Chalk Paint Tray and I Won!

Hi guys! Been a busy week here, have you ever forgotten what day it was? Happened to me and I missed a hair appointment, which I never do, they called and her name came up on my phone and I still didn’t connect with it, just thought she wanted to move my appt. It’s no wonder though, I’m back to picking up the girls from the bus and also was called  out to work on Tuesday so I worked four straight days, not used to that just mixed my days up in my head.lol
It hasn’t stopped me from painting though with my homemade chalkpaint, this time I did a tray that I’ve had for years. Found it at a fleamarket years ago and it was done in a patriotic style, it has served me well and it’s been inside and outside of the house! Here it is on the bar in my kitchen, I used my Cottage White chalkpaint then sanded with my detail sander, love that thing!

I wanted it to look old like it came out of an old shed, here’s a close up of it.
P3022505
Here is what it looked like before, you can see the difference in the colors, the lightest is the Cottage White Chalkpaint.

I also stenciled it, I don’t have a stencil brush, have to buy one of those, so I used the end of a small, sponge roller and it worked perfectly…where there is a will there’s a way!
P3022507
I also waxed it with a clear wax and added black craft paint to it and it brought out the  grain of the wood a little bit I think plus it made it so smooth.
I do love that stencil on it,I bought the stencils at Walmart and were about $4.95 for a lot of different ones! While waxing this tray I was looking at the wall right there with the pictures on it and got the idea to put two, open white shelves there, can’t wait to do that! Mr. K will be so happy…not! BTW my counters will be here in a couple weeks, can’t wait!

Which brings me to show you my new black granite sink, Ta Da! The sink I have now is from 1983, stainless steel, can’t wait to get this baby in!

This is with a bit of the counter by it….Thanks Lowes!

Now I’d love to show you what I won from the DIY Showcase blog Party Hop, I was thrilled to win this because their products are so good and they do what they say too…I like that in a product.

Love the little tray! I just started using chalk paint. Now when I look at just about anything, I imagine what it would look like with a coat or too of Annie Sloan. Happy Friday!

The tray looks great! My hubby hates when I get ideas like that, too. But he hates it even more when I'm the one putting holes in the walls! : )

Wow! Congrats to you! You are on a roll aren't ya? I bet your hubby was pretty excited about the gorilla glue win, I know mine would be. Yes, I have forgotten what day it was before too. I showed up for a dentist appointment a day early and insisted that my appointment was that day as I had even looked at the calendar that morning. After a very embarrassing disagreement, I then realized I thought the actual day of the week was one day ahead of what it actually was. LOL! That's what working odd hours does to ya. I completely get it!

Love the tray!! I want to go to Pat Catan's to pick up some chalk board paint, so that I can paint the bandbox that I picked up at the flea market last weekend.
Congrats on your win.

Cindy

Your tray turned out great. I have never made my own chalk paint but plan to as soon as the weather gets warmer and I can open my windows. Your sink is gorgeous. You'll have to let us know how the plate hangers work out. Happy Sunday!

Well, the tray is perfect and I bet the shelves will be too. My SIL was over for a BBQ last night, and funny thing, she ws telling me tht is the exact sink she wants. New counters too? How exciting!! Following with LF now.

You did a great job on that box. It really does look old. I love your new sink. I need to replace mine. It's white, but shows too many markings and it doesn't ever feel like it's really clean. It's not even that old. You should have better luck with your dark granite sink. Congrats on your winnings too! Those items will certainly come in handy around the house.
