I Like This So Much Better

Hi everyone, we are enjoying warmer weather here for Pa. the sun is out and looks like spring at least from my window:)
I did redo the bookcase, somehow I just wasn’t liking the scrapbook paper idea, just seemed to clash with everything in the diningroom. I do think it would have been great with all white pieces on it but the reason I bought the bookcase from Target was to put photographs of the kids and grandchildren on it. They put alot of money into the pictures so I feel they should be out where they can see them.

I used a sample jar of Valspar Blue Cafe on the posterboard, this is the first shelf…my oldest son’s family! The second is my stepdaughter and her husband, sorry about the chandy in the glass.

Third is my daughter and the girls.

Fourth and fifth Ball jars (of course) and a clear one filled with white buttons. Urn with grass a GW find!

I think it does make it look alot better and will go well with the different runners I have for the table.

Here is a score from GW for just $6.99, the knob and bracket I’m not sure about, I’m going to Hobby Lobby Friday, my first trip ever and I’m going to look at the knobs, I’ve seen such neat ones all over blogland! They opened this store up about 30 miles away in Pittsburgh near Homegoods, going there too and I’m so excited:) I haven’t decided on what color to paint it, ASCP is looking good to me now, just hate paying the price, I’ve entertained the thought of making my own but sometimes things like that just turn out very well for me. LOL

Love the blue at the back of the bookcase. It makes everything in front stand out. Very pretty. My post is about ball jars today. Love the ones you have on the bottom shelf! Enjoy!

The bookcase looks wonderful with the back painted blue. It makes the items show up more against it now. Have fun on your shopping trip!

I really like that change to the solid color. It does make your photos the center of attention. I had to chuckle when I was looking at your header. I have the same Better Homes & Gardens cookbook. It was a wedding present!

I don't know how deep the space is over your fridge, but IKEA has some similar looking baskets but taller. We got some for our guest room. They are 13 1/2 " deep by 12 1/2" wide x 12 1/2" tall. Just a thought!
Have a great week!

I think the blue looks great Rondell! I agree with you about family pictures. I have so many family pictures (mostly grandchildren) that I need to find a place for them. Enjoy your shopping, Gail

First off, I love the pictures of your family. They are such wonderful casual shots and really do look great! I love that you want to showcase them too. I like the blue it's very pretty and a nice serene backdrop for the photos. I especially love that you painted this on a removable backdrop, that's so smart!

I love the colour you've added to the bookcase...this is something I definitely want to do. BTW where did you get the black wire basket with the white liner, I've been looking for something like that. PS...your husband looks like my brother and for a moment I had to do a double take...LOL!

I am one of your new loyal followers and look forward to reading more of your blog!

Have fun at Hobby Lobby and take your credit card! You'll be addicted to that place like the rest of us soon! Hee hee!

The family is the the most important thing about the home, so you did a great job at protraying them and putting them in the spotlight. I love your jar collection too. I have some of those old blue jars, but never seem to know how to work them into my decor.

Thanks for sharing this post with us at the Your Cozy Home Party!
