Fall Vignettes

Hey, tomorrow is Friday and the start of the weekend, football game Friday night

than babysitting Saturday, Sunday I just plan to relax… what about you?

Here is my entrance to the diningroom/livingroom, I like the mirrors here from Target, they

were in my bedroom but I brought them out here and they fit perfectly!

My owl planter from Walmart from a few years ago, this year I added some leaves.

See the white vases in my hutch? They are now all sitting on top

of my gray chest of drawers, I’ve seen that in a couple homes and

always wanted to try it! I moved furniture around in my bedroom

so I’ll have to take some pictures for you!

My coffee table with the lantern from Target and the ceramic leaf

that I found at a yardsale for $3.00, I almost sold it last year but

decided to hang on to it, I like the white pumpkins on it.

My livingroom, the little pumpkins I got at TJMaxx and the galvanized container

I found at Goodwill. The basket on the hearth with the birch logs in it I found at

a church sale and painted gray!

Not Doing Much, Just Moving Things Around

Hi Everyone! I hope you are all doing great and that your ready for the weekend.

I haven’t been doing much decorating just been watching grandkids which wears

me out but I do love them…they crack me up at times!

I did move things around so I thought I’d show you some pics of it!

I moved the cabinet, which was from Michael’s and moved a picture

from the livingroom and the chair from the desk, to this corner.

The white faux hydrangea’s are from Pottery Barn, they were on sale and free shipping!

I can’t wait to see these walls gray with white trim!!!

My hubs hasn’t been feeling well though and has an

appointment with a heart dr. , the same one I went to. If

you could find it in your heart to say a prayer for him I’d be so grateful.

I know when you prayed for me that time it sure worked!

Like I said I’ve been moving things around, this is the top of my bookcase, don’t you

love the jug/vase up there? I was looking on line /Pottery Barn and was loving

their jugs/vases but of course not the prices, then I remembered seeing this one

at Walmart on the clearance shelf but figured it would be gone. Nope, it was still

there so I brought it home.

The pillow on the chair I found at a church sale $2.00 and it was mine and

brand new too!

I also used one of my Mother’s Day gifts from my daughter, a gift certificate

for a pedicure, felt good ladies and I so needed one after all those cold months

in boots!

That’s about all right now, I did by two things at the consignment store right by

where I get my hair done, nothing earth shattering but cute just the same, I’ll share

next time!

Church Lamp…Score

Hello everyone, yesterday was gray and chilly but today is sunny and I’ll be heading out for my walk/run,

yes, I said run, soon. At 62 I’m adding it to my exercise routine. This will be my sixth week of doing it, meaning

walking fast and then a burst of running. My stomach has went down and I feel fit and healthy. You see almost 9 months ago

I quit smoking about 2 packs a day, never did I think I could quit but I did using the patch and a generic one at that! So,

I figured if I can quit smoking, (I can do anything!!!) I can lose this 15 lbs. that I’ve gained since quitting, believe me you gain weight whether you want to or not.

Now to the lamp, I’ve had it in the basement for close to two years, I found it at a church sale for $2.00. I

was going to try painting the shade like I’ve seen it done out there in blogland but it was to dirty and looked

terrible.

Here it is :

I have it on the end table in the livingroom, the lamp I had there was to tall, this one looks a lot better and sure saved me money!

The new lampshade is from Walmart.

One other thing I wanted to show you is the new teal pillow that I found on sale at Kohl’s, new

picture above the couch is from TJMaxx.

Michael brought all these baseballs home for me from Annapolis, he umpires down there.

We have had such a pretty fall this year mostly weather wise.

2 Church Sales Over the Weekend

I’m doing a little work on my blog so bare with me, I like to change it around, I missed my pictures in the header♥

I don’t plan on weekends like this past one but I must say it is so nice when they do work out to gather some treasures, such beautiful weather too. I had forgot about both sales … a sign and my son reminded me 1. His church food fair and indoor flea market. 2. The sign reminded me of the one I always try to make, they have one in the spring and fall.

I always find neat things at my son’s church every year, last year I found
Wicker trays for $3.00, so I was keeping my fingers crossed that I would find something neat this year too.

I think I did very well, I spied this ironstone sugar bowl for $2.00, an older lady was sitting where you paid and said she had brought it in and mentioned that she had the teapot to go with it in her china cabinet. It’s a nice sized sugar bowl, doesn’t have the lid though.

Sorry for the blur on this next picture…it’s Martha Stewart Wrought Iron Sconces, which were originally $25.00 and found them for $5.00!

I figured I could use them if Jenn ever took the hutch, I’d love someday to get a dresser. Until that day I could maybe use one in the bathroom and one under the cabinets in the kitchen. It even came with the light bulbs.

A bunch of placemats were piled on this wrought iron wall hanging, I could see the very top of it

peeking out so I had to investigate. Loved it when I could see all of it, didn’t have a clue where

I could use it but for $2.00 I figured it was worth taking it home.

I’m so glad I bought it, put the picture back in the other room

and hung this one in it’s place.

At the other church sale all books were .50 so I bought a few, I like

this cookbook and do plan on making the Spinach-Feta Stuffed Chicken soon.

Great down to earth recipes inside.

A brass planter also for a $1.00, brass is becoming popular again so I figured I’d snatch it up. I’m working on something that I know will look so neat on top of it, hopefully

I’ll be done with it soon.

