Stopped at an Antique Fleamarket

Over the Memorial Day Weekend we headed up the mountains to our friends camp and on the way
we stopped at a antique fleamarket all out in the open and the weather was wonderful, sunny and
not to hot…just right!
I found this cute little metal box all chippy and rusty, I put it on the shelf and I think I’m going to
keep it there…minus the price tag of course.

Here’s the top of it, I have no idea what it was used for, I was surprised it was still there!

From the same man I found this tool carrier, it needs painted, I bought a Folk Art Paint
called Robin Eggs Blue but do you think I can find it? I hate when I put something
somewhere and then can’t remember where.
I just bought some pink impatients for it at Walmart, I think it will look so neat
with the blue…if I can find it!

My favorite was this basket but when I saw it I thought it would be
at least $35.00 so I looked it over but no price on it. I’m like well
it’s probably more than $35.00, I asked the old man how much and
he said $20.00 but I’ll let it go for $15.00…ok says me.LOL He also
told me that it was used to carry bread.

I like it better though with faux Hydrangea’s!

Right now it’s on my table in the diningroom but I was thinking of on top of the
fridge.

Here is my Clematis every year it never disappoints, it blooms in the spring
and that’s it so I wanted a picture of it before the flowers fade. We are so
behind in doing are back yard and opening our pool, living in the woods has
it’s pros and cons. Right now we have bag (tent) worms so bad, we have never
seen them so bad as this year, they are all over the back of our house and on
everything out there. My hubs has used a pressure washer but we don’t know
if they will come back. Oh, well:0

The Start of Hanging Plates

SNS at Funky Junk Interiors is having a theme party called ~Decorating with Plates~ and since I’ve started to decorate with plates around my bookcase yesterday I thought I’d join in the fun!
The first plate I found was at a church sale and the 2nd is from TJMaxx on clearance for $2.00, I loved the black and white of it. The third one is an old platter that I think I found at the fleamarket a while ago.

I found the one below at the antique store for $1.99 in N.C. I loved the green pattern and the maker is Homer Laughlin and the name of the pattern is Pastoral.

I finally feel like decorating again, the tests came back negative thank God and you for yours prayers and good thoughts, they were the longest 7 days!

I almost forgot to show you the other treasure I found at the antique store, isn’t it neat? I’m thinking on painting it, I have saved a picture of one on Pinterest and plan on doing it soon.

Now for my first find at a yardsale this year, of course it was in N.C. but that’s okay the day was sunny but a little chilly but was so much fun to get out of the car and see “stuff”! I only paid a $1.00 but I just thought it was neat with the little lip on the rim to pour with.

Antique and Retail Finds

Hello everyone! I do apologize for not posting lately, I just haven’t felt like it to tell the truth. I still haven’t found out the results of the biopsy yet, I guess it takes more than a week for them to get the results back. I do love to blog just had to take a backseat with it.
We had so much fun in Winston Salem, North Carolina. Jennifer’s birthday surprise turned out great! The weather was chilly though and the day we were to leave there was an ice storm, not to bad but we had to put off leaving for home for a couple hours.
We did a fun visit while there… in Mount Airy, which is the home of Andy Griffith star of The Andy Griffith Show and Mayberry RFD. Having grown up with Andy, Barney, Opie and Aunt Bea, I wanted to see the place that Andy fashioned his show from. I’ll do another post on it because there are just to many pictures that I took.:)
I will show you this one picture of the antique store I bought some neat things at. Two large floors of goodies!

I had a wonderful time there just looking around and the owners were very friendly as was anyone that we talked to that day.
Ok, this is what I found, nothing big or expensive.
I found this picture of a young lady, she just caught my eye, she was 20% off so I only paid $6.00 for it, the frame is old too so I thought I got a deal on her. Next is my very first doorknob, I don’t know if it’s brass or not, doesn’t matter, I guess this is a start of a collection for me because I can’t wait to fill a basket with them.

I’m so sorry I thought I had taken pictures of the other two things I found, one is from my first yardsale of the season in N.C., oh well, I guess I’ll just go on to the retail things I found and show you the others in my next post.
The pillow I found at Burlington and thought it would go nice in my office! Do you see what I did with all the Ball jars I have! I just piled them into a wire and burlap basket, now if I need one they are there.

