Good evening! It’s about 11:10PM and I’m just getting on here to post my summer cloche, we had friends over today so I was a little busy!
Marty at A Stroll thur Life is having a wonderful Summer Cloche Party, I can’t wait to really sit and look at everyone’s Cloche’s and get some great ideas too! Stop over at Marty’s to see and join in on the fun too!
Here’s mine! Since it’s summer time I used seashells on a milkglass cake plate that I found at GW for about $2.00, I couldn’t get my hands on it fast enough.LOL

I thought it went well with the blue ticking for summer.
P7181152
The seashells are from Walmart and the starfish from Pat Catan’s…I think!

Fooling With My Sewing Machine!

No, not the kind that you sew on and make beautiful pillows and drapes and bed skirts. I’m talking about the old one that was given to me years ago that I have in the room off the kitchen, I never know what to call that room by the way.
I was just sitting here with my lap top blog hopping and my eyes rested on that sewing machine and I thought at that moment that it needed something else on it besides the lamp and African violet that I haven’t killed yet, four years and it’s still alive a major thing for me with plants! So I remembered that I had two of these milk glass compotes, one I bought at GW and the other one given to me at a yardsale each worth $12.00 I looked it up on Google:) Anyway I filled it with shells and added it to the sewing machine!
P6160975
I then added a picture of Sam when she was two on a black picture holder…P6160976
I found this floral arrangement at a moving sale last weekend for a $1.00! I thought it was so pretty for the warmer weather.
P6160978
It’s hard to take pictures at 8:15 at night and it’s also hard to decorate the top of that sewing machine, always did have a hard time with it!
P6160974
Here’s another pic of it, I think I like it and hope you do too!

Changes in the Bathroom

I love black and white, I think it makes such a statement in a room, so I decided to do a little redo in my bathroom using  black and white in a new shower curtain, I found it at Burlington Coat Factory for only $9.99! In the mirror you can see the cabinet that I had found at the flea market for $5.00 a few years ago, love the zebra storage container on the top that I found at the same place, actually have two bigger ones that go with it. I also added a few pieces of milk glass and a new picture picture frame from Marshall’s!
I love the greenery in there too, the milk glass vase is from GW and the greenery is from Michael’s that was on sale at the time. The hand towels are from the Shabby Chic line at Target, also bought the rug that goes with it but forgot to take a picture of it, it’s white too!
P6020907
Here’s the top of the cabinet and you can see the silver frame alot better! I have always loved this picture of the grands, they have grown so much since this picture was taken, Samantha on the far right is going to first grade already.
P6020908 o
This bathroom is so small, for the very top picture I was standing in the hallway to at least get a good enough picture:0 With this one I’m practically in the tub.LOL
P6020910
Well, that’s just a little of what I’ve been doing, still deciding what paint color to use for the desk…Oh, the handtowel there is from K-Mart got it on sale!
So happy that you stopped by, always love your comments too♥

Finally Painted My Hoosier!

Going from one style to another is FUN and HARD work let me tell you! Picking the right paint colors to me is stressful to say the least! I wanted to paint my Hoosier cupboard a neat color but just didn’t know what shade it would be until I saw my free sample from Valspar's Jade Bath. So I tried it out on a cutery carrier I had had for a while and really liked the color.
Here is my Hoosier  when I was prim…yes I made that sampler you see there and I mounted on a bread board.
100_2327
I still have all my crocks and salt glazed jars which I found back in the 80’s for $3.00 each.
100_2334
Here it is now, my husband said it looks white to him but it’s not as you can tell by the runner on the table and the white single drawer shelf there to the left on the wall!
P4300638
I used a soft setting on some pictures, this is looking in from the kitchen, I’m thinking of taking the ceiling fan down and adding a new ceiling light…that would be another decision to make:)
P4300650
I like what I have here, the scale I found for $5.00 at a community yardsale last year, the bowl is from GW and the letter holder is from TJMaxx or Marshall’s.
 P4300619
We were at Pat Catan’s yesterday, my daughter had to get tea cups for Samantha’s birthday tea party today, I found these all white sea shells and three starfish(I bought all they had left) the tea light on the scale is shaped like a seashell and I found that at GW and also the S&P’s.
P4300646
Not to happy with what I have on top the two glass holders are made from Dollar Tree glassware and the rusty birdcage is from Marshall’s. Don’t you just love cool return register’s? I’m thinking a neat basket up there to hide it would be better!
P4300626
Of course I kept the original hardware which is at least 100 years old, I bought this hoosier for $100.00 back in the early 80’s from a 100 year old man’s estate it was white with black and red decals on the center of each door, I think now it is the prettiest it’s ever been.
P4300631
Here is a peek of my livingroom with the soft setting, the only slipcover I can find on the net is PB and that is about 149.00 for it! See the hall wall right between the picture of Syd and the cupboard with all my milkglass? I’m looking for a picture to go there so far no luck!
P4300651
I’m liking what I’ve done so far, seeing it on pictures gives some satisfaction, are there other areas that I haven’t done yet sure is but I’ll keep you posted on them, after all I have all the rest of spring and summer to do them! Have a wonderful day!
I’ll be at these parties!

