Hydrangeas on a Black Door

Hello everyone!
While shopping a few weeks back I found the hydrangeas in a tin pail at Kirklands. Loved the sage green satin ribbon tied to hold the pail flat against the door. I needed something new(you know how that is) and had bought a spring wreath but it just didn’t show up on the black door to my surprise! Maybe because I only had the wreath out as my start of spring decorating on the porch.

Now the white rocker is out and a pillow placed on it, see the green pot by the rocker? I found that at Dollar General  a month or so ago and should have bought two…

For the past couple years I’ve been buying pansies at the beginning of the spring season, my mom loved them and had told me that her maternal grandparents had raised them and sold them. Here is a picture of my grandmother, Rondell and the pansies that her parents grew, I’m thinking this is about 1915/16.

Planted in a $2.00 yardsale container, thank goodness they have started up again.

Speaking of yardsales, I found this pail at at one for .25, painted a chalkboard square on it and my fav number 7.

What to do When Your Snowed In

Why you grab your camera and take pictures and walk around the house snapping, doesn’t everyone do this? If you blog you do! lol.
That’s what I just did while still in my pj’s even went out on my front porch to take pictures of the snow that started late this morning and is still coming down. I’ll show you later.
I also put the chair cover and couch cover in the washing machine, I had the couch cover off for a while but I like it better than the blue so I figure the more I wash it the softer it will get, it’s the third time for it. I have two of these chairs that were given to me as you can see they are chippy! The desk I found for $25.00 at a yardsale.

I really can’t decide which I like…this is when I had it in the entryway.P1302146 the cover on it or not.

I also took a picture of the wreath on my front door, I had bought this wreath about two years ago and just never knew what to do with it. This year I decided to it was going to be my “winter wreath,” goes so well with all the snow we are getting.

The desk is coming along, this is with one coat of primer, I’m doing this right, letting it dry for a couple days between coats of primer and paint, because it will be used a lot and I want it to look good.

I now have an empty wall in the diningroom since I moved the bookcase out, I found this oval frame at Michaels, they sell them just like this to use without a picture and it was on sale!

So maybe I’ll do something like this with other pictures thrown in, I guess I’m just going to fool around with it to see if I like it or not. The square one is from GW for $2.99 which reminds me I haven’t been there for a while!

So here is the snow we are getting, the tree there in the background is a Holly Tree always looks so pretty with snow on it.  snow 2013 and random pics 001
Thanks for stopping by and for your sweet comments, I always appreciate it!

Spooky Night

That’s what the sign says on my wreath, I figured I’d just go ahead and decorate for Halloween too when I did my front porch. I know I didn’t want to have a lot of stuff to take down so this is what it is:)

011
I bought the sign and garland that you see at the top of the door for $6.97 at Marshall’s. I thought it was cute and in my favorite black and white!
012
Pumpkin $5.99 at Giant Eagle, I almost choked.lol Needless to say I only bought one!
015
I had every intension of spray painting this lantern black but didn’t get to it!

Instead of crows this year I did owls… of course Buster knocks the bottom one off with his nose looking out the sidelight.
017
The light at the end of the driveway, the pumpkin I got a while ago at a yardsale for .25, you can use a candle in it if you want but for safeties sake I don’t .

My Two Fall Door Wreaths!

Did you ever do something to your home and think “That’s it!!! That’s exactly what I wanted it to look like.” That’s the way I feel about my front door, I am so loven it painted black! When I added my newly done yard sale wreath to it was an Ahhhh moment for me.

The wreathes cost me $2.00 a few years ago and I almost sold them at our yardsale this past August and I’m so glad I didn’t because for just a few dollars and using some things from previous years I turned it into a something so pretty. I priced fall wreaths already done out there at the stores and just wasn’t willing to pay the price although they were nice.  I added fall leaves one by one with hot glue then added ribbon/bow that I made from JoAnn’s. The orange sunflower and pumpkins are pics I also found at JoAnn’s.

This one is on the inside of the door using a double door hanger from JoAnn’s It was just a plain old berry wreath that I added leaves and pics to, I think they both came out great plus saved me money and you can’t beat that!

Here is how they look on the doors!

Rooster Rug and More!

Hi everyone! September 2nd, still can’t believe it and it’s going to be 91 today, I think I’ll decorate for fall after Labor Day! Being so hot today just isn’t the day to do it! Yesterday was my daughter Michele’s birthday so I took her out to breakfast than went shopping, seems like that’s all I get done, never any projects do I get finished as far as painting furniture goes, I do have some projects in mind though so that ‘s half the battle!

