A Tour of My Diningroom

As you can see my livingroom and diningroom are connected which makes for a long room to me anyway. This photo is taken from the diningroom .

This one from the livingroom. The black and white pillow I received the other day from Josh & Main I had some credit and saw this, delivery was fast I must say!

I took the pinecones off of the tray with the old bottles…

and came up with this, seashells, I think old bottles and shells sort of go together don’t you?

Hello everyone, happy, peaceful Sunday to you! I had a wonderful birthday week and only have one more party to go to with just one more birthday cake to eat then it will be over till the end of August. Whee! Thank you to all that stopped by to wish me a happy birthday, surprisingly I didn’t get all freaked out turning 61 I just would think about the quote on pinterest “ Don’t regret growing older, it’s a privilege that’s been denied to many” I thought I had pinned the quote but didn’t! This quote puts things in perspective don’t you think?

Believe me I got a lot of gift cards and went shopping Friday with my bff…Hobby Lobby was first and I found this cute birdhouse and with my 40% off coupon I think I got it for 6 something! Cute, black with some white French scrolling! When I buy a Boston fern for here I’ll put the birdhouse on the tree stump in the front of the yard. Soon there will be flowers in the window boxes and I can’t wait!

Hobby Lobby had their baskets at 50% off so I picked up the middle one, the one on the left I had and the one on the right I used for Chris when he was a baby my mom had made a liner for it Smile The top of my cabinets are really coming along for me, Kelly of The Essence of Home has the most beautiful style that I just love and loved the top of her cabinets with baskets! If you have never visited her blog stop over because her home is fabulous!

I thought I’d show you the other side of the kitchen with my milk crate that was in the garage, I was blog hopping and noticed on one blog a milk crate and it reminded me of the one under the work bench. Out it came, I emptied it out and dusted it off and now it’s on top of my cabinets, amazing where you can find things and best of all it was free! Love those!

We stopped at Ikea and got lost inside, so confusing to me.lol Anyway I bought these tin pots for .79 each and the greenery for 6.98 each I bought three and put one here on my open shelves!

Another went on this side of the mantel, if your ever in Ikea stop and see these because they are really lifelike for faux plants. I had a real ivy one here but it didn’t’ make it, so if I want greenery around my home I have to resort to faux ones.

I placed this one on my shelf above the couch, you can see how having live or good faux greenery really adds to the arrangement that you do!

61 and Still Going Strong

Yep, today is my birthday well, what’s left of it and tomorrow is my husbands! We were born a year and one day apart!

Do you know how hard it is to take a picture of yourself? Extremely hard!

Yesterday we celebrated my oldest son’s birthday with a surprise party, he turned 40!

April is our month for birthdays, starting March 31st and ending April 26th we do nothing but birthdays and by the end of it all I don’t want to see another piece of birthday cake!

My Open Shelves are Up

I cannot believe it is all coming together, what began as a dream/plan is here well, almost. I still have to accessorize on top of the cabinets more and just get it the way I want everything and then I’ll show you the whole kit and kaboddle!
Now if I hung these shelves I would have just eyeballed it and hung them up where at least one would have been crooked but not Stush, the engineer in him won’t let him do it that way.lol These shelves were just sitting there in the basement, Stush painted them white for me.

Then I finally got to play!

Do you like it? I went on my board on Pinterest that is titled Shelf Styling and got some ideas, the pictures that I saved showed me that different textures add interest and also showed what I liked and didn’t like for these shelves.

So for now I just shopped my house and came up with what you see old bottles, the letters are from JoAnn’s, faux plant from GW and the mercury votives are from Target!

Good Morning!

Good morning! I’m off today to watch Nicholas who is growing by leaps and bounds, so hard to believe he is 7 months already! Been working a lot because of Easter but next week I only work one day and I’m so looking forward to that let me tell you, seems like I’m never home! I like my home and that’s what makes it so hard at times!
Our kitchen is coming along, the cabinet doors are back on and the dishwasher is in! Our other one was leaking water whenever it felt like it even after hubby tried to find out what the problem was, this one is so shiney, maybe because the other one had a black front:0

I’ve also been playing around with some color, I love black and white but also love a little pop of color too! We will see how this works!