I bought a new bulletin board at Marshall’s and gave the one I made to my daughter, mine just looked to small on this wall this one fills it up nicely.

I stacked my two suitcases, something I’ve never tried before, at the antique store I saw one for $25.00, I paid $5.00 for the brown one with college emblems on it at the flea market one year and the turquoise one a $1.00 at an estate sale.

The small suitcase I found at TJMaxx, I had seen it a while ago and was surprised to still see it there. I just fell in love with the blue, glass jar with the rope around it on clearance for $5.00.

The room is coming along, a lot of moving things here and there and just trying to get it right I guess. My next purchase will be anew rug for in here, I can’t have anything light because this is a high traffic area so I’m going to take my time with looking for one!

You will find me at these parties:
Thank you so much for stopping by my blog, I always appreciate it! I know I have a lot of friends I need to respond to but I do hope you understand why I haven’t been around.

Diningroom Ready for Christmas Day

Hi all! Are you ready to see my diningroom decorated for Christmas? Well, I’m ready to show you…I really like it this year although some things I did the same and some things are newly done! I’m still loven the table legs painted with ASCP!
Christmas 2012 002
This wire basket I had found at GW last year, I’ve used it in the entryway but decided to use it here this year, when I found it I didn’t have to do a thing to it, I always love that part of finding a treasure don’t you? The handles on each side go up and down. I filled it with faux holly in a pot that I found at the flea market years ago, wrapped it in some left over burlap, used my burlap ruffled runner this way on the table and I was done!
I used DT snowflakes on my chandy like I did last year.
Christmas 2012 008
This is something new I did this year too, bought the small wreaths at DT and tied the black polka dot ribbon on, cute huh?
Christmas 2012 009
Next to the hutch, in the corner I added the wreath that I never know what to do with, on the shutter and the green plants from Ikea! I really like this corner this year for Christmas.

Christmas 2012 003
With my collection of old bottles I just added Santa and pinecones plus garland!
Diningroom 2012 005
I used different candleholders this year on the hutch white one from GW and the glass one from DT!
Diningroom 2012 004
On my mom’s piecrust table I made this vignette.
Diningroom 2012 001
Candles on a white ironstone platter!

A Little of This and That

Good morning to you! Did you have a wonderful weekend? Boy, was it fall weather here or what? I don’t think it got up to 50 yesterday and plus it was rainy, gloomy and all that and today looks the same!

I thought I’d share with you some dcor I have in the livingroom.

This one is on the stepback cupboard that hubs built for me a few years back…I’ve always loved it.

The bottom suitcase I found at the fleamarket for $5.00, the round one on the top was from Tuesday Morning, painted it and distressed it! The little cutout witch is from GW for some change, you can put a tea light in back, looks really cute lit. Pumpkin from Dollar Tree!

Fall 2012 010

I finally redid my shelf that hubs also made, mirror is from fleamarket for $3.00, vases from GW, potted greenery from Ikea and frames from here and there repainted. Do you see the picture below the shelf?

Fall 2012 008

Well, I had painted it first with AS Chalkpaint in French Linen but just didn’t look right with the sofa and shelf!

012

So I went with good ole black! I think it looks much better don’t you?

Fall 2012 007

Where did I get the fabric? Well, it’s a  dinner napkin from Pier One, I had been to JoAnn’s and couldn’t find any script writing fabric, when I saw this it was an “ah hah” moment.Smile with tongue out

001

I got the idea from Sonny at 155 Dream Lane, mine isn’t half as nice as her’s but loved the idea of it! I’m also on the look out for some script wrapping paper like Sonny used, anyone know where I could find some?

I have another question for you, I have did pictures in Picmonkey, you know with the borders and text but when I go to my computer for the pictures I can’t find them! Yes, I save them on Picmonkey but I’ve been all over trying to find them but can’t…anyone know? Thanks in advance!

Also a huge Thank You to all that “liked” me on my Facebook, only 14 to go.

I’ll be partying here:
