My Grandson♥

Here he is! Nicholas Demetri born Sunday August 28th, weighed in at 7lbs on the dot and 21 inches long! He’s my very first grandson after three granddaughter’s he was such a nice surprise, my son is over the moon with happiness ! His sister Alex is so happy to have a sibling now, of course she wanted a sister but she got this sweet little angel instead and she’s happy, she will make a great big sister!

This is what Grammy bought him, his first “boy” toy, you pull his tail and he plays music! Bought him at Target!

Speaking of Target, I was there Sunday evening and I had noticed a woman with two children with her and in another aisle of the store she said “ Are you Rondell?” I said “yes” but I knew I didn’t know her, she said “I’m Dortha and I read your blog and love it!” It’s one of my favorites.”You could have knocked me over with feather, I was surprised and thrilled to finally meet someone who reads my blog, so a big HI to you Dortha, you sure made my day, a new grandson and meeting a nice lady who enjoys my blog, thanks Dortha it couldn’t have been any better!

Fall is in the Air!

Yes, it is! Today was the start of school for Sydney and Sam now in 4th and 1st grade, when the bus pulled away my daughter had tears in her eyes saying “Their getting so big” I said “just wait”, right ladies? Of course we both forgot our camera’s but it was pouring down rain and chilly so it just wasn’t picture worthy, I’ll take some on a sunny day!  I hope they are having a wonderful first day of school♥

I sure had an experience Tuesday afternoon as I was watching both of them at their home, I was sitting at the computer (of course ) which is on the first level of their home and I could feel the floor vibrating underneath the computer chair. I looked up and the Barbie Townhouse was swaying back and forth, I think this lasted 60 seconds or so, the other’s were on the second level (livingroom and kitchen, they have a tri level home) “an earthquake” I said and of course they called me “crazy grammy!  NOT CRAZY!!! I knew it was true when we looked up the newspaper on the internet and Pittsburgh had felt it! My first earthquake and I hope my last, a really weird feeling my friends! I can still see that Barbie Townhouse going back and forth! Michael, who was teaching at the time in Anapolis, Maryland, felt it even worse, he thought a bomb had gone off, of course his school was dismissed for the day! I hope and pray it I never feel that again, a very helpless situation!

It’s a very fallish day here in Pa. so I’d like to share what I’ve been buying to decorate my home for the new season we are going to enter soon, just can’t believe it!

First is this fall wreath that I bought a Barbra’s Country Store over the weekend, love it!

Glittery garland from the Dollar Tree also! Love it under the soup tureen so maybe it will stay there when I decorate for fall, there is two there so maybe I should get another one!

 

See the glitter on them, and just a dollar, get them because they go fast! People are even buying Christmas stuff that they have started to put out!

A Fall Welcome mat from Family Dollar too…$6.00! I think it will look so nice in front of my black door which I’m still loven BTW!

I picked up this wreath holder at JoAnn’s, It will be so nice to be able to put a wreath on the front and this hanger lets me put another one on the inside of the door…it was $5.99!!

This beauty came from, of all places, Rite Aid! I got her 50% off for just $3.99, she is so classy looking isn’t she?

 

I think she’s the best fall chicken I’ve ever seen, those are acorns on her wing!

At the end of this past winter I bought these tin leaf napkin rings, two sets for $2.00 each at Bed Bath and Beyond with coupon!

Really neat looking I think, of course I have to get some newer napkins!

Also picked up these little gourd candles…so cute!

I think I’ll have a very pretty Thanksgiving table this year, the granddaughter’s are getting old enough now to make special memories and I want them to remember their Grammy’s home for the holidays, I never had grandparents and I’ve always felt cheated by that so I want to make their memories good ones, ones I wish I had!

My New Burlap Runner and Rooster Pillow!

 

Yes, I’m getting on the band wagon with the roosters and chickens, they are all over blog land and I just can’t help myself! Once I get the kitchen cabinets painted white I’m taking down the platters and plates above them and I’ll put some roosters and chickens up there with some white pitchers, I think anyway!

