K has to do it all.LOL
100_2862
I found the lemons at Walmart and made the cake plate a couple years ago, instead of a glass candlestick I used a teacup so I dug that out of the closet and put it on my kitchen counter/bar. The lamp, with shells was my husband’s mothers and I always loved it and now I finally get to use it, he said she used to take trips to Cape May NJ and bought it there…the shade I bought at Target!
The little glass candle holder with wire handle, my middle son bought  me for Mother’s Day, at the Yankee Candle Store in Annapolis MD where he lives and the candle is Sand & Sea or Sand & Beach can’t remember which but it does smell just like you are at the beach!!! Oh, and the glass cheese dome, plate and teacup are from Goodwill!
100_2856
The soup tureen was a score at the yard sale!!! All four pieces for $5.00, I was thrilled, the silver container with the pink shabby roses was $1.99 at Goodwill…the white pitchers I already had!
100_2852
The white scale, which I have wanted for forever was just $5.00, couldn’t believe it! The vinegar & oil containers are from the Dollar Tree, ceramic plate they are sitting on was .99 at Goodwill… little faux plant on top of the scale from Dollar Tree. I just fell in love with the purple pansy arrangement from Goodwill for a $1.99!!! This is sitting in the very corner of my kitchen counter!
100_2858
I really don’t know about this find but I couldn’t leave it at the yard sale…it’s the mirrored candle holder, sorry not a good picture of it, it’s shabby looking so for $3.00 I figured if I didn’t use it I could always resale it at our annual yard sale in August. The picture hanging next to it I found at a yard sale about three years ago for a $1.00 I painted the frame black, I’ve always thought it was one of my best finds!
100_2868
I also scored on this lamp for $2.00 it’s very heavy and so neat on my desk…I have to paint the desk but can’t decide what color to do it in.

100_2869
Here is my last photo, I promise… the pillow is a Goodwill find for $1.50…love it! It is made out of a sweater material and is a ivory color.
Now here has always been my problem, my denim sofa, I must say it is very comfortable and wasn’t cheap and also you can take the cushion covers, back and seats, and throw them in the washer… so I’ll be having this sofa for a long time.LOL I do like it but just don’t know what style it fits in with. Any suggestions?  I’d love to hear what you think or how you see it in a decorating style another pair of eyes are always better don’t you think?
100_2870
I didn’t think this would be a long post but I love to talk about decorating!
Have a wonderful Monday!

A New Adventure for Me

 Hello everyone,
What fun this is…this wicker set was given to us and it was white, should have taken a before picture but I’m sure you have seen white wicker before. It took about 8 cans of black, satin Valspar spray paint to do the 3 pieces…and I love it! I’ve also fallen in love with the color aqua and I’ve been spray painting everything that isn’t nailed down aqua…not really but it seems like it!  We are really behind in getting our back of the house ready for summer and of course I’ve been trying to decorate on a shoestring budget…it so much fun to do it that way. I did discover Target and Walmart as far as decorating goes…the two pillow covers I bought at Target on clearance for $2.49 each and the votive too but forget what I paid for it, I think it’s supposed to look like mercury glass? I’ve been reading about it on some of your blogs, Yes, I’ve been lurking reading so very many wonderful blogs out there with such talent and beautiful, gorgeous homes but I didn’t want to leave a comment until I started this blog, so I’ll be commenting on them soon!
100_2845
The rocking chair was my grandmother’s and has been painted by me at least 5 times…now it is aqua, doesn’t it look pretty?
100_2843

This watering can I found at Goodwill for a dollar and it had birdhouses on it but the aqua paint took care of that! Now I enjoy watering my flowers more.100_2851
Yes, I even did a basket…one of the first things I did with the Aqua paint!
100_2855

This is also the first year I have ever used the coconut wire baskets, can you tell I love the color purple in flowers this year? BTW this is hanging on my front porch.

100_2853
Well, I sure hope you enjoyed your visit here…I know I did, it’s a teensy bit scarey doing another blog especially about a new style of decorating but I think it will be fun. I know that at this time in my life I’m ready for something nice and pretty!
Have a wonderful summer filled weekend!
