Ikea Bagel Rail on My Kitchen Wall

I think this is one of the cheapest wall décor I’ve ever bought and I love it.
This side of the kitchen needed something but couldn’t think of anything until
I was at Ikea and had it all in my hands but put it back. Boy, was I sorry when
I got home and realized it would have looked great. Have you ever done that?

This is the side I’m talking about the one right next to the fridge,
we only do coffee here but on holidays we use this side for food,
plates, silverware and napkins.

I brought out my cookie cutters, some are very old since I started to collect
them in 1983.

Anyway I went online and ordered what I wanted knowing it would look good
since I could visualize what it would look like by standing there.

I decided to use the hanging bucket as a napkin holder for now, works great.

The towel is from TJMaxx

I hope you had a wonderful day, a little warmer today but cloudy… that’s ok,
I’ll take it!

Delicious Pot Pie & Bedroom Peeks

Hello friends, boy, was it cold today, I had to be at my daughter’s early this morning so I
got the girls on the bus and came home to a nice cup of hot coffee and to visit my blog friends.
I clicked on Kelly’s blog, The Essence of Home she had a wonderful recipe for chicken
pot pie calling it “comfort food” and boy, did I need it. I knew my husband would love it
so went to the store to get the ingredients. That’s mine below less than half is left, that’s how
good it was on a cold evening. Plus we had a salad but skipped the cake.
Don’t forget to stop by
Kelly’s for the recipe, my husband loved it!

Adding and taking away is what I’ve been doing in the bedroom, for a while I just lost interest in it but bought the
quilt and shams and that sparked my interest again.
Here’s a few pictures of the way it used to be.

I’ve been having trouble with Live Writer lately, I choose the font size but after I publish it goes to
a smaller size font. I also can’t get back into my published posts on there to correct it, I’ve never had any
problems in all the time I’ve been using it, hope whoever knows about it and will fix it soon.

Chalkboard Backsplash on the Other Side

Hello! I hope you are having a good day!
I wanted to show you the other side of my kitchen, this is on the side where the fridge is plus where it says “eat” that’s where the door is going out to the garage from the kitchen a door that we use often. I finally finished this side with chalkboard paint, I love it and the kids get a kick out of writing on it too. Oh, the breadboard I have had for years, found it at a fleamarket and the milk glass cake plate I found at Goodwill for about $2 something.

I think we need to get some cookies in the first jar they don’t last long around here with my husband.
chalkboard backsplash 004
I know some people aren’t a fan of it but ever since I saw MMS’s kitchen in her book  Inspired You I have wanted to try it, when I get tired of it I can always put subway tile over top of it or I still have the roll of beadboard wallpaper to use.
chalkboard backsplash 007
Stush took off the trim on the side of the door so I could paint, I have to get it put back on tomorrow and we still have to buy trim for the chalkboard paint.

Do you know what I like about it the most? It was so darn cheap to do, 3 coats each side and the Valspar paint was just $14.99.
My hubby’s garage doesn’t look good thur the door but for summer I liked these valances from Lowes so I would have more light in the kitchen.

May in Review

Hello everyone!
Today I thought I’d show the month of May’s review of what I’ve done as far as the house is concerned, that way I can see how productive I have been too!
I’m really happy with my chalkboard backsplash, only two coats of it did the trick. I also painted the switchplates with it and sprayed them with a protective matt finish so that they don’t chip or scratch! Read about it here

005
I do want to make another banner out of burlap soon because I loved making this one out of scrapbook paper to hang on the chippy window. Read about it here

Pepperoni Dip, so good! Sorry about the blurry picture. Read about it here

Fireplace 2013 008
I also worked on my front porch for the month of May and was so happy to finally get out and do it as I know we all were, right? Read about it here

I’ll be doing this at the beginning of each month, maybe it will help me get more things done around here? lol

Chalkboard Paint Backsplash

Did you ever want to try something but didn’t know if it would work out but knew if it didn’t it would be easy to do over?
That’s what I decided to do with the chalkboard paint, I thought why not, I still have the beadboard wallpaper I can use over it if I don’t like it. So here it is…
005
Just fooling around with the chalk

004

Than I got a little fancy with the chalk! I’m not very good with it but I love the look of it!
007

I just threw this up there before I took pictures:)
003
I still have the other side of the kitchen to do but have to wait until Stush tapes it off for me. We also have to get trim for where it ends.

006

This is what it looked like after I had seasoned it.
002
I’m liken it, even my husband likes it too!

Samantha’s Day

It has taken me since Friday to do this post!
Do you find your days getting busier and busier since the weather is getting warmer and I must say prettier? Mine are… every weekend is either shopping (for a dress for the wedding, wish I would find one already, I found shoes that are dressy but comfortable which is really rare so now I have to find a dress to match the shoes!!!) or parties for communions or graduations or wedding showers! This weekend is shopping and a communion party for my great nephew! Really crazy! Last weekend was Samantha’s first Holy Communion…plus her 8th birthday but we celebrated her birthday the week before…see how crazy!

An Eclectic Look

I found this galvanized container at TJMaxx for $3.99 and couldn’t pass it up and “Paris” on the burlap made it even sweeter!
plants 001

plants 004
Philodendron … the only plant I can’t kill.lol
With chalk I wrote a quote about exercising , which I’ve been doing a lot of lately, my son is getting married in June and trying on dresses should be a happy time right?
Really liking this look below…I also put an old grain scoop on top of the books to hide the heat/air return.
plants 005

I read this everyday, it sure helps!
plants 002
I’ve brought out things that I love…
plants 006

such as this picture I bought in Jamaica 2 years ago.
plants 007
I only paid $5.00 for it, I bring it out in the spring because it reminds me of warmer weather. Nate says to have things out that you love and it will work, so I’m giving it a try.

We will see how it goes and if he’s right.lol

On Top the Old Hoosier

I’m playing around with PicMonkey this morning so please excuse the pictures as I learn how to do everything they provide, also excuse the ball jars on the floor to the left. I hate to take them down to the basement in case I would want to use them again since I’ve been playing around the rooms of my home.
hoosier 001
I like this arrangement better on top but still disliking the heat return vent, I think it’s the problem I have when I go to decorate it.
hoosier 003
I’ve been shopping my home and put a wire basket that I had under my end table on top with some books in it. Also the plant holder that I found at the church sale for .10!
hoosier 002
Two demi johns that I found at Goodwill and wicker candle/bottle holder on the left side.
hoosier 005
I added the black and white tea towel on the side but would like to get a grainsack one with a black stripe.
hoosier 006
The basket I found for pennies and for those that are new to my blog the chair I found at the side of the road years ago. Love when that happens but are few and far between for me!
hoosier 004
Thank you to all my new followers, always appreciate you stopping by!
