Update on My Kitchen!

Hello everyone! Well, I’m still plugging away on the kitchen, with each stroke of the paint brush and each roll of the little roller I come closer to my dream kitchen! There are so many decorating ideas swirling around in my head even when I’m trying to go to sleep, it just won’t quit! LOL I know you know the feeling! It’s a big project but after seeing all of you who have done this before with your kitchens and reading about all your tips on it, I feel like I’m finally ready to do it.

I’ll show you what I did last night, this is going to be a long project and the kitchen is a mess and it’s going to stay that way until it’s done! So far Mr.K hasn’t said a word about the mess and I’m so thankful for that, I don’t need that kind of stress right now and so far no tears have fallen!

I’m also taking Lou Cinda from Tattered Hydrangea’s comment to heart, where she said she did her’s one section at a time so that’s what I’m going to do. This is the side of the kitchen where the fridge is, this is with two coats of primer, should I go for the 3rd coat? or is two enough?

You can see in this picture what I’m trying to cover, I don’t want any grain to show thur!

I’m pretty sure I’ll be leaving the doors off the cabinets above the stove and using these zebra baskets/containers, I found them at Burlington Coat Factory at a great price and love them. I’ll show you what they look like with the white in the next photo below.

Looks great with the white doesn’t it? Of course this idea could change by the time the kitchen is done, like I said decorating ideas are swirling around in my head!

This is what we are living out of but you know what, it’s all worth it, ask me though in a couple of weeks, LOL,there is still more on the counters oh, I almost forgot to tell you this, yesterday we went to Lowes and Home Depot and while in Lowes Mr.K asked me to follow him, that he wanted to show me something, I had know idea and actually dreaded it thinking he wanted to show me a tool of some sort! But we went straight to the kitchen counter selection!!!! Evidently he had been there while I was at work one day, ( I thought my stuff on the counters had been moved, here the sweetie had measured the counters)he knew I wanted black so there was one with a fleck of tan in it. He asked me if I liked it and guess what? I did, know hesitation at all…YES! My dream kitchen is coming true!

Rondell, I'm very happy for you! Hang in there girl it will get done, and you have the satisfaction to know you are taking the time to do it right! I don't know if I told you this or not but when we first moved into this home in 2003 our kitchen cabinets were white but they had used maybe only 1 coat of paint or two coats of a very poor choice and I could see paint strokes and woodgrain coming through from the original carpentry wood. The house was built in 2001. I could not stand the way it looked even though it did have a shabby look to it. LOL! I had to redo all of the cabinets, drawers, trim, everything! It was a huge job even going white over white! I thought it would never ever end, and I used rollers too! So, I can really appreciate how much work it is for you to paint white over your brown stained cabinets. I know it is quite a job but I am sure you are going to love, love, love it when it all done! Very happy to hear you are getting a new countertop too! Congrats!