So here’s what I found to to add to my little abode:) One of my favorite blogs to visit is Dreaming of a Farmhouse, Michele’s home is so full of things that she loves and you can tell by how she decorates it, she lives in military housing but you sure wouldn’t know it, she has done it so beautifully! Anyway, someone left her a comment that Walmart had black kitchen rooster rugs , when I went with my daughter we stopped there and there were only two left….I love it and can just imagine how it will look up against the cabinet doors when they are painted Cottage White!

P9011338

There was only one of these jars left, I wavered back and forth, you know how you do, should I or shouldn’t I….I should! LOL I had a crockery lookin cookie jar and wanted a different one because you see I have a Cookie Monster living with me, Mr. K! He loves cookies so I bought the peanut butter cookies for him and ah, so I’d have something in the jar when I took the picture to show you:)

P9011339

We also stopped by GW, my daughter is not a GW person but she’s learning, she is redoing her home too, her walls are painted RL Hemp so now she is painting her dark pine trim Cottage White! She is off this week and has painted her coffee table and bench plus they painted the front door black, so she’s doing good.

I did find this arrangement for $1.99, Michele turned her nose up at it though but it’s fall and for the price I thought I could add to it, which I will.

P9011343

Also found one of these, the taller one, I can never remember what they are called, I’m sure it’s new though because it has a scan label on the bottom!  Neat though I thought!

P9011336

I don’t think I showed my kitchen door to you yet, I painted it Cottage White back in July and also making spaghetti there as you can see! I still turn the handles to the side like I have four little ones at home still.LOL

P9011342

Next stop Big Lots….I found this rug for in my entryway, I had an old, navy braided one there before and it just didn’t go with the look I’m after. Michele bought new kitchen rugs and a waste basket for her bathroom for $5.00, Big Lot’s has some great saving at times I think!

P9011337

Day before yesterday I stopped at our local hardware store and was so impressed to see these paint chips called Cottage Style, I picked up Fantasy Gray there were so many neat paint colors! This is for a project I have in mind!

P9011349

Here is the paint chip and the guy actually put a dab of the paint on the bottom right hand corner so I think it matched great!

P9011350

That’s it guys, hopefully I’ll have something done to show you next time, I feel like such a slacker.LOL  Also thanks for all your sweet comments on the arrival of Nicholas he is doing great and hopefully I’ll be seeing him again tomorrow!

I’m joining these sweet ladies for their linky parties, thanks ladies for all you do!

My Front Door…Done!

Hello everyone, it’s going to be another hot one today 87 with possible storms and showers, I’d love it if it did rain, so that for just today, I wouldn’t have to water flowers! I’m trying to keep them nice for at least Saturday, so I’m keeping my fingers crossed
I’ve wanted to show you my newly painted front door for a week now so here it is…love!
After
P7061058
before painted barn red from last Christmas…liked it but it was time for a change!
005
What a difference huh?  A friend of ours spray gunned it for me and it turned out great I just had to do the outside trim of it, his helping like that sure saved me hours of time…thanks Dave!
1. black paint free, Dave had some already!
2. Welcome mat from Dollar General
3. Rocking chair from Ollie’s
4.black polka dotted pillow from GW
5. little plant stand that I painted from GW

So here is a little tour around the house and to show you all the work Mr. K did!
Love to get a new door handle but out of the question right now, maybe next year! Did you notice the out of date screen door is gone! Took me six years for that one ladies!
P7061072
To the right of the porch!
P7061078
This is my window box below the kitchen window when I first planted the flowers and then painted the window boxes…duh!

Look how they have grown! I had to take out those little red flowers, because they weren’t doing so well…yes, I went blonder!
P7061074
Stush and Dave weren’t sure about a black door but when it was up and done they both liked it!
P7061059
This is to the left of the door…
P7061077
and around the corner of the house! I used to be really into birdhouses!
P7061087
Now to the right again!
P7061075

P7061078
With a light on in the window!
P7061081

P7061086
Beginning of our driveway, Mr. K built the newspaper holder!
P7061083
Another birdhouse on another stump of a tree that the lighting got to!
P7061082
The garage door is painted khaki like the window boxes and the boat is finally uncovered:)P7061084
That’s not our shed but the churches across the road. The galvanized washtub I found at a yardsale for .25!
P7061065
Here’s a closer look!
P7061064
Under the tree here is a side of an old farm wagon, you can see the side there where a wheel would have been!
P7061062
This place always looks so cool looking even when it’s in the 90’s!
P7061071
Part of the back, you should see it now all filled with tents and tables!
P7061088
