Monday Morning

Good morning, well it’s also close to noon but still morning!
Did everyone have a wonderful weekend? Ours was busy as usual  swam at my daughter’s and cooked on the deck yesterday. Friday we went to dinner with our friends at a river side resturant the weather was perfect for eating out on their deck and good food too.
I thought today I would show you some things I have found at stores or at a great community yard sale that I went to with a friend about two weeks ago, had a great time and so many people sold which makes it even better!
This is what I think started my love of changing my decorating style, I found this at Target and just fell in love with the blue/green glass, it is so pretty… in my bathroom of course. The paint is called Golden Sand  Valspar  we just painted last year so I’m hoping to get to paint the kitchen and master bedroom next year, we will see, I can’t paint worth a darn so Mr..K has to do it all.LOL

I found the lemons at Walmart and made the cake plate a couple years ago, instead of a glass candlestick I used a teacup so I dug that out of the closet and put it on my kitchen counter/bar. The lamp, with shells was my husband’s mothers and I always loved it and now I finally get to use it, he said she used to take trips to Cape May NJ and bought it there…the shade I bought at Target!
The little glass candle holder with wire handle, my middle son bought  me for Mother’s Day, at the Yankee Candle Store in Annapolis MD where he lives and the candle is Sand & Sea or Sand & Beach can’t remember which but it does smell just like you are at the beach!!! Oh, and the glass cheese dome, plate and teacup are from Goodwill!

The soup tureen was a score at the yard sale!!! All four pieces for $5.00, I was thrilled, the silver container with the pink shabby roses was $1.99 at Goodwill…the white pitchers I already had!

The white scale, which I have wanted for forever was just $5.00, couldn’t believe it! The vinegar & oil containers are from the Dollar Tree, ceramic plate they are sitting on was .99 at Goodwill… little faux plant on top of the scale from Dollar Tree. I just fell in love with the purple pansy arrangement from Goodwill for a $1.99!!! This is sitting in the very corner of my kitchen counter!

I really don’t know about this find but I couldn’t leave it at the yard sale…it’s the mirrored candle holder, sorry not a good picture of it, it’s shabby looking so for $3.00 I figured if I didn’t use it I could always resale it at our annual yard sale in August. The picture hanging next to it I found at a yard sale about three years ago for a $1.00 I painted the frame black, I’ve always thought it was one of my best finds!

I also scored on this lamp for $2.00 it’s very heavy and so neat on my desk…I have to paint the desk but can’t decide what color to do it in.

Here is my last photo, I promise… the pillow is a Goodwill find for $1.50…love it! It is made out of a sweater material and is a ivory color.
Now here has always been my problem, my denim sofa, I must say it is very comfortable and wasn’t cheap and also you can take the cushion covers, back and seats, and throw them in the washer… so I’ll be having this sofa for a long time.LOL I do like it but just don’t know what style it fits in with. Any suggestions?  I’d love to hear what you think or how you see it in a decorating style another pair of eyes are always better don’t you think?

I didn’t think this would be a long post but I love to talk about decorating!
Have a wonderful Monday!

Hi Rondell,
You got some great finds! As far as what to call your style, don't worry about it. It will just be "Rondell" style. Your sofa is very cottagey so you can throw a little cottage in the mix too! You will have so much fun. The thing about cottage is it is such a mix of things so I would say you are headed towards vintage cottage.

You know that picture, did you see the one I bought at the garage sale over the weekend. It's kinda primitive I think, anyway I fell in love with it, went back the next day and bought it.

When you decorate without rules and with what you love, that's when you will be the happiest.

Hope that helps.

You have found some terrific buys. I have the same soap dispenser. I loved the old fashioned look of it and the green glass. Love your whites displayed and what a great buy on that soup tureen. I have an old vintage scale in my kitchen, too that I just recently bought. I look forward to seeing how you change your style up in your house. I am constantly changing things. Welcome to blog land and thanks for stopping by.

I have a beach theme in my bathroom and I love all the crisp white, blues, and greens in that room.

I think the couch is lovely and would look great with a bunch of old quilt pillows. Maybe you could find a quilt at a sale or thrift store in some shabby colors of pinks, light greens, blues, touch of yellow. Cut it up and make pillows out of it. I think that'd look cute.