I gotta go, just wanted to pop in and say good morning and that I’ll be back tomorrow to post!

Not Done Yet

I did do some crafting today on two projects but before I get to those…here are my kitchen counters♥
We did get the sink in too, the guys from Lowes were here about noon and right on time! I still can’t believe the 1983 stainless steel sink is gone and in place I have a black one! Yay!!!

The cupboard doors still need to be put back on and the stove was brought back in on a dolly with me pushing while Stush pulled it up the two steps from the garage now my neck is bothering me, oh well, all for a beautiful kitchen right?

I think this is a better picture of the sink, I took the pictures right at dusk except for the one above.

While they were busy in the kitchen I tackled the projects, this one I’d been working on for at least two weeks but with working I just didn’t have the time, today I was off so I got it done. It’s a round suitcase that I bought at Tuesday Mornings and I got one coat on before I remembered to take a picture.

Here it is after being painted with a dark beige paint then sanded a lot and around the edges too, I like also how it showed the pattern I painted over. I used watered down black paint on top and quickly wiped it off then tinted some clear wax with dark brown paint and applied that all over. I didn’t sand the black stripe because it was dry but not all the way if you know what I mean, so I may do that but not right away.

I have it on top of the vintage suitcase on my stepback cupboard, do you see the black and white picture above the one I hung yesterday?

Well, I thought I’d try my hand at abstract painting! lol I already had the frame and got the idea from JoAnn from Double-Wide in the Sky so when I read her post I thought I can do that! My dad painted in oils… so I said a prayer and let the brush do it’s thing. Smile

I could turn it the other way, but this way it at least looks like a sad fish. lol

If you stand back it really doesn’t look to bad if I do say so myself!

If you stand even farther back it almost looks like I bought it that way! Ha!
The long, wooden paddle you see there on the stool was used to stir laundry, my BIL gave me that and I was thinking of hanging it there but wasn’t sure. See the black paint on my couch cushions? I can only blame myself I must have got some on the hammer and laid it there, so after I was done off came the cushion covers into the washing machine they went. You should have seen both of us trying to get them back on after they were done that was a hoot!

I’m a Graduate of Debbie’s Newbie Party

Hi everyone! I hope you all have had a great spring day, love spring, my favorite season of the year where everything seems so fresh and clean and I can’t forget green! It’s a little cooler here now but that’s okay because it’s spring!!!

This evening I’m joining Debbie Do’s Newbie Reunion Party! Because you see I’m a graduate of her Newbie party and right now I’m feeling a little proud, why? Because I’ve kept this blog up and running for a while here even though I was scared to death to start a second new blog not knowing how it would take off but I put my myself out there and tried and I’m so glad I did♥ I’ve made so many friends and I’m always eager to get on the computer in the morning with a cup of coffee at my desk and visit you all, you make my day! Love Ya Deb!!!

Now I’m just going to ramble here this evening, I pulled up more pictures that I took and never posted.

This is my Easter centerpiece in the diningroom, the urn and grass are from GW a couple years ago, I added the egg picks from DT and tied it all up with the prettiest blue ribbon! Easy peasy and I think it turned out so neat! I think I saw this done on Pinterest but I’m not sure!

These are from GW too and they are heavy, tarnished Salt and Pepper shakers!

Happy Spring! I guess I should take the pinecones off the tray now, funny how you see things after you post the pictures that you didn’t see before. Smile

Ahhhh spring, now we get to wear these type of shoes instead of boots and socks!

I know I’ve posted this picture before but I do love it, to me I think it is the best picture I ever took and it wasn’t with a DSLR either. I bought the fresh, pink roses at Walmart and the vase I found at GW, I did really like this vase too, it was ceramic but looked galvanized… but sadly it is no more, hubby broke it taking the Christmas tree down last December, I could have cried but didn’t Sad smile .