I haven’t posted for almost two weeks but have kept up a little with reading your blogs and one day last week I read Tracey’s blog Raggy Girl Vintage where she posted that she was having free shipping on her burlap runners! So I hopped on over to her etsy shop Raggy Girl and just fell in love with everything she makes and I just couldn’t resist the rooster pillow cover either! Isn’t he the cutest? Love it, you can imagine how excited I am to start collecting something again. The eggs there are antique wooden ones, the white one was used to fool the chicken into laying eggs, at least that’s what the guy said when I bought them!

The burlap runner is gorgeous, I’m getting a thing for runners too I guess but I’ve always wanted one and when Tracey had the free shipping I thought why not!!! Here it is!

Another view of it! You can also see where I hung the mirror that I found at the fleamarket for $3.00 I might add! I need something on the other side of the bookcase maybe black and white prints or family photos framed in white or black!

Desk Chair…Done!

 

Hi Everyone!

I’ve been working on this desk chair for a couple weeks, painting it Cottage White and using Mocha Glaze on it very lightly. This is the Before, I had already taken material off the seat part which just ripped right off, it was Mr.K’s mother’s and I think it’s from the early 60’s, you know with the gold paint?

I kept this fabric on and covered it with what I had on hand, I haven’t had any time to shop ladies and it’s killing me.LOL This chair will be in my bedroom with the desk that I did and the bedroom isn’t done by a long shot, the kids go back to school August 27th so maybe after then I’ll find the time. I think what’s holding me back is the paint color of the room that’s painted a Golden Sand by Valspar, fine for when I was into another decorating style but now I want to go with a light blue on the walls and I know my husband will just bulk at the thought of painting it and the trim and the cupboard doors again. Why don’t I do it myself you say? Because I’m the world’s worst painter, I even admit it.LOL

So here it is and I’m just not happy with it!

The fabric I had from last year when I had covered the seats on my wicker chairs for the porch!

I think it’s the brown in the material that’s throwing me off so I’ll have to make a trip to JoAnn’s, which is right next door to where I work to see what they have. I did get my 40% off coupon in the mail yesterday but I’m pretty sure it’s for next weekend, I’ll have to check!

Mean while it’s stays like it is, sometimes using what you have on hand just doesn’t work!!! That’s okay though that’s how you learn right?

My Entryway!

 

You have probably seen my entryway before and with working I haven’t did to much to it since the last time except to change the lampshade which I might change back!

This is looking in from the hallway, a little cloudy here in Pa.  The mirrors are all from GW plus the stand that I redid…peg rack from North Carolina which I love.

To the left is this small wall, remember this is coming from the hallway to the bedrooms and isn’t it funny how when you see pictures of your home like this you just zero in on what needs done? I can see the cabinets need painted, new light fixture above the sink, new counter tops and new or painted table in the diningroom! Just haven’t got the mojo to do it, maybe in the fall when it decides to cool off a bit!

I did change the lampshade this morning from the shabby chic to this leopard one, don’t know if I like it or not!

Soup Tureen Love!

 

Hi everyone! I got off early from babysitting and I’m off tomorrow so gee, I get to do a post! About time I think, whenever I don’t get to post I feel really lost or something, ever feel that way?

I did find some time to run into Good Will and couldn’t see anything I wanted to buy until I came upon an end cap and there she was sitting there waiting for me, with a spoon even, yeah! Here she is I don’t know how old she is but she is crackled…for just $5.99 and a nice size too!

I’ve also been on EBay and online stores trying to find a zebra runner, well would you believe that some ran up to $99.00? I don’t know what they were made of but that was certainly not the price I was thinking of but I found one yesterday and wait….for a whopping $5.00!!! Where at? Well, don’t rule out The Dollar General ladies, I had went in there to look for a Rooster picture, they didn’t have one but I sure about fell over when I saw this, the last one too! For something so trendy the price was right so I snatched it up real quick! Love how it looks and I think I’d like it even better if the table were white but maybe that will happen one day who knows!

It’s nice for a change isn’t it? Hey, for $5.00 it sure is!

Hello everyone! Is it hot enough for you? Our pool has been used so much this year thank goodness for it!  I’ve been working more than my three usual days so that’s why I haven’t been on here much since last Thursday plus watching the grands two days a week….I’m pooped by evenings end! I’ve been having fun this summer it’s been a great one for sure, it may have been really sunny and hot but that has been great for the usual activities summer provides so we have been really blessed!
