What do you think? Am I getting there or what? What a journey this has been for me...spray painting, spray painting and just plain painting also decisions, decisions and more decisions. So I decided to go to the pros, that means YOU!
What should I do with this Hoosier, it’s across the room on the right, paint it white or can you do a different white on it, more creme? Or should I just leave it the way it is? Do you have another suggestion, believe me I need to hear if you do :) I paid $100.00 for it back in the 80’s and it was white originally but had it stripped to this walnut stain. This is what it looks like as I type this…a mess! Everything is put there while decorating or painting, eventually I’d like to use it as a place to put my lap top and that’s all that would be on there plus have my shabby chic holders for paper clips and such in the cupboard above. Mr. K is getting a roll top desk and I’d sort of like this to be my place:)
Another look at it!
I added this mirrored sconce to the left of the corner cabinet and in my last post I said the picture was titled Afternoon Snack here I looked and it’s Afternoon Treat.
I bought the plate to go with the bowl from Walmart and was going to use it above the kitchen cabinets but thought it look better here with the bowl.
Here’s my first rooster! Isn’t he handsome? I love the lacey detailing on him and I found him at Marshall’s, looks so good on top of the cabinets!
,Now here are two soup tureens I found at GW, the first one was only $3.99 but no spoon, still bought it though!
This one I found Monday at GW and only $5.99 of course though I get the discount because I’m over 55 anyway… it is a big one and came with the spoon which is ceramic too!
This is where my bench is at the moment, I tried putting it in the entryway but it was to big, I think I’m going to use it in my bedroom whenever I get that room done, I just feel like I’m never going to get done.LOL
I’m sure you are wondering about this spice shelf, I got it at GW this past summer and spray painted it aqua, don’t know if I like it or not but for $2.99 I thought what the heck. It’s great for salt & pepper shakers both sets are from GW too! I’ve been looking for more just haven’t come across any lately. Oh, that goldish thing there on the bottom shelf is a gourd that must have toppled over.
Hope everyone is having a great start to the weekend, beautiful weather here in PA.
Have a great day wherever you are:)

I see great cottage home with wonderful wood pieces and some have all white. So it's a toss up for me on what to do with your cabinet. Everything is coming along great!
What about a nice, kind of woodsy green? Not too dark but not light either. Love the piece.
Everything looks great! I would leave your gorgeous hoosier just the way it is!! It has that great old farmhouse look.
Kathy
It does look a little dated to me, I would paint it white or a very light shade of blue or green, and add fabric or paper in a nice pattern to the panels as a final touch. I love all the other white things in the room!
I would paint the hoosier a soft creamy white shade. I think it will lighten up the room.

I vote painting the hoosier white!!
I would either do white or for a big statement I would even paint it the turquoise like the shelf and then maybe add glaze especially in the detailed areas and some sanding to make it worn looking.
I think it would be beautiful white! Everything is looking great!
Everything looks great! I am unsure of what to do (if anything) to your piece but love Kim's idea!
Even just a year ago I would have said paint it, but now I think it's great just the way it is.
Everything is looking so good!
I think you should ship it up to Canada to my house!! :) Though your house was one of my fave prim homes, I am loving the changes that you have made. That bench looks wonderful with the new fabric and painted white. If I was not so incredibly cheap, I would consider changing my decor. I have spent too much getting it prim, and would feel guilty changing it out. I will have to live vicariously through you.....if you don't mind too much! :)
Oh my...I'm not going to be any help as I like it with the wood showing, but I think it would look great painted white also. I have some of my pieces dark and some of them painted white, because I love the mix of the dark with the white. I love the country cottage feel that your pieces have.

I really like how you are transforming these pieces. I love the 80's piece and see how it was the perfect color then...I do see you mixing in along with your whites perhaps a turquoise color, to go with the country cottage feel you have. Have fun!!~
Hi! found you off of a blog party. I think all the work you've done is great, and oddly enough, made my little spice rack stick from all the whites in my office by painting it distressed Robin's Egg Blue (http://benderoak.blogspot.com/2010/10/blue-monday-i-crocheted-i-painted-i.html)... And the Spice Rack looks very similiar to yours, lol! I totally dig that Rooster and the Corner Cabinet!
Oh Rondell,
Love, love, love the Hoosier...I love the contrast of dark wood and painted pieces, but the wood has to be minimal for me...Like for example, I just painted a sideboard, but left the top it's original wood finish...That might be a way to go...Whatever you decide to do I know it will be awesome. By the way, I've been wanting to ask you...Did you make the crochet runner on your table? It is absolutely beautiful.
Hugs and Kisses,
♥Ana
Paint that puppy white or a nice pale turquoise. That's really a terrific piece!
I like the idea of a color light blue or a pretty green. But if you think you will get tired of looking at it after a month or two white or cream will be timeless and you can pick up the color with your accessories! It really is a beautiful piece!
Love all the pieces and the painting choices are awesome! Great job!
Lisa
I LOVE that little rack aqua! keep it! ;)
Oh that Hoosier would be FANTASTIC painted. I would say white or one of the other colors you want to bring out in the room. It is such a nice piece!
That is a awesome piece, I vote to paint it! Creamy antique white of white with a glaze!
XO