I did find some pinecones with some florist wire wrapped around them but didn’t take a picture of them, I think you

would all know what they look like.

My Spring Mantle 2013

Hello everyone! I hope your having a nice evening, I took some pictures today because although it’s cold out the sun was shining!
I’m so ready for capris and flip flops aren’t you?
I knew I bought the two wicker trays at the church sale for something and for $3.00 I didn’t go wrong! I placed the cloche on the mantle too along with the new, little suitcase.

The eggs are about 30 some years old, I made them in ceramics class and the moss ball I found at Walmart…the last one they had!

The rabbit is from TJMax, they had a smaller one but I thought the bigger one would look better up there!

The egg cup is from Target with a Dollar Tree egg, looks how it sparkles in the mirror!

I tied some of my Baker’s twine around this box, it’s the blue kind!

Now for this picture…do you think the burlap lampshade with the red going around it looks better or the plain one that I changed it to? I just can’t decide!

The Start of Hanging Plates

SNS at Funky Junk Interiors is having a theme party called ~Decorating with Plates~ and since I’ve started to decorate with plates around my bookcase yesterday I thought I’d join in the fun!

The first plate I found was at a church sale and the 2nd is from TJMaxx on clearance for $2.00, I loved the black and white of it. The third one is an old platter that I think I found at the fleamarket a while ago.

I found the one below at the antique store for $1.99 in N.C. I loved the green pattern and the maker is Homer Laughlin and the name of the pattern is Pastoral.

I finally feel like decorating again, the tests came back negative thank God and you for yours prayers and good thoughts, they were the longest 7 days!

I almost forgot to show you the other treasure I found at the antique store, isn’t it neat? I’m thinking on painting it, I have saved a picture of one on Pinterest and plan on doing it soon.

Now for my first find at a yardsale this year, of course it was in N.C. but that’s okay the day was sunny but a little chilly but was so much fun to get out of the car and see “stuff”! I only paid a $1.00 but I just thought it was neat with the little lip on the rim to pour with.

Paris Grey Basket and White Owl Lamp

I found this basket last November at a church sale for $3.00, a nice sized one too!

I’ve always wanted to paint it so today after getting the girls on the bus after a 2 hour delay ( because it was about 8 degrees this morning ) I came home and started on it. I used the rest of the Paris Grey, well maybe I have enough to paint an urn that I found there too!

I think it turned out really nice!

This is what it looked like before, it’s plastic lined so I guess you could put a large plant in it if you wanted to but I kill plants so I won’t be doing that!

I’m keeping it in my office, gee, it sounds so good to write that.:) Right now I have my burlap stored in it.

Here is a close up, I just dry brushed it on letting some of the finish show thru ASCP just went on so smoothly too!

Now here is the sweetest lamp ever that I bought to go on the desk, whenever I get that started, they have a 2 hour delay tomorrow too!

Isn’t he/her the cutest, love his/her face!

The shade is burlap and I found him at Burlington for $25.99, I didn’t think that was a bad price for both the lamp and the shade!

The taller lamp is just to big for the desk, you can see it on the floor back there. Yes, I still have to do the trim in white, maybe once I get the room going I’ll get it done, It’s like #1,000 on my to do list:)

Here’s the desk that I found in a dumpster when the college here was done for the summer, the best thing is that it was free!

The girl that used it and thur it away must have been an art major don’t you think? I have it all sanded and I’m going to prime it because the top is some sort of laminate plus all the magic marker art too. I have a quart of gray paint that I bought a while ago so I’m using what I have. I’d like to find some neat hardware for it also!

Texture on My Mantel

Hi everyone! I hope your are having a great evening.Yesterday was so warm here in Pa. just fooled you into thinking it was spring…can’t wait because it is my very favorite season!

This morning I played around with my mantel, I wasn’t liking the look of the round mirror there so I put back the black framed mirror for now. I’m going to start looking for a larger one with maybe a more ornate frame, the one I have is just to plain looking. Here are some pics I took to show you. I tried to play around with different textures just to see how I liked it!

I have to shop around the house to find something to replace it, which I’m finally discovering to do and finding out that I don’t have to buy…just use something I already have! The only thing I have bought lately for the mantel are the topiaries and I got those on sale!

I’m not even sure it’s silver just metal I think, it was $2.00 at a church sale this past fall. As I was looking at this picture I noticed the pine needle laying there…I swear they multiply, I’m still picking them up:)

This is to the left of the mirror… ceramic balls are from Pier One, vase from Goodwill and for some more texture I gathered some twigs and tied with twine for on top of the dropcloth covered books!

To the right…do you see the nails? I haven’t got Stush to get them out yet, they are from Christmas for the ton of stockings I have to hang. The black and white picture is from the consignment store $3.00, urn I painted with ASCP…$2.00 at a yardsale and the box (says varnishes) was $4.00 at a yardsale a couple years ago! Isn’t is funny how I can remember the price of what I find and not remember what day it is? lol.

So how do you like it? I do think the tray has to go though! One thing I do love about it is the whiteness of the fireplace:)
I went shopping with my bff Friday, I’ve been looking for something for a certain place and found it at Bed Bath and Beyond, here’s a pic of it, next post I’ll show you where I hang it! I had a 20% off coupon too!