Yard Sale Overload

Yes, every year we have our annual yard sale at my sister’s home, she has a huge yard and there is usually 5 to 6 people selling in it with canopies helping to keep some of the sun out, unfortunely not the heat, it was in the 90’s both days hot… is not the word for it:)
We had a wonderful time though like we always do, it not only means getting to sell things you don’t want anymore but getting together with family, we have been doing this since the 70’s, my BIL sells hotdogs and kobasie sandwiches and pop and we all wait to eat them, they always smell so good!
I didn’t walk around to the other sales, just to hot so I shopped at the ones that were set up by me…look at these roses, I bought them from my sister Judy for .50 and put them in the milkglass GW vase, they look real don’t they?

100_3218
I found these two prints for $2.00 and on the back was a label that said Pier One $4.98 a piece! They measure 16 by 8 so far Walmart and Target haven’t any that size but I’ll keep looking!
100_3221
This piecrust table was my mom’s, I can remember playing on it when I was little, my sister had it and said she wasn’t using it anymore and would I like to have it…I love it, I don’t know where it will end up but I’ll find a place!
100_3231
I traded my sister a crock bench for a box full of these blue and clear glass ball jars…so neat to find so many of them at one time! One of them is old because you can see the bubbles in the glass, I got about twenty in the box and different sizes!

100_3225
At first I thought this was a sugar bowl but now I think it’s a candy container, I guess you could use it either way, I bought it from my niece for a $1.00!
100_3236
Here is another picture of it!
100_3219
Of course these two wanted to be on Grammy’s blog so here is Sydney with her cousin’s yard sale find...a Sponge Bob lunchbox!
100_3217
Samantha bought three Barbie dresses still in the package for .50 she is a little bargain shopper! The kids had it alot cooler in the pool!
100_3216
I did really well close to $600.00 but I had alot of prims to sell, some I didn’t sell because I just paid to much for them and knew I wouldn’t make a good profit on them. I was very pleased though.
I did buy some things at Target and Lowes so I’ll show them in my next post. I’m starting to see a little light at the end of the tunnel with this decorating change over, I spray painted some more today seems like that’s all I do but it needs to be done before cold weather sets in.

I’m linking to Nifty Thrifty Tuesday at Coastal Charm and Today’s Thrifty Treasures at Southern Hospitality stop by to see everyone, it’s like looking at a great decorating magazine only better!

Estate Sale Today

Hello everyone,
Today was my first estate sale this summer, I was there early to try and beat the heat! Still got hot though.
I found some neat things but the prices could have been a bit lower, nothing was marked and I don’t blame them since there was a ton of stuff inside and outside, shed and basement, I wasn’t interested in tools or Christmas decorations or Halloween stuff and that’s what they had alot of. There was alot of things I could have bought but I’m really, really trying to buy only the things that I love and want in my home plus there is a garage sale tomorrow!LOL
They had one lady there who told everyone the price of what they wanted not once did I hear her say anything was under a $1.00…sort of turned me off if you know what I mean. Like this pitcher, myself I thought it should have been .50 but  nope…a $1.00! I liked it though, I think if you enlarge the picture you can see the cluster of grapes on it.

100_3023
I rearranged my cupboard and have it on the top shelf to the left.
100_3022
I think this is milk glass I really don’t know but liked it anyway and yep, it was a $1.00.
 100_3026
I dug thru alot of linens and this runner was the only one that I loved so I didn’t think a $1.00 for it was bad at all.
See the milk glass tooth pick holder? It was my mom’s and I always remember it being on the kitchen table growing up, I’m so glad now that I grabbed it up when she passed away, although I didn’t use it until now…so I guess I’m collecting it milk glass now.LOL
100_3027
These rose printed pillow cases were a $1.00 a pair…
100_3030
I saw this seashell stuffed in back of a cabinet and was afraid she would want $5.00 for it…nope a $1.00 too!
100_3031
I thought these were neat, terra cotta candle sticks covered with tiny sea shells, I think I’ll use them outside.
100_3032
I think my neatest find of the day was this aqua  suitcase for $5.00, its from the 40’s or 50’s, terrible picture of it but was in a hurry.

100_3029
I’m linking, for the first time to DebbieDo’s Garage salen so stop over to see everyone’s finds!
